  1. huski. Love the if hmm yeah well its a big if here as well for the moment .
  2. I use hand signals as its a little tricky to just use voice if you want to trial in UD.
  3. What do you mean fabel?? My girl will heel like that without food in her face, her primary reward is tug. She will also offer that sort of heelwork for anything she thinks I might have a game with and if I don't then she will find me something to reward her with .
  4. Happy Birthday Amber. Hope you have many good years ahead :).
  5. What about something used somewhere on a walk? Would be hard to determine what though but you might find somebody using something on a regular basis which she isn't at home.
  6. Ness says good - drop more of those little evil teeth and then we can do a meet .
  7. Its a bit of personal perference and what works for one dog might not work for another dog. I have had both of mine on joint guard and swapped them nearly two years ago over to RHVC. I wasn't sure I'd see any difference but did with both dogs. Possibly a bit of trial and error involved but I am happy enough with the RHVC. My oldie was showing signs of being lame in her front end while on joint guard but within a month of swapping her to the RHVC there was a huge difference. They both also get fish oil in addition to there RHVC. Mine have both had orthopaedic surgery - one a patella and one for a cruciate repair. The old girl is still tolerating twice daily walks of up to 1.5 hours despite being 12 months post a cruciate repair. You may have seen videos of my girls in the RHVC thread on DOL if you have read through the previous threads.
  8. I currently have 6 sets of knurled articles and no UD dog .
  9. I would possibly be thinking JRT and maybe a luxating patella. Especially the skip/hop lameness and then otherwise fine again. Mostly its just a case of monitoring and they can progressively deteriorate if that is what is going on.
  10. Since your in NSW you could try contracting K9Pro they have a program called K9 Angels which has been mentioned elsewhere. http://www.k9protraining.com.au/
  11. Definitely worth making the effort to see Steve if you get the opportunity. I wasn't sure to start with but the proof was in the results we achieved. Certainly brings out the best in the dog regardless of the genetics. My nervy timid dog definitely excelled as a result and her 196 and winning the ring to finish her novice title is something I will treasure forever.
  12. I find the hardest part is having my dog NOT look. We are still struggling on that particular concept . Oh and her latest reward of choice 0.5cm twigs and yes she really is insane. Great video as always - TID rules :).
  13. No different to a mobile phone "plan" either. If you break your phone before your plan is up you still have to pay out for the full length of the plan.
  14. I am not in Sydney but my girls video is apparently being used on the RHVC stall on their TVs so go check it out if you do go .
  15. Black dog smart leads/matching collars here.
  16. My word of advice - remember whatever breed you pick you still have to live with it and that includes consideration for living with it should for some reason it not be able to be the performance dog you wish. Might put a damper on things but life can sometimes get in the way of well intentioned plans.
  17. West beach seems to come and go as far as being good is concerned. Maybe it depends what you want as last time I headed down there it was a lot of standing around time for not many runs (and that was a trialling dog).
  18. Depends on the dog and the purpose of the coat - having a dog with exercise induced collapse which is helped by a cool coat I have tried 6 or so different varieties. My go to coat if we are out walking/training etc would be the cool runner. The saratoga was the one that dried the quickest and the least effective. The techkewl coats are good if you have a larger dog but not so great for wearing out all day. One thing to watch with coats if you want the dog to be active while wearing them is that they don't impede range of motion or movement. A lot do in my opinion which is fine when the dogs are walking/sitting in a crate at a show or trial but not if the dog is expected to be active while wearing them. I have tried a hurtta vest and didn't think the fit was particularly brilliant.
  19. Yes turkey necks are the staple in my girls prey packs this week - Adelaide dog are awesome :).
  20. Kialee - don't quote me but I think Dr Scott Rose at SA Vet has performed a pacemaker surgery. I saw it mentioned on the website or on the facebook page. He has only been over for about 18 months from the US. http://www.savet.com...cid=726&fid=672 I have dealt a little bit with him in relation to orthopaedic issues so can't give you any more information. I have had a pretty extensive dealing with the SA Vet clinic though and have been happy with how they have dealt with both my girls over the years.
  21. Have heard of people doing it in the US with BCs but they are fully committed to the dogs whenever they are home. I have 2 BCs yes we have a yard but where have they both been since we got back from a 45 min beach this morning - curled up sleeping in my bedroom. One is an oldie now but the other is a young and super active. It would definitely not be an impossible thing to do especially if you do have an area where you can toilet them right outside the door. Would certainly recommend considering something past the puppy stage or consider looking at a puppy going into the warmer months when it might be more practical to have lots of trips outside.
  22. Enjoy your retirement dear Scoota and make sure mum keeps giving you lots of jackpots and I am sure you will continue to train her for many years come .
