  1. A little bit - the heeling one I liked, the retrieve one I found a little unexciting.
  2. I just need to get myself somewhere to a trial :D. I have half a HTM routine planned to it already - just need a sound dog that I can train and trial again . Her new freestyle routine is going to be quite spiffy too .
  3. Nawwwww huski I was keeping that one to myself . That has Kenz's name all over it hahahha.
  4. - Crazy Little Thing Called Love - Michael Buble - Save the Last Dance for Me - Michael Buble - Bippity Boppity Boo (that was Kenz's HTMs Routine song). - I don't feel like Dancing - Scissor Sisters - Land Down Under - Men at Work - Supercalafragalisticexpaladious
  5. RubyStar - I have been having training withdrawal for months and not much I can do about it .
  6. We have a tug a jug as well I forgot about that - might give it a shot later she is presently downstairs eating a pigs ear after a trip to the local park (well she comes in the car and then lays on the grass at the park while Ness has a walk). Worry about the side to side death shaking though and what that will do to her shoulder though.
  7. Glad to hear Ruby is looking better RS. I have a mega stir crazy Kenz .
  8. Just reading the NZ obedience rules - now there is a little bit of common sense - only 2 min sit stay maximums and 5 min drop stays. Sounds like a brilliant idea if you ask me.
  9. No where near UDX but I think I will use wood for my SB exercise. Bloody dog hates metal enough as it is and blows hot and cold when we do UD articles so might as well at least go with an article type she will pick up . Ok will be back in this thread again in maybe 2020 will probably take us that long before we are able to get through UD .
  10. ROFL the 32.6% is probably the most statistically significant answer in the poll Staranais .
  11. BC4ME. I can so understand what bedazzledx2 is feeling - only we have it with UD not UDX. Oh so close and we just fail a single exercise and then next trial its all gone pearshaped . Mega mega frustrating.
  12. Way to go DSO and Jess fantastic stuff. So hows your UD training coming - you will be there in no time.
  13. Bugger about UDX Danni but like you said the conditions were miserable out there so I am sure Gabby will get it together soon . Well done on your Open and your UD with Inka. Now where is DSO hiding - I know she has a huge brag with Jess from this morning!!!!
  14. Just a quick note - I never link eye contact as a part of my stay behavior because eventually you need to disappear out of sight in the higher classes. Just something to think about.
  15. I might as well throw my young BCs story into the mix (I suspect she has been seen by the same specialist as yours Holly, I came across your post elsewhere when I was google searching today). We went the specialist Monday week ago and Kenz was booked in for x-rays and ultrasound scans last Wednesday. Kenz is a 3 year old BC who in December of 2010 was badly lame on her right shoulder. Normal vet diagnosed shoulder muscle injury and prescribed rimadyl and crate rest. I took her off to the chiro vet who I normally use a few days later and he treated some trigger points in her tricep and we were on restricted activity. Kenz improved and was only really intermittently lame at the end of a day but blink and you would miss it. Couple of rounds of acupuncture and she was about 90% better. Vet friend suggested I contact the physio and see what her take was on it. Kenz had a few rounds of treatment by the physio and I thought she was starting to come good. A few days after Easter she went backwards to the point we had a couple of days where she was limping more often then not, at which point after discussion with her physio and my vet friend we opted to go to the specialist centre for a consult. Her results are a little inconclusive - there is suspected ligament damage in the shoulder but the ultrasound ruled out major biceps lesions. Her pain responses were also a little inconsistent but she has a fairly high pain threshold. Did you get an ultrasound as well or just xrays?? She also isn't lame all the time but rather just waking up occasionally lame and warming out of it. At the moment we are on 3 weeks crate rest and then we are going to reassess and see what happens when I increase her exercise again. She is also having a course of cartrophen injections. In her case the recommendation at first instance is probably the steroid injection because of the degree of her lameness but its a bit of a wait and see game at the moment. I have been doing some reading re surgery however and it does appear that the rest of the muscles do adequately compensate and in almost all situations the dog is then fully recovered and able to do all normal activities. This is especially important to me as my youngster is a competitive obedience and agility dog.
  16. RV no I wouldn't like that - some of the dogs are very unpredictable in there behavior during ring work just as much as during stays. I can imagine having to do a sit stay while another dog is doing something would be equally as stressful for a dog. Lets just abolish them entirely.
  17. Reckon we should mount a petition for the removal of the sit stay at the next rule change . Hard luck Ptolomy but agree sit stays SUCK!!!! Nice to hear that Lars had a good time out at the trial .
  18. Good luck today with Ruby RS - will be thinking of you.
  19. Yeah tell me about it mirawee - spent more money on both of mine at the local vet tonight .
  20. MM I said similar in a PM re BCs. I know its not completely unheard of in the US for example to have BCs living in apartments. It just depends on what you are prepared to do with them and how much mental stimulation you are able to provide. As you say there are certainly lines with more drive then others. Some are total nutcases but some are much more happy to chill providing they get adequate exercise. Not all BCs are known for being self-exercising and just running non-stop. Some do but lots also seem to prefer to be doing something with there owners. We have a yard and unless I am out there with them neither of my two actually venture out much during the day, more often then not they are both snoozing somewhere inside the house. Just depends on the particular dog I guess.
  21. Oh I just ended up hanging up on mum saying whatever so she called back and gave me a 15 min lecture on what what I was doing was a bad idea and what I should be doing instead - involving sending her up to the property and letting her free run. Can't think of anything worse at the moment . Even when I explained to them I only wanted it so I could crate her when I wasn't home to supervise directly - even that was considered cruel . She isn't crated all day just when I don't want her fence running or being stupid. Speaking of which she has been so good all day with not looking lame and is now lame again . God I hope the cartrophen helps.
  22. Oi RS empty your PMs unless of course you have blocked me .
