  1. I have been through the same thing with my girl and spent many thousands of dollars to end up with no definitive diagnosis except loose shoulder muscles. Took her to a vet who did acupuncture and trigger point therapy. It took about 4 sessions before I saw any improvement but now she only goes back every 3 months for a "tune up"
  2. That would be really exciting ;) Have emailed Loretta and just waiting for her to get back to me Thanks
  3. I get them at Woolies, cryovaced in a white plastic, for about $4.00 and there is about 3 in the packet
  4. Hi Mrsdog, I don't suppose you know anyone who runs classes on the Northside, for doggy dancing? TIA
  5. Thanks Squeak. I have been looking for somewhere that does this, but have had no luck so I'm really excited about the workshop
  6. I'm really interested as I have a Cavalier who has HD so we can't do agility. She has basic obedience and loves doing tricks. Would we have the basics for Dancing with Dogs? I think the only thing that would hold her back is me Can you use a clicker when training? My girl reacts really well to them. I have almost taught her to "play dead" in about an hour today
  7. I emailed NCTM asking about a short course for pet owners, at Charmhaven, which would be ideal as we have a holiday house at Budgewoi . The reply was "not yet but maybe in the future". Hopefully they get enough enquiries and run one.My dog has HD and the physio gave us some massgae techniques. She lies there in absolute bliss. As soon as I get out her mat she goes and gets ready to lie down on it. It's good for bonding too ;)
  8. My vet used to sell me Chlorhexidine which is the pink hand washing liquid that hospitals etc use. Much cheaper than Malaseb and worked better for the dog
  9. Could it be something connected to his teeth?
  10. That was exactly what happened to my Cavalier and after many weeks and thousands of dollars later the diagnosis was loose shoulder muscles which in turn caused very tight trigger points. Fixed by exercises from a canine physio and trigger point therapy from a vet. All is good now.She goes back every 3 months for a "tune up"
  11. My understanding was that the Cartrophen would only help if a dog had arthritis. I could be wrong
  12. en. . She is 6yo now and will remain on Joint Guard. I would like to try the Sylvet together with the Traumeel tablets, for which I have placed and order. We still use the Traumeel cream as a massage. I'm eager for any advice please. Sorry for the long post and I hope I've explained myself clearly. Where did you end up ordering the Traumeel tablets from,CavNrott ?
  13. No I don't think it's the Yoga room (it could be). It's a website and they used to have an online shop where I bought my Traumeel cream but I think that's been closed. I've emailed them for more info. It may go by another name but that one seems to be the "big" one in St Ives. I live just about 5 minutes drive away.
  14. Do you need to get the Sylvet Capsules from the vet? Also do you get the Traumeel from St. Ives. I use Traumeel cream but I suspect the tablets might be more effective. I would be very interested if you would educate me with these two product. Thanks. I get the Sylvet tablets from the vet and she also gets my Traumeel tablets for me too. I have tried health food stores and they don't seem to stock them. I think she goes direct to a supplier in Melbourne. Is it The Yoga Room, at St Ives that you get your Traumeel from? I go to see an osteopath there and she offerred me the tablets but I share the dogs
  15. I found the cost varies. The first vet I went to was $68.00 per session and the one that I use now was only $38.00 and she stays with us for the whole 1/2hour.
  16. I did think she was good. But she couldn't give me any guarantees that it would work and research is 50 / 50. North Hobart Veterinary Hospital is where I took him to see her. Will have to ring them about the acupuncture then. Oops... I was trying to download a photo of my dog asleep, while having acupuncture but didn't work
  17. We have also seen Sara Goldsmid, who I think is very good. so I would be guided by what she says. Listed on one of the sites I have, is North Hobart Veterinary Hospital, 273 Elizabeth St and they list that they have acupuncture and complementary medicine. It might be worth a phone call
  18. My Cavalier has HD and arthritis. I have given her the Cartophen shots and found she was good after the first one, no improvement after the 2nd and 3rd, but good again after the 4th. There is also a capsule called Sylvet, which is given once a week and has almost the same effect as the Cartrophen injections. My dog has a Traumeel tablet once a day, which is a homeopathic anti-inflammatory, acupuncture once a month and trigger point therapy and chiropractic treatment every 3 months. When we first started the acupuncture it was up and down for about 6 weeks but now really helps her. We also saw a cainine physio and do exercises every day. Just curious...how was the OCD diagnosed? Through x-ray. My girl was limping for months on her front left leg with all sorts of diagnosis, including OCD, but she had very tight trigger points. Once these were worked on, no more limping. Good luck with your puppy
  19. I'd be very happy to come up the M4 and use it for my dog that has HD
  20. Is the puppy still having chicken? I found that it was the culprit for my Cavalier's soft poops. She now only has red meat and if she has dry it is EP lamb and rice
  21. Tand S, you can buy Technyflex Canine over the net at Greenpet. My Cavalier has monthly acupuncture and regular trigger point therapy for her HD. She also takes a homeopathic anti inflammatory called traumeel. She is about to start her month of Cartrophen injections, as she has arthritis in her hips. I also put a wheat pack on her hips and massage them, the way that the physio showed us. I don't know whether it helps but she really likes it
  22. I also now feed lamb to my Cavalier, after her episodes with chicken. I'm about to introduce beef, so if the yucky poos come back at least I'll know what the problem is Chicken and rice definitely made it worse.
  23. My Cavalier had exactly the same thing. The same medications and put her on a chicken and rice diet. This made it worse. Finally clicked that it might be the chicken, then put her on fish and potato for abot 5 days and gave her slippery elm to help her bowel. This fixed her and now no chicken and no yellow, foamy, mucosy poos
  24. My Cavalier also has HD and she is nearly 4. She has acupuncture every month, trigger point therapy every 3 months, and sees a chiro when necessary. I also give her Flexicose every day and Traumeel, which is a homeopathic anti inflammatory. She also has a bit of arthritis and I will give her the 4 week series of Cartrophen injections before winter sets in. She doesn't limp or find it hard to get up but she tires more easily. We take it as we find it. Most days she goes for 2 walks and often chases the possums. When I first found out that she had it, I was devestated but there is life after HD
  25. Hi KateM, I'll look for the website and post when I find it
