I dunno I seem to prefer the WA judges as I can't seem to pass here. Can I come hide in your suitcase :D .

Sounds like it was possibly tiredness in this instance but if you try one when he is fresh and he is still struggling I wouldn't rule out soreness. Sometimes it can be very hard to pick up on especially in dogs with high tolerance for pain. I would also ask what else might have been happening around at the time you were doing stays? Are you talking group stays with lots of dogs, people correcting dogs for breaking etc. I have seen dogs drop in a sit stay because they are impacted by what is going on around them. Some dogs would react by breaking and coming to the handler others lie down and you can clearly see they just aren't comfortable in a particular situation.

I think I'd be in serious need of a nap if I had 7 dogs at the beach. Just keeping track of that number!!!!

Adelaide Stockists Of 4 X2 Biscuits

Its the one near the Orphanage just as you come up from the underpass bit, near where the demolition place is. They always have 1kg bags and they also have 1kg bags of 2x2s. They aren't the friendliest people so I only go there to buy my 4x2 biscuits . -
Its called having spent 12 years going to the local private school and making friends with the various principals . The only thing I have to make sure is that my training sessions don't clash with a school sporting events. Was great in summer though over the school holidays as the grounds were seldom used and as long as we didn't get in the way of anything it was fine. I jokingly refer to it as my extended backyard . You would still get the occasional other person walk through with there dogs but there was also plenty of oval space and most people are pretty good. The most inconsiderate person I encountered at another oval and that pissed me off the most would actually be a dog breeder and previous dog sport competitors and its not just happened once. I had gone there in the middle of the afternoon (not like its an especially popular dog walking time) and set up some agility gear and another time I had set up some UD gear. Well the oval is pretty big and plenty big enough for people to keep dogs away and still have room. I had to yell at them to come and collect there dogs. Sorry that is really bad when your a breeder, dog showie and you don't have your dogs under effective control.

Can't you get boxes at petstock as well? What sort of quantities are you after I just buy a 1kg bag at a time from the petshop on Goodwood road. -
Since Rivsky is away in Coffs competing this weekend and isn't back until next week I am going to post this brag on her behalf. I just got word that Riv finished off his CDX title today in fine style with a 192 and third place. Go Riv (and Rivsky) - fantastic work. Now onwards and upwards and getting to play with the big kids in UD. Congratulations to you both. What a way to go travel interstate and come home with your title. Good stuff.

Open Obedience- Cop Or Broad Jump.
ness replied to Tay.'s topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Yep COP here too - Kenz is trained for that. Broad jumps we save for agility . -
yeah ditto hahahah but miss midget needs her tug leads for agility. Hmmmm wonder how I am going to stop her tugging on her new trial one or Ness for that matter if the other night is anything to go by.

check out the site I posted - there are so many options it will do you head in .
-
I will take some over the weekend maybe. I got mine from here: www.kollarsbykathryn.com - more pretty options for the collar part then the other website . I got sparkly silver and sparkly fushia. ETA. RubyStar I already have 2 from here that I have used a bit and no stretching of the leads and Kenz really does tug hard . They a very tightly braided.
-
I had my pretty ones arrive from overseas too this morning - nice and sparkly . I didn't think you were allowed a name on a lead for trialling .
-
yellowgirl - Kenz was spayed last year and was flank spayed.
-
hmmm I think this takes the cake - I went and did a DWD trial in NSW in December. Kenz managed 3 passes but they had the wrong registration number so I had to post them back for replacement. They posted out a new lot in March or April but they never arrived. We are now end of May and I still haven't seen them .

I don't mind being out in the rain, dog doesn't mind the rain - not sure my city slicker car would appreciate tackling the driveaway into the place we go herding when its wet . Oh and I don't really do driving in the hills when its wet either .
-
Well I could have done both but I am not dedicated enough to think that herding in the rain is fun . Its probably more fun then obedience in the rain mind you.
-
Hmmmm is it a case of herding addiction when you decide that it might be more fun to go herding then go to an obedience mock trial which you know you really badly need to go to .
-
Yep that is what I was working on poodlefan when I made my decision but didn't really want a second season.

I waited until my girl had 1 season prior to desexing. She came into season at 8.5 months and was desexed around 13 months. I'd have preferred to hold out slightly later but there was worry that she might have been gearing up to come back in again based on her behavior so I opted to get her done on the logic that she came into season early so would have been finished growing anyway. I think the recommendation is around 14 months. She is destined to be an agility performance dog and I wonder if it hasn't helped with the height she will end up jumping. She is just into the top end of 400 with a few mm to spare so in her case I think we might have been lucky. Although hard to know the rest of her littermates were small anyway and the girls were all allowed to have a season or two as the breeder was running her sisters on. Not sure if it was of any benefit or not but it didn't seem to cause to many issues.
-
Yep we get a breeders certificate with ours to .

Ptolomy. It wasn't even wet here just cold and I opted to stay home .

Yes but WA charges less the some of the other states . SA is the same we have no choice in the matter. You are suppose to return your pedigree and they will update it. Although the numpty that I am didn't realize as with an associate dog they provide a new one without you returning the old one. When I applied for Kenz's title I included a photocopy as I would have done with Ness only to receive no updated one in return. Then I rang and they said oh your suppose to include the original .

Tiggy you can have a huge uphill battle getting a nervous dog to tug in an environment they aren't happy with and you have a much better chance of getting the same dog to take food. There are ways around not using a toy. You can throw bait bags, use bait plates, even build value for things like hand targeting and ask the dog to do that instead of tugging to get them set up for the next sequence. You can even throw food and SG on her 2x2 dvd actually starts the method throwing food rather than a toy. I have also seen handlers who get so hung up on the agility dog must tug that they have managed to totally shut off the dog from enjoying the sport. Not saying ValleyCBR is like but as the saying goes there is always more than one way to skin a cat. My older one has her masters titles and has never seen a toy for training. I am sure she isn't the only one around who has been trained using food only. In the end you have to make work what the dog finds rewarding .
