  1. With Ness I am a bit past trying to sort it out. Too much water under the bridge. I will reward ones in the correct position but in the end I am not sure I can change to much now and expect miracles. Kenz has never been rewarded for a shitty finish. I will step away, set her up again and ask for a new finish and only reward ones when she is 100% correct. And yep its double standards but Ness will be 10 this year and is bordering on retirement, Kenz isn't yet 2 and has a long career ahead of her . But none the less I do still work on Ness's finishes occasionally and have a few new ideas to try so will have a go with those and see if it helps any.
  2. Oh my finishes are a constant WIP - just ask Ptolomy :p . I didn't say that was a perfect example - Ptolomy or Bedazzledx2 probably have perfect ones on video just that it sort of showed the exercise.
  3. hmmm not sure huski but I can't see Ptolomy with anything other than a toller (except for Lara ).
  4. Um sorry Ptolomy - can't see you as a beagle women .
  5. Hmmm AD - currently toys are away and a certain black and white is downstairs barking at me to do something. So outside isn't the answer - well if you want your neighbours on side.
  6. MM - I taught Ness scent discrimination based on the dog scout website and Ptolomy's kindly well thought out emails. Let me see if I can find any of my trial videos that might give you an idea of what the exercise should look like when its finished. Hmm here is an old clip of mine from a trial - this one has a bit of what it shouldn't look like because Ness spits the article but it shows you how its set up and you can clearly see the steward/judge/dog/handler in the video -
  7. yep all the time. Hmmm haven't reached a solution yet though so if you find something that works let me know .
  8. Ooops - er well you could send Moo to me - I'd take good care of him ;) and Kenz is rather partial to Toller boys ;) . ETA. Rubs hands together in anticipation of a rather large Moo containing package arriving in the mail in the next 48 hours .
  9. ;) Ptolomy - well at least this time you didn't breeder her so you could always send her back to her breeder (just kidding ;) ).
  10. ;) I think the problem with medical professionals is you get sucked into a path of no return - never mind the cost. I am presently up to physio visit number 4 tonight ;) .
  11. In competition you have a pack of 12 unscented articles - 4 wood/4 metal/4 leather and then you scent 1 article (wood/leather/metal) and that gets placed in the pile and the dog sent to find it. You repeat the game 3 times so they have to find 1 of each article type. So if you select wood the first time then you either select leather or metal the second time and then whatever you haven't selected is your last article.
  12. The scented article is scented with your scent. You can either place out the unscented articles using tongs or since I am to lazy to use tongs I will tip my box out and then use the article I am using as scented article to nudge the unscented articles ;) .
  13. Just did a scent session with Kenz - 8 unscented metals, 1 scented metal = no issues. There were even pretty heavy distractions for her with a neighbour walking up the road and then starting to mow the lawn next door. Pretty pleased with her. Gone for the moment is the I can't pick up my metal article stage - she is still struggling but she is perserving until the article is up and on the way back to me. I placed a few unscented woods in the pile (just in case she would try and take an easy option) and she still only bought back the correctly scented metal ;) . She was actually sniffing each article and when she got to the scented one picking it up without a doubt as to which one I wanted back. Finished up with some gorgeous heelwork while the neighbour was mowing the lawn - pretty hard for her since both my two are die hard lawn mower chasers and secondly Kenz has issues with strange people being close and being spooked.
  14. Well done Cider - look forward to the video . I might head out again today and try a session or two with Kenz. My video camera is charged but not sure I am game to video a session - maybe next week.
  15. was just stirring you Ptolomy - can you pretty please send me a UD article exercise in time for the weekend - will trade you for packing boxes .
  16. Think Ptolomy has decided I am a lost cause and since she is so busy getting PMs from everybody regarding i-squeaks I no longer hear from her .
  17. ;) :D :D :p :p ;) :p Ness's articles are broken ;) :p :p ;) ;) .
  18. I love nothing more then being given trained dogs to take out for a test spin - I have had the great pleasure of working not only some of Ptolomy's kids but bedazzledx2's Brooklyn and another absolutely awesome standard poodle Kiri belonging to another WA trainer and its an experience that stays with you for life.
  19. Dear Ptolomy, Can we please have a new Cider Bear video soon. Signed, Cider-Bear's fan club
  20. Don't get me started on too much computer RubyStar - the physio has said I am really suppose to have no computer for 3 days but we know very well I can't manage that so its just limited computer and NO thesis writing .
  21. I was going to say have you converted her yet Ptolomy.
  22. your right Tassie - 11 i-squeaks is not enough apparently . Maybe I'll take a photo of Kenz will her collection today hehehhee.
  23. Tassie - not like she doesn't already have a collection of i-squeaks anyway .
  24. And Kenz was doing her best to keep everybody away from her i-squeaks . I let her have them when we got home from training since squeakies are frowned upon at club.
  25. Sqeeeeeeeeeeeee the i-squeaks are here. Wahoo go dah i-squeaks.
