  1. Confusion poodlefan - sorry Kynan I shouldn't have thrown in my bit. Its Kenz who collapses and she is a Border Collie and I had electrolyte recommendations for her because I can't get any fluid into her after. Kynan didn't make any mention of her GSD having issues was only asking if people had tried sports drinks.
  2. I have had it mentioned to me to try an electrolyte drink with Kenz before taking her out for a run but for reasons different to yours. I haven't tried it yet but I have been considering it. ETA. I have had issues with Kenz collapsing at the park on a couple of occasions and its not related to heat exhaustion.
  3. I don't think there is such a thing as a dog being too young necessarily but it depends on what your long term plans are, if the dog is ready, if your an experienced handler, what your goals are etc. I have seen dogs who are well and truely ready to enter by the time they are 12 months. If you are only wanting to train the dog to CCD/CD level and get a title and you don't care about scores then it might be worth a shot. If your eventual goal is a UD title and decent scores along the way then there is no point in rushing things. Its only 9 trials to a UD title if you pass each and every trial and the dog is trained. Its certainly a valuable experience to attend a few trials and watch what happens before you enter.
  4. UD training/trialling issue which I'd like some thoughts on - issue is seekback - not the finding the article but the presenting the article. At both trials on the weekend Ness came in with the seekback and stood. On Saturday she stood off to one side but close enough to a front that she didn't fail. Sunday she stood at heel. She didn't go around behind me just came in and sort of did a flip finish to end up at heel (well she never even actually came into front ). She has never pulled it at training so I am lost as to how to go about resolving it. Any ideas??
  5. LOL I got the opposite problem a dog who sits up in the drop stay . Think she just likes to go against the trend but hey she did a 7 min down at the trial today so fingers crossed when she needs to she can do one.
  6. RubyStar - I was only saying to the judge in the ring today that I might have to look to going to WA to trial as it appears Ness only manages to pass obedience when we travel interstate - so never mind home grounds .
  7. Hmmm Ptolomy hasn't Scoota done that before .
  8. RubyStar you were in my iphone which died a death at the physio remember. Congratulations on your title by the way . ETA. Nik Jedi is a superstar and looks absolutely fantastic (and your handling was good as well ).
  9. maybe Ptolomy - it was nice to see Ness can manage her UD stays at a trial - I asked Dave if I could take a rain check for when she was sitting on a pass - hmmmm he wouldn't agree to that. Bugger.
  10. Can't even find RS's mobile number to harass her that way .
  11. Hurry up RubyStar - where was my text message .
  12. Have you got normal plain metals or knurled metals. Mine struggle with the plain metals but both prefer the knurled ones. Kenz wasn't quite so keen on the metal so we put it away and taught scent with wood and worked metal articles separately. ETA. You can also try taping the metal articles with tape and then slowly fading out the tape so they are having to hold them.
  13. Go DSO and Jess onto Open now and up with the big kids .
  14. trust Ptolomy to forget the details . Goooooo Moo.
  15. Wish I had seen it - bugger - but glad you two showed up .
  16. Hmmm think your occasionally clever dog had been in telepathy mode with my yet to reach UD dog about second boxes and STANDING . Only I suspect we were in the ring before you so therefore it must have gone the other way ;) .
  17. What do you mean no brag Bully - considering you weren't even going to bother to show up Pele did very well - Congratulations. Now if anybody shouldn't brag it would be me :p . Best not speak about that but she got all her articles right in the ring for a change.
  18. SecretKei just prior to flirting with Clyde she was busy flirting with a male weim too . It appears she has a thing for the BIG boys :p . ETA. I gotta say I actually think the long coats are nicer then the normal ones (maybe I should run now ).
  19. Yep the dog is a pedigree Rottie - first and only long-haired one I have seen. Kenz was in love with him and wouldn't stop flirting :p .
  20. Bugger Zug Zug - I almost offered to let Ness do one when I came to find you and you were in the middle of doing one. Lovely work with the rest of it though . Always happy to catch up and do some stay practice.
  21. Hopefully Bully and Zug Zug will both come in here and post something - for a couple of people who weren't sure about entering they both came really really close to walking away with passes. Well done to both of you. Just goes to show you sometimes do need to have a bit of confidence in your dogs and a gentle push isn't all bad is it Zug Zug . And we won't mention a certain BCs performance in UD - hmmm least she managed her articles correctly.
  22. Good work Zug Zug happy to provide some suggestions on articles . Gotta love these old dogs that don't really act there age. Ness was barking her way through a UD round on Tuesday night. Very over the top and having an absolute blast.
  23. Its all right SnT I didn't suggest it in this thread .
