  1. Hang on huski - I ran and got two masters passes (one agility and one jumping) to finish off Ness's JDM title all with a badly sprained ankle. I also hobbled around an obedience ring the day before. And yep a friend and I showed up to find training cancelled due to the rain and we still trained .
  2. Well done Bedazzledx2 and Ptolomy on all the kids performances today - hope there is video especially of Soggy's round. Thanks for the updates. It must have been Ruby Mas1981 as Ptolomy sent me a text saying RubyStar was on a pass but obviously they hadn't done stays yet . Bugger about the drop stay sounds like it was a Ness thing. PS. Ptolomy glad my sit stay was useful for Soggy please return it after the Royal though.
  3. Yep the Jolly Ball one with the ropes through is fantastic. The rope seems to last and is a much more robust model then the actionball model.
  4. Dear Ptolomy - Have express posted one sit stay addressed to Soggy - Ness says please take care of it she will need it for the October long weekend but you can have it on loan until then. Signed, Ness PS. Will trade for one sit up in silent signals and one set of non broken articles.
  5. :D Kenz nearly sent my glasses flying when she launched herself skyward on Tuesday evening. Lucky I managed to save them because not sure they would have bounced off the slate floor.
  6. :D ValleyCBR - I can tell you its not where Kenz thought it was this morning when she was bouncing off the walls as I was trying to do some heelwork.
  7. ;) not very fancy ones emery. Ptolomy might find somebody else when she sees one I have come up with :D .
  8. Sure Ptolomy - send me through a few photos when you get a chance - consider it payment for my obedience lesson last week :D .
  9. Ptolomy I was just looking at your signature - think it needs updating :D but good news about having cleared the place and not found another snake.
  10. Yeah maybe I should apologize for gate crashing it
  11. The trophies Kenz wants to steal -
  12. Daisy is awesome Kenz is just complicated but thats a working dog for you . Yes Ness is an absolute superstar - pity Kenz keeps trying to claim the trophies from last weekend. Told her she has to earn her own and thinking she knows better on the agility course isn't the way you win some. Hmmm a Steve clone now thats a scary thought.
  13. Huski one bit of advice for not freaking out in the ring - work each and every round as though it will be your last and you fast learn not to stress out quite so much. Well least that is what I am finding now when I take Ness into the ring. We enjoy every minute of our time in there and whatever will be will be. Its a hobby after all and no sheep stations involved (well unless its the interclub challenge and you walk out with 3 nice big trophies because you weren't really playing for sheep stations and the old girl just happened to come through for you ).
  14. huski - you'll get there. The way I am feeling at the moment I would happily trade glaringly obvious for no bloody idea. Well no I lie I have a suspicion but thats as far as it goes.
  15. huski I was going to say the same re that last comment on handler's persona having an impact although sometimes it seems what compromises the trigger is something so small and seemingly insignificant that its impossible to nail down. Sometimes you just wish you could ask the dog what the hell is different between two seemingly similar scenarios - one where the dog shows drive, one where the dog melts down and won't go into drive. In the absence of being able to ask the dog it just does your head in trying to sort it out.
  16. I would also agree with how well Shell has done with Zero. I met Zero when I was staying with TerraNik and you would never have known he had issues with strange dogs. Shell you have done wonderful things with Zero.
  17. I don't think it seriously matters what you teach so long as you break it down for the dog into manageable bits. Kenz learned to hold a dumbbell/article as a baby at the same time she was learning to set up at heel and sit and drop. Not all in the one session obviously. She started doing some dog in a box work/sendaway work at maybe 14 weeks. Agree though about breaking up the heelwork into fragments and working on each fragment separately before combining it. So work on LAT/RAT turns separately and also short sections of heelwork with a sit or a drop or a stand before adding to that. Scent work and gloves are both also fun to teach once you have a dog doing a reliable retrieve .
  18. I go for the red wine and watching videos - maybe you better let the dog watch them too .
  19. Ptolomy I think RubyStars idea is the most preferable better hire a snake whisper too .
  20. Congrats to anybody I haven't congratulated. Sounds like there have been lots of good and even brilliant performances lately. Lets hope everybody's good run continues.
  21. Eeeek I can imagine Ptolomy - very scary. Glad to see everybody came out ok but I can bet your heart was in your mouth.
