  1. Guess it might just be time to put obedience back on the priority agenda :).
  2. A totally awesome weekend for Kenz. Yesterday we were up at the crack of dawn and she managed to pass her Track 2 with a Good rating. Today we went out and worked some sheep and she did a reasonable job with that as well. The best part is after two days of normal dog activities she seems to have pulled up fine.
  3. Have dedicated Canon video camera and tripod. Love it .
  4. Tracking would be fine. My oldie started tracking at 10 (as a retirement activity from agility and obedience). Ended up getting her track 3 2 months before she turned 13. Probably could have gone further but we only entered 1 or 2 trials a year because of the season being so short. I did toy with bringing her out again (she is coming up for 14) this year but no real time to train. She came out with us to help plot tracks for the last trial though.
  5. Well thats good to hear I will certainly defer to you benshiva. It was more just what I heard and I also think it was only a kilo or so difference so we aren't talking "overweight". More akin with OSS's example of showing her whippets 500grms heavier then when keeping them at performance weight.
  6. I will say I have heard show people who do performance sports say they normally leave an extra kilo on their BCs if they are showing them in the show ring as against just trialling them and you do hear talk of show weight v performance weight. Maybe dogs in proper working condition are seemingly penalized in the show ring otherwise why such a comment.
  7. Think with a young active dog I'd be finding a specialist to do the repair and would definitely opt for a bone cutting procedure like a TPLO.
  8. Breed/Age/Activity level? Young active and/or large breed TPLO or TTA but I think most seem to do a TPLO. Older, more sedate dog, smaller breeder - a lateral suture repair is fine. My 13 year old active BC had a lateral suture repair about 7 months ago. She can still comfortably manage a 4km walk and pull up fine the following day.
  9. Its a two edged sword really if you let your puppy socialise with other dogs then you are also risking a negative experience. Its not possible to control every last variable and ensure only positive experiences. It can take but one bad experience to have a huge lasting experience. My dogs hang out together but don't really play either with each other or with other dogs. I do let my youngster play with select dogs on occasion because she has had quite a negative association with having dogs attack her but she would honestly rather work or do something with me then play.
  10. what a cheeky westie miss Sarah is and I agree she is far to pretty to do something so disgusting. I love Plush Puppy Whitening for my guys.
  11. Agility dog club train on a Thursday night at west beach and is the only agility only club in the state. http://www.agilitydogclubsa.com/ Some of the other clubs might permit you to be assessed for agility if the dog is already capable of doing the obedience without having to spend months going through the classes. There is also Dances with Dogs that you could consider. Hop Hop hounds train down south. You can find details on this page - http://www.danceswithdogsaustralia.com/where-can-i-learn-dwd-in-sa.html
  12. kallistar - I just wish we would have some indoor trials so I could look at entering Kenz again . Missed not being out there competing with her.
  13. kallistar. You sure that is all you have to say biker girl - I saw a photo of you posing with a trophy . Was it highest scoring freestyle dog to?
  14. Believe a certain newcomer to the sport has a brag to post after the trial today - two awesome routines . Well done.
  15. So sorry about your loss of Xena - hugs. Way to go on Gabby's Grand OC though .
  16. Zippered tail section is for breeds who have tails which stick up. I don't use it with my BCs. You can put another coat on top or you could get a waterproof one which is warmer and has padding. Yep the company are based in WA so you could see about going and trying one on.
  17. Mine use the snooza cuddlers like that. Dig into the middle section and rest their head on the outer ring like a pillow.
  18. Mine has 54-56 on the package for the 55 coat. Ness is about 480mm/16kg. I would take a back length measurement and use what is closest. I noticed they have resized them since i got mine. You might be ok with the 52-54. Not sure the 55-58 wouldn't be a bit long. I take my girls coats off when they go to the toilet so can't help you on that.
  19. Ness 55cm BOT coat Kenz 55cm BOT coat Kenz 49cm BOT coat
  20. I bought the mesh version. It gets cold here but not super cold and they are a double coated breed who I wouldn't otherwise coat. I think the mesh version is fine in a breed you wouldn't otherwise rug/coat overnight. I also think the mesh is probably more comfortable for them to sleep in. I have considered getting Kenz a waterproof version for wearing when out but haven't got that far yet. Kenz is a little BC (13kg) and i have a 49cm one for her. Ness is a more normal BC size and has a 55cm. They are a fairly loose fit. The 55cm is probably a little generous for her and initially that is the size I had for Kenz. I wasn't sure how they sized so erred on the caution side and figured slightly big wasn't as much of a problem as to small. I might have gone a 52cm for Kenz if it hadn't been for a DOL having one which needed a new home.
  21. Yep use one on both of mine. Bought one when my youngster was having issues with biceps tendonitis and some compensating soreness through her spine. She spent a lot of time being crate rested and it certainly helped with the overall soreness/stiffness factor. My older girl has started wearing one to bed sometimes and definitely wakes up much more perky and feral and free moving then on days she doesn't.
  22. Hugs bianca.a - Least round 2 you know what the recovery period will be and hopefully Coops will be pain free and back on his feet in no time.
  23. My two BC girls have Snooza cuddlers and one is at least 7 years old now and still in good condition. I think the newer models are a bit improved though as the one which I have which is about 6 years old isn't as flat as my older one.
