  1. Ptolomy thats why you spent all those hours shovelling sand wasn't it - so that Strauss had somewhere cool to lie when he felt like it .
  2. ok I did third year biochem/chem and we had 3 days of 6 hour pracs a week - varying from organics/inorganics/structural and analytical techniques on the chem side and 6 hour molecular and cellular biology practs. Way to many prac hours ;) .
  3. ZG you can take the covers off - they apparently now make both sections with a zipper. I just toss the whole thing in the wash (well in 2 loads). I wash the middle separately to the outside. I also tend to use a blanket over the middle bit so will wash that more often then I wash the rest.
  4. My two BCs love the Snoozer Cuddler beds which sound a little similar. They have a middle cushion and an outer edge bit. Pretty sure they make a goldie sized model . ETA. http://www.snooza.com.au/products/cuddler.shtml
  5. Good luck with your tests RallyValley .
  6. Maybe one Royal I'll come over and do obedience - when I have a dog who isn't scared of the world - might be waiting a while . Although that would probably also necessitate that I stop breaking them as well.
  7. Noz-2-Noz bedazzledx2 they make soft crates. I have 2 K9+ soft crates and they are the ones I have used for the last couple of years for training and trials and still seem to be going ok.
  8. Nope no medication best we do is manage exercise and yes it does still get away from you regardless. I have been told though that the more "collapse" episodes they experience the less it takes to get them to that point in the future so I really do try hard to avoid them. I will mostly likely get around to having blood taken and submitted as part of the BCC study.
  9. Hi Kelpie-i - sorry saw this thread earlier but have been a little pre-occupied tonight with other things so haven't had a chance to respond yet. It is highly likely that my nearly 3 year old BC has this. It was suggested when she was around 14-16 months and if I look back on some of what she showed prior to this time it was certainly there. She is lucky to last 5-10 min of ball on a relatively mild day before she starts showing signs of collapse. She would then recover completely and be ready to go again inside 20-30 minutes. The most problematic weather conditions for me was actually the milder days rather than the really warm days. 20-24 degrees seems to cause her serious problems whereas 30/35 degree weather is less of an issue. I think maybe its because I was more careful with the warmer temperatures and pulled exercise sooner then I might have done in the early days with the more moderate temperatures. Kenz's exercise is pretty strictly managed. She gets a number of shorter training sessions/play sessions and I end the game before I notice her start to develop signs of collapse. We had a few really bad episodes in the early days and occasionally I get caught a little off guard and have resulted in needing to carry her home from the park. I make sure I have access to a cool coat with her for much of the year and we don't tend to plan long walks or long play sessions unless there is a water source nearby (creek, pool, beach). Her agility training sessions are kept right down to only a handful of rounds on a night and after she has done her run her cool coat gets put on until I run her again. We seem to be doing ok with managing and yes its frustrating because she is otherwise a fairly energetic high drive border collie. She doesn't sleep much during the day and I guess I have been in a position to provide her exercise needs in short bursts that avoid collapse.
  10. If he isn't broken Ptolomy you can send him here . Or wait maybe you should ask his baby-sitters who returned him whether they want him again .
  11. Well done wuffles and Ava fantastic work . All the best for your next trial.
  12. Well done Jedi . Now back to the serious business of more letters after his name .
  13. bedazzledx2. Hmmm I can counter offer your victory laps with a certain midgety black and white depositing no joke a 0.5cm sliver of bark in my lap and then backing up waiting for me to throw it. I humored her once and she bought it straight back and waited again. Anyone would think she is fed up with this shoulder injury as much as I am. Bring on a sound dog who can get back to training - been a long 4 months .
  14. LP a lot of the 2011 crufts HTM and Freestyle routines are available for free here: http://www.youtube.com/user/bluewyle?feature=chclk
  15. No help leopuppy but give your dog to Gina and give her a clicker and food and the dog won't stop offering backup . Eeeek Ness still does it when she thinks she has half a chance of food and its been years since Gina shaped that pesky behavior . That's what you get for loaning your dog for a training demo at pet expo one year
  16. Way to go Ptolomy with the good news on Beans and great news about Toby RV .
  17. bedazzledx2 well you do if its not your 10.5 year old that your trialling in UD :p .
  18. Hmmm good question LP - Ness is a bloody bugger I was going to retire her after the last trial but when she put in such a lovely performance I went off and entered a whole lot of others. Now after her performance on Saturday night I am not so sure .
  19. but LP UD is a whole new experience - Ness went from getting up to the drop in signals and missing the down to the trial on Saturday night where we got through seekback and the first sendaway and then on the second sendaway she went out between the jumps and stopped - URGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
