  1. I would say it was the bull ants! Poor Herbert!! I suppose you can only keep an eye on his breathing and take advice from the vet. And be ready to drive him there! Calendula tea is quite good I believe, for topical application. Hope he's ok!
  2. Always used to set the timer for about 1pm. My lounge room faces west!! I'd put it on for the dog only to find that she was lying on the bathroom floor! It felt good to me tho!
  3. You certainly cannot get any better vet than Angus :D :D He is a caring, knowledgeable and empathetic man. He was so kind to me over 8 years and when Lani passed away. Glad that he has been with you on this long journey and that Danny is going OK.
  4. My girl had similar episodes starting from when she was about 4 months old. It was finally discovered after thousands of dollars and lot and lots of tests, that she actually had hip dysplasia. The pain and limping was showing up in her left shoulder, and this was because her right hip was the really bad one. Because she had a compromised gait she also developed really bad trigger points that spasmed and that was when she was in pain. They used to wake her up from a deep sleep and she would run around distressed.getting up from the ground also caused her to limp but she managed to run that out. But it was the spasming that caused her grief. She was also tested for OCD ? Osteodissecan? And polyarthropy? But nothing showed up She showed no problems when the joint was manipulated We managed it by acupuncture and had a wonderful vet who did trigger point therapy. We found that anti inflammatories had no effect as it essentially a muscular problem. It's very frustrating. Good luck Just reread your post. I' m just wondering whether when he was rushed by the dog it might have caused a soft tissue injury which has now tightened up and is spasming.
  5. Tick season seems to be getting longer. I live on the leafy North Shore with lots of possums! My vet told me to be extra vigilant between September and April. In that time I used to treat her every two weeks with advantix and a tick collar. As she got older I stopped the Advantix, used the tick collar and checked her twice a day. Nothing is better than giving your dog a nice massage and check between the toes, in the groin and under arms, in ears and up nose, and the eyes. It was our time and she loved it. It's better to go with touch rather than sight. As for fleas I used to use Comfortis when she had the fleas. Knocked them dead quickly.
  6. Yes Angus was very kind to me after I lost Lani. I was in shock as I lost her in 14 hours. He dropped around a lovely card and photo to my house. The card had some lovely words in it. You were very strong to resist the ice cream but the Mersey Valley cheese is almost as good! Hope Danny continues to improve
  7. Get the caramel popcorn ice cream from Coles... Very soothing!! It's a shame that SASH hasn't been as good with you and Danny as they can be. Are you still going to Angus? All good wishes for improvement and lots of cuddles
  8. Sometimes if a dog is overweight , it can cause pressure on the oesophagus and cause reflux. It certainly helped my girl when she lost weight and she was also put on Losec which also helped
  9. We had hail in Wahroonga while I was at work!! When I got home in Turramurra, there were trees and branches all around the back yard. Glad Bunter is home and happpy
  10. Don't know whether you have them in SA but I noticed our local Peter's meats has a lot of goat meat
  11. My vet has a poster on the wall
  12. I used to put it in my Cavalier's raw food and she ate it no problem. But she was a Cavalier!
  13. Just in regard to biting the leg.... My Cavalier would do this and would also jump up suddenly from her sleep. She had hip dysplasia and would get spasms and this was the only way to try and relieve it. She would look behind her to see who was annoying her! Once she had her trigger point therapy to release the muscles all was good. Not to say that ur pup has HD but maybe some sort of "kink" in a muscle. She could also not eat chicken or chicken based kibble. That gave her the runs and scratching. Red meat only and if it was really bad white fish and potato to settle her down. Good luck! YOur pup is beautiful :)
  14. Use it for myself and gave it to my old Cavalier with HD. I think it works well
  15. Got one off my Foxie last week. She is 15 and rarely goes outside and has been wearing her coat 24/7 . Found it in the crook of her leg. We are on the North Shore of Sydney and have lots of possums, so ticks are a year round problem for us!
  16. As I don't live in Melbourne can't help with a specialist but the symptoms sound very similar to what my girl was experiencing. Finally she was diagnosed with HD and because she was walking incorrectly she was suffering trigger points in her front left shoulder which in turn affected her neck. No amount of anti inflammatories or pain relief would help. The only thing that did was having trigger point therapy. We have a vet in NSW who specialises in this and was her saviour. Good luck it can be a very frustrating process
  17. I think there maybe something that human's use and is also for animal use. You could then buy it on script. Someone else may know, but I will dig through my files.
  18. Coming to Collaroy Cinema in NSW. Saw a trailer the other day..looks great
  19. Cranberry tablets. My girl was having UTI's and struvite crystals. But after 2weeks, she never had any other trouble.
  20. Sorry to hear the news about Myrtie. She is such a cutie If anyone can help , it is the vets at SASH. Who is treating her? Although they are all wonderful, I think Phil Brain is fabulous and ? Chris Greenwell was also great. Fingers crossed
  21. When my girl had the runs I found chicken and rice would help for a couple of days but would then become worse than before.. I put her on white fish and potato, fixed the runs and she never had chicken again and no more runs
  22. My girl was given Losec tablets for reflux as well as making sure she had something in her tummy before she went to bed. The vet used to write me a script and I had it filled at the pharmacy. It is a human medicine
  23. I was just about to suggest going to SAH. They took my Cavaliers tonsils out when she was 6 as they were affecting her breathing. It turns out they were pre cancerous so it was o good idea for us to have the op done. She was fine afterwards
