  1. TSD so long as it wasn't anything of mine. I was watching some of my early training videos the other week and nearly died in a fit of laughter it was THAT BAD!!!!
  2. yes they do slip collars as well as buckle collars at that site .
  3. NOR would be north of river compared to SOR which is south of river . Hmmm have an ask in the WA thread - I am sure there are other people who live NOR.
  4. Kenz has this one - Code P10007 - its very pretty .
  5. Bub I just received a collar from here: http://www.ykdogproducts.com.au/ykdecor.html. They are probably not super fancy but still they have a nice selection of purple collar options .
  6. You certainly can get smooth coated/short coated BCs as well as medium rough coats. The problem you will find is that yes they are only likely to be found in working lines and I am not sure I'd consider a lot of working lines - "low drive". Obviously they are being bred for working ability if they are breeding for anything (well at least if they are not a backyard breeder) and therefore the chances are the dogs will be dogs with reasonable amounts of energy (after all they are breeding working sheepdogs/border collies to perform a task). Again not always the case though but I guess if your looking for a "reputable" breeder you either get a breeder who is breeding conformation/showline/performance lines or working lines. All of the ANKC breeders listed at Dogs SA would be breeding for show type so all would have coat. The length can vary to some degree not all have the same excessively heavy coats. You might also find that the working breeders don't necessarily undertake the requisite health testing - Hips/Elbow scoring/TNS/CEA/CL DNA testing.
  7. Para do have puppy agility training from 6 months - or least they use to.
  8. I will try and take a video next week of Ness doing some weaving and post as a comparison to Kenz. Ness was trained using a variety of methods - luring (in/out), went back and did a little 2x2 work but not how 2x2 is done now - but more using 2 poles then adding another 2 then adding another 2. But obviously Ness is a different dog to Kenz and at the end of her agility career. She has always had reliable weavers but she isn't a super quick dog obviously. ETA. In the meantime this is one of Ness's rounds from last year I think I do tend to baby sit Ness's weavers a little more then I would Kenz's.This in contrast is Kenz's debut in JDO.
  9. Can't remember if this one was posted or not initially :D . And another
  10. The dogs aren't allowed to hassle us while we are eating but they do the "pre-rinse" before dishes or pans get put in the dishwasher. I had to laugh this morning - we had a BBQ last night and I looked out to find mum had actually put a chair up against the BBQ so that Ness could clean it off . Don't worry the pan is thoroughly heated before it is used again and of course its not like its not left open to the elements the rest of the time anyway.
  11. Para Districts and Dover Gardens are the two SA clubs that definitely have flyball.
  12. Yep speed was one of my criteria and it wasn't one I let up on. She was always tackling them at a million miles an hour. I didn't ever reward slow and careful but then she was never really slow and careful. A lot of the errors I had in the early stages were her blowing past the poles. I also gave her a few sessions then put her away for a month or so (for a few reasons) and then bringing her back out and starting from scratch again. She had the basic understanding and the month off seemed to bring more speed when we recommenced. Can't say the same about my contacts - Urgh she isn't slow she is just slower then I want .
  13. Not sure I agree DC. Kenz never did her 2x2s carefully and was always attacking her poles hard. I also wouldn't consider that she is slow through them now. I will say once we got to 12 I ended up offsetting them a little and having her drive through them hard (as SG recommends in her section on making there footwork consistent).
  14. page 2 - hmmm think a few WA people partied a little hard on Australia day probably why its so quiet .
  15. Wuffles - have a look at the Shirly Chong Click retrieve and work through that methodically and it should help sort the problem out. http://www.shirleychong.com/keepers/retrieve.html
  16. Its ok bedazzledx2 I sent Mason's mum to the link on how to measure a DB that is on one of the US sites so that should help. I am tossing up actually using a small for Kenz as the medium is just a little to big I find.
  17. Hmmm get a bit of dowel and have him hold it and then measure would be the best way. You don't want it to big and you don't want it to small.
  18. Mason2009 my two Border Collie girls both use a medium. And I am pretty sure Ptolomy's toller kids use a medium.
  19. Hmm not sure who told you SA follows - we still can't get Dances with Dogs up and running just yet. Very slow progress I can tell you that much.
  20. I have taken mine on holidays and in fact they have all been planned to coincide with dog trials or dog training but I have also been fortunate enough to stay with friends on all three occasions and recognise that makes it easier .
  21. And if all else fails just superglue the feet . Hmmmm maybe thats what I need to do with a certain black and white dog who has taken to moving a token back foot when I leave her again - urgh.
  22. Ok jokes aside - can you do a sfe on her? Will she stand still while you do one? What about will she stand still while a person walks around her but doesn't touch her?. Just go right back to basics and rebuild you have a little time and its worth it in the long run.
  23. Nope I kept my sfe after 4 and a bit weeks of injured dog but lost my metal article retrieve .
  24. ;) huski that is such a Ness trick - hmmmmm maybe I could have offered to send you her instead .
  25. So was it chocolate freckles last time Huski . Just take her her own supply of donuts and she will be set.
