so we really need to rent Pele to attend our training sessions Bully. Apparently Ness isn't intimidating enough.

The scary thing is that this level of consideration isn't just reserved for members of the general public. I have had training sessions interrupted at clubs/trial grounds because of the inconsiderate nature of other trialling people ;) . Or maybe that should really read this level of inconsideration . I mean how can you expect members of the general public to show respect to you when your training a dog when fellow trialling people don't even show a level of respect. Thats my vent to add to this one. I have had a few too many incidents inside the past 4 weeks and its starting to wear very very thin.

Can I Take Another Dog To The Melbourne Show
ness replied to Gamby's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yep I would ring and ask them. I took a 5 month old pup to the Adelaide Royal while I was trialling her older sister. Didn't really have any other choice. I got her baby sat for at least one of the three nights but I remember she came to at least the agility night. We are lucky because our performance events are held in the evening so the time your required to be there isn't quite as long. Can't hurt to ask. -
oh I dunno TerraNik - we were lucky with open UD is when things start breaking however I do remember a few panicked emails to Ptolomy just before we came over and made our open debut so maybe thats the way it always is.

Sas don't talk to me about dogs not coming straight into the front position - still have a UD dog free to any home that will take her for deciding that seekbacks must be presented to a position somewhere more resembling heel then front but what gets me is its only an issue in trials and she has never pulled it on a retrieve of any other description . Not an article, not on a recall, not on a dumbbell retrieve, not on a glove retrieve. Think she is messing with me.

ROFL screen stills make analysing training footage fun but it still does nothing for the OMG did I really reward that when you watch them back on video . And Bec yeah they are great for looking at heel position although I did my head in yesterday on a video with cropping out 14 stills and comparing them. Although bloody BC for you we went out to train before and she just decides she knows what you want to the point where you get the tug back and she just sets herself up again correctly waiting for the reward again - think she is getting a little too clever.

yes I know he is bigger. Actually on the sitting where it benefits him that Steve said I was actually also going to mention something about eye contact. I know little dogs tend to want to sit out to make eye contact and I also know if I focus on where I want the dog rather than them as they are coming in they will tend to come in closer. Not sure if it might be worth something considering even for a larger dog.

I would almost be tempted to train a new position - label it "front" for example and then back chain but also use the targetting suggestion Steve suggested. Have you done skip sits where you take a little step back and then have Dante sit again?

xena98 Ness is looking for a new home today after a pretty appauling performance. Yesterday was slightly better just a little hiccup with signals and her fresian cow effort when I went to send her out for her first article. Think they need to mow the ground a little better ;) . Then just to spite me I gave a second command and she went and found the correct article and presented . Ah well beats last weekends 169 . I am not sure I could have tolerated that again so soon. I would rather fail miserably then pass every exercise and still fail.

;) :D

We have been out at an obedience trial this morning and have another one tomorrow . Just hope it goes a little better tomorrow then it did today .
-
Ooooh the ring in BC Hesa - he is very handsome .
-
Nice to hear you have recruited enough people to have him fully trained by the time he leaves Quarantine Ptolomy .
-
Sounds like you should plan another trialling holiday over here biker girl. .
-
least you had a package arrive RubyStar and it was dog goodies . We had one arrive today but it was pretty boring I think although no idea whats in it - not anything I ordered so therefore its boring .

I did a lot of flatwork/work using the football goal posts to teach Kenz to go on ahead. Seemed to translate very nicely across to the agility obstacles with very little training.
-
AD I thought I had read somewhere that SG had toyed around with teaching her younger dog a running aframe but don't quote me on it.
-
:D Tiggy Kenz just gets way to fast for me if there are too many tunnels .
-
Well done Kavik on your JD title - not sure I'd describe a course with 5 tunnels fun though . I thought the novice jumping course we had with two in a row was bad enough :D .
-
RubyStar - considering I was ready to give it away after Tuesday evenings disaster of a training session she didn't do that badly. Its also the first time she has managed to put together an entire round at a trial without failing anything. Ah well fingers crossed we can put together another one next weekend and lets hope it wasn't just some cruel fluke.
-
If only I could sort this bloody seekback issue out - erm why do we decide at trials that we might nearly automatically finish with the article rather than present the bloody thing EVERY single time. I think Peter was being nice to me today because I would have failed her given where she ended up .
-
Well done Xena98 - maybe I should have asked Peter if I could have pinched one of Inka's points :D . Ah well next time maybe. Congratulations on Gabby's OC - so what next Ag Ch .
-
Just back from the obedience trial and it was case of oh so close yet so far. Finished up with a 169 in UD and didn't fail an exercise. Bugger. Hmmm maybe you aren't going to retire next weekend after all Ness ;) .

Touch wood I seem to have made it through the accidental bite stage and my hands are mostly intacted most of the time. That is unless I decide to run a training session when I am slightly tired and then its my fault more so then the dogs. .
