Awwww can somebody take a video camera I wanna see some Strauss video . Ptolomy you seem to always be in the thick of suspicious activities - only the other week the fire alarm kept going off and now suspicious packages - hmmmm did it squeak might be another shipment of i-squeaks .
-
Hmmmm can I put up my hand to be Vice President of the Cider fan club if RubyStar is the President. Otherwise I'll just have to start my own Scoota fan club just so he doesn't feel left out.

We have a triple weekend next weekend - but I am only entered in the morning both days and now seriously reconsidering if I bother with her UD at all. I put her into Open as well so might just see how we go there and give UD a miss.

biker girl not sure how to maintain consistency we have had a reasonable break from trials and I found I was overly nervous today - not felt that way for ages and not sure why I felt that way today. Last trial she did so nicely and nearly pulled off a UD pass today was an absolute disaster and left me wondering why I am bothering at all .

amypie reckon they are out celebrating too hard to come and post brags although Ptolomy doesn't have net access until Tuesday so presume bedazzledx2 will come along and post when they have finished .
-
Well done Sue with Cindy and Cole and Janba .
-
Well no doubt Ptolomy and Bedazzledx2 are still at the Royal but I hear there were some very impressive performances by all of the kids today - Moo, Beans, Soggy and Brookie all sound like they were on fire - but will leave them to fill in the details. Well done guys impressive performance once again. Hope there is video . Thoroughly deserved and I am sure there will be plenty of celebrating into the small hours of tomorrow .
-
Well done AD with both CK and Xena - some fantastic runs there .
-
Best of luck RubyStar - hope to hear lots of positive results tomorrow and of course I have already wished Ptolomy and Bedazzledx2 all the best for tomorrow. Go get them .

There would have been more DWD happening if it hadn't happened to be on the same day as an agility trial .

Awwww baby beagle how cute ;) . ROFL Ptolomy about walking around saying I don't need a baby beagle. Hmmm not sure were you would find the time to train any more dogs at the moment . ETA. Not sure our DogsSA open days are worth copying they are seriously a little disorganised - the concept is ok just the way they are done and the dates they select leave a little to be desired. Funny you mention the obedience challenge - not sure that is a particularly well thought out suggestion either. Its one event that is never very well supported. I don't think it would work very well in WA either as a lot of top obedience people are only loosely affiliated with clubs. We do have an invitational event that is similar in principle to your WC event only I think its based on having achieved a single score over a particular number (I think but don't quote me its 185) rather than people submitting there top scores and taking the top 10 or whatever. However its just held on a normal trial day and not really in conjunction with any one event like a classic or an autumn international.

You could always get yourself a Toller or an Aussie Tiggy . For those of us not privileged enough to be a member of WA Click because we aren't in WA what did you say RS??

I have the one in the first link and use it on my two Border Collies and find it to be excellent. Nothing to compare it with though but it certainly seems to be good and much better then a human hair dryer . I bought the one in the first link after a friend who shows an Australian Shepherd recommended it to me. The company were really good to deal with and happily answered all my emails before purchase and promptly.

:D Ptolomy.

From a very nice ValleyCBR, RubyStar for having picked her up from the airport and copying some dvds for her when she was over in Adelaide for the royal. Completely unexpected and made my day . Little does she know I'd have done it just to have the 15 minutes of picking on from Ptolomy and Bedazzledx2 . It was lovely to meet Valley though - that rocky road was seriously scrummy. Now RubyStar why didn't you come over to compete too. Would love to meet you as well.

Bloody double posts.........

I wish I knew the answer kiesha - Kenz had a blast and didn't stop running the 2 and a half days we were away. Sometimes there is no answer and sometimes you just can't find one for want of looking.

My 10 year old got a microchipping tattoo done after she was desexed (she was chipped at the same time) but no desexing tattoo. When my younger one was desexed I requested no tattoo's - just a personal thing you can't really see them in the hairy ears of a BC anyway. If I was going to get anything it would be a microhipping tattoo - especially in light of the fact that microchips can move. At least they then know the dog has been chipped and they might look a little harder for a moved chip.

What I can't understand is the number of incidents I have had that have occured at club training or trial venues - surely these people might be a little more responsible then your average person who takes their dog out for a walk. Particularly which have occured by dogs who are competing. Sure all it might be is a dog chasing after yours and while their intentions might be honorable how is my youngster or I suppose to know that. Sometimes I wonder why I bother being a responsible owner. I had a women abuse me because her little while fluffy was spinning and launching at the end of an extenda lead while mine were off-lead playing in the creek because my older one took 2 steps towards it before I called her back and told her to leave it. I will also point out that I was between the dog and the women and the women was a good distance away and we were in a park where dogs must be under effective control and all the while the women is bringing her dog closer to mine yelling at me that her dog was attacked recently. Sure I appreciate that fact but mine weren't doing anything wrong and hers was dancing around at the end of a 3 m lead acting aggressively.

Hmmm the owner of the Weim that attacked Kenz and left puncture wounds a few months ago still let it off to run at the oval. I am forever stressing that we might encounter it again particularly since its very local. I had no problems with it in the past but now live in constant fear of another incident. Not helped by the fact we were in the middle of a training session on the far side of the oval so now live in constant worry about dogs rushing while we are busy training. And this same dog has issues with being scared of the world so the dog incidents aren't helping her cause. In fact we have spent 2 days away at our country place and I took both girls for a walk to the post box tonight and all Kenz wanted was for the ground to open up and swallow her whole. Very sad as she hasn't been that bad in 4 months . Sorry to hijack your thread kiesha - if you think catching up with Ness (not Kenz) would be of any benefit to your girl I am sure we can arrange something.

Nope its not fair but then life is never fair.

Yep Kenz is getting worse unfortunately and is shutting down around dogs to a greater extent then she has previously. She had a weim take a huge chunk out of her at a place I thought was safe to walk dogs (a school oval that we have been given permission to use). Does not help that this weim lives 5 houses down and walks around the district most days. Sniffing that its been somewhere is enough to send Kenz into a panic and she will shut down just going for a walk. She spied it on the far side of the oval with a fence in between and she was still slinking along as far as she could get from it. I have had other dogs chase after her at club training and also at trials with the most recent being a GSD lunging out the back of the car and the lead snapping and it coming after her. She totally shut down on me then ;). She hasn't been back to that ground since but I am hoping she copes ok as we are trialling there in a few weeks time. ETA. And as you are aware Kiesha Kenz didn't have a great view on dogs previously to all this. She can get a little defensive/protective of her space and this has not helped.

I am sure there are others who are more versed on the specifics then I am but it was more that the dogs are likely to remain on edge for 72 hours and so to try and avoid putting them in situations they might find a little stressful for that time until they have calmed down again. No different to humans after they have had a fight either - takes time for emotions to come back down to normal on both sides.
-
When something similar happened to Ness way back I was told to avoid contact with other dogs for around 72 hours. Something about time it takes for the chemicals released during the attack to dissipate (or at least thats the theory ). I certainly feel for you kiesha I have had a few unfortunate incidents in the past few months and Kenz is not taking it particularly well.
