  1. Always the way valleyCBR - I have run some masters courses thinking we won't get through a tricky bit then we do and screw up the simple bit.
  2. I was special today I got a lunchtime update from Ptolomy .
  3. I know Rivsky did well and so did at least one of Ptolomy's kids. Not sure about anybody else.
  4. Think Rivsky has a few more Nationals brags to add to yesterdays likewise Ptolomy .
  5. Only cos I harassed him to the point where he couldn't decline SecretKei - think I'll be the one needing to hide at the workshop ;) . Oh wait I have to get through 2 hours of him on the Friday first - eeek.
  6. huski wrote: I had the same problem with Daisy, although I would be lucky to be able to get focus out of her for ten minutes anywhere. Now we can work on and off for an hour or so and she is STILL keen to work after! I never understood in training for even 30 minutes of paddock bashing (all classes I have ever attended here were only 30 minutes). Even with dogs who don't have focus issues the stamina on both parts (dog and handler) to keep on task for that length of time in one stretch isn't for the faint hearted. Never mind an hours worth. I thought I'd do puppy classes (not baby puppy classes but classes run by the local obedience club) with my youngest because I thought it might be a good idea. Hmmmm we lasted 1 class before my enthusiasm vanished. To much standing around time and while the dog was fine (her version of heeling was at that stage lets hang off the end a tug toy while we walk around in a circle ) I didn't think there was anything to be gained by even spending small amounts of time in "class". So I just ended up taking her each week and training her in between working my older dog through the trial ring. So its not just keeping the dogs attention in an hour class that is an issue but also the handler. And gsdog2 I just went off and had a look at your youtube clips and they weren't bad at all - in fact they were pretty impressive .
  7. Splitting in the context of stays would mean breaking down and working on each individual element - duration, distance separately. Zug Zug if you want a reasonably stable dog to practice stays with at a park I am happy to meet somewhere with Ness. More difficult over winter with less daylight hours but weekends are fine. I could use some motivation to take some gear to a park and do some UD.
  8. Way to go mirawee, Rivsky and Ptolomy. As I just said in a text message to Rivsky - go gettem Riv on Sunday - Ness says something about some unfinished business in the excellent agility finals from the Adelaide 2007 Nationals when a certain black and white dog thought she would back jump the spread ;) . And don't worry tell Riv I'll send the pocket rocket energy reserves over in a padded express bag first thing in the morning . Good luck tomorrow everybody ;).
  9. From what has been posted its only an offence if: "by physically striking, biting or jumping at people or animals beyond the boundary of their owners’ property" So fence running and barking wouldn't necessarily fit under this definition as it might not constitute physically striking (and certainly wouldn't be considered biting or jumping AT people). It also says beyond the boundary of their owner's property. I can see it getting messy if a dog barks at a postie who has stuck a hand over the fence to put mail inside the mail box. To me the person has then placed a body part on the property and is therefore no longer beyond the boundary. I don't think the changed wording really seeks to clarify anything from a legal perspective and just raises more questions.
  10. mirawee - bedazzledx2 just emailed me through a copy. Now I just need it autographed by the two stars. Its a very lovely photo of the two handsome and clever boys.
  11. Can somebody scan it in and post it so us interstaters who lurk in the WA thread may see it pretty please bedazzledx2.
  12. Good luck everybody - wishing everybody some lovely clean, fast runs and more importantly that everybody has a great time.
  13. Yep thats the one we use as well .
  14. I'd just put in your own group clean run order. I am sure you would find other stuff to purchase .
  15. and Ness. Ness has always had the problem with RATs.
  16. I only said borrow - too attached to the midget to let her go anywhere permanently she just needs somebody who understands sheep better then her (which totally rules me out of the equation ;) ).
  17. Go Izzi, Pebbles and Delta ;) . Maybe you need another dog now . I know you can borrow Kenz and get her PT for me .
  18. RS fine then be that way see if I care . I am sure you would be fine.
  19. Scribing really isn't that scary RS.
  20. Oh god yeah I have no idea what I am suppose to be doing which makes Kenz's job even more difficult and we aren't even actually doing much yet . Although I did think I did well to remember some of what more experienced people had told me from watching her first instinct test video about taking her by the collar in training to get her in behind the stock to move the stock off the fences and keep her switched on .
  21. Go Jazz . I really gotta make an effort to get Kenz to a few more herding lessons if we are going to make any progress. She really enjoys it though so I should try and find some time.
  22. Back on the herding - Jazz was certainly doing some nice useful stuff at the clinic on Saturday Piper. Considering she gets very infrequent access to stock she is doing exceedingly well I think.
