  1. Interesting Jess I had been considering signing up for access to the first session materials but sounds like its probably not worth it.
  2. I personally avoid fenced dog parks and find other places I can take mine off-lead but if that was the only off-lead area in a district then unfortunately you are faced with no real options if you just want to let the dog have a sniff.
  3. Agree with TSD - I don't allow my dogs to race up to other dogs and presume just because a dog is off-lead doesn't mean it wants to be hassled. Just because an area is an "off-leash" area doesn't mean its a free for all and you shouldn't have 100% control of your dog.
  4. Love the fitfurlife ones and spent a day with the people who sell them when they were over for the Royal last week but bit beyond my budget. Definitely a very sturdy treadmill although unless you have a dedicated space for them they are fairly bulky.
  5. So tempted - is the bar over the treadmill removable?
  6. We had a holee molee extreme which has basically been untouched for years - Kenz has since discovered its her new bestest toy for whatever reason .
  7. The ruffwear are adjustable across the front to.
  8. Not a maie dog but really liked the fit of the ruffwear one that we bought for the old girl.
  9. You certainly don't want anything which impedes movement in the dog. The y-front like the black dog model would be my pick. I used a comfortflex to start with but anything with a strap across the chest can cause problems for the dog if its not at the correct height. The y-front one is much more adjustable for the individual dog.
  10. Not fitting with a straight back on a fitbone is a training issue Tassie :D .
  11. Kmart have a good one which is about $30 or so and should fit what your looking for. Was in the auto accessory section.
  12. My parents used a rug to cover the back seat when they temporarily inherited Ness. I looked at the cheap k-mart back seat covers but they seemed happy enough with the blanket for the few months they had her. I have a back seat buddy in my car but my girls spend lots of time in the car.
  13. One other thing which might be work asking a breeder is any other possible health issues which have cropped up in there lines. There are a few problems which are becoming more apparent in the breed which while can't be tested for genetically at this point still may have a genetic basis. A good breeder will be open to mentioning any problems which may exist in their lines. I unfortunately got a youngster with BC collapse and wasn't even aware the condition existed in the breed until I started observing things happening in my girl and making comments and people mentioning the condition to me. The researchers would have me believe that there are more BCs in Australia with the condition then people might otherwise be prepared to agree. In my girls case it was just one of those unfortunate things but having had the issue come up and a few other probable genetic issues I would be asking more questions of any future breeder about any other conditions which may have occurred.
  14. Have never had any issues getting dogs in if needed - Ness had an eye infection and when mum rang the vet she went to for her puppy vacs (on springbank road) they couldn't see her for a few days whereas when mum rang Hawthorn they said no bring her in that day. Not had to many issues when I have needed appointments getting them quickly. I really need to look at taking Kenz back soon so it will be interesting to see what they say about her history and what sort of plan they are happy to agree to re on-going medication. At this stage its all remained to complicated and the specialists have been happy to continue providing medications since she is still "current".
  15. Yep when I need a normal vet we go to Hawthorn. Both my two were desexed there and that is where we go for routine stuff when we have anything that is routine. Not that we have had anything routine in a while . I recommended them to suziwong :).
  16. on the other hand Nick and Fiona both don't mind black and white BCs .
  17. So sorry - hopefully its not bad news - fingers crossed.
  18. Brag from me - last tracking trial I have entered with Kenz and not only did she pass her Track 4 on her first attempt but got a "Very Good" rating. Judge was full of praise for how well she had done and said she was an absolute pleasure to judge. Not bad for my little girl with such limited training - definitely a natural. I was super impressed with the fact she totally ignored the Kangaroos in favor of doing what she was suppose to. I never doubted her for a minute she was right on track the majority of the time and her article indications were super. Love my girl - given the struggles she has faced she never fails to give me all of herself and then some.
  19. My oldie is 14 next month and about 10 months post a cruciate repair and had an idiopathic vestibular episode a few months back which while she recovered from her balance certainly isn't as good as it was before that. Its good because you can shape the dogs to get on it and be much more independent then the peanut.
  20. Fitbone is definitely more useful then a single disc - http://classroom.dai...new-k9-fitbone/ I like it for my two because of Kenz's MPL issues its suppose to help the knee tracking straight and with Ness being an oldie getting on and off the peanut is a bit fraught with danger and being low to the ground there is less risk for her. Before the bone I had a couple of these discs - https://www.hartspor.../products/2-044 I find I use the discs/bone for then the peanut. ETA. Kenz messing around on the fitbone -
  21. Fitbone is so yesterday Tassie ;) - have you used it yet .
  22. yes I bought a tub of rapigel which I used on Kenz when she was shaved for her ultrasound scan on her shoulder but once the hair grew back dad or my brother inherited the rest of the pot.
  23. I waited forever to get my hands on a fitbone - try 3 or so months. Least you can now get them in Australia :). I might have got my hands on the first one into the country ;). I am tossing up a donut to add to my paw pods, balance discs, peanut and bone .
  24. Fitbone and maybe paw pods or some balance discs (but get the human fitness discs so much cheaper then the fitpaws version). Almost everything you can do on a peanut you can do with a smaller dog on a fitbone but being lower to the ground its easier :). It also takes up less space then a peanut.
  25. Love my fitbone. What size dog? You can get some good balance discs from hart sport for not very much.
