Lani and I also get REALLY bored in "normal" obedience,so I was hoping for something that was fun and a bit of a challenge. If you go on to the US websites for Rally O, it looks as though it would be great. Oh well, I'll keep looking. Cheers

My 9 Year Old Rottie Girl Has Had A Stroke
CavsRcute replied to rakaaz's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
When our border collie had a stroke, we raised her food bowl when eating. We found that if she had to bend over, she often went straight into the dish At least I can laugh about it now!She also didn't like having her collar around her neck. She also loved to massaged-you are so lucky having a Bowen therapist "on tap". Good luck with Flynn -
Joint Specialist Recommendation

I would also recommend Helen Nicholson, the canine physio. I know she goes to Ku- Ring-Gai Vets, North Turramurra on Thursdays. And she is absolutely fantastic with the dogs...and their owners -
The Furminator doesn't work on a Cavalier as well as the Mars Coat King.

Does G. Barnsley Have A Website?
CavsRcute replied to Collie_lover's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I have a recent receipt(?sp) from him and there are no website details on that -
Mine's a Petmate from Pet Barn.

My tricolour girl has a very heavy coat(just ask Dru LOL). I keep her under control by using a good conditioner, brushing her every 3 days and using a Mars Coat King approx. every 2 weeks. I also clip that little bit of hair behind her ear that can get matted(the bit against the head) and it's no problem

Joint Specialist Recommendation
CavsRcute replied to Pheebs's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I can recommend Pam Short or Mark Hocking at Gladesville Vet Hospital. They were the vets who really sorted out my dog. She also sees Amanda Paul at Ku Ring Gai Vet Hospital for acupuncture once a month and takes a homeopathic anti inflammatory called Traumeel. She also has a liquid glusoamine called Flexicose. When this runs out I am going to try Technyflex which was recommended by her chiropractor. Good luck -
Furminator Vs Mars Coat King
CavsRcute replied to CavsRcute's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thanks for all the replies. I use a Coat King at the moment and it does get rid of a lot of fur but I have found if you do it too much it will cut the coat.. If the Furminator takes it out by the roots that might be better for her. She has fine hair but a lot of it I'll try and find someone who will let me borrow there's for a comparison -
Furminator Vs Mars Coat King
CavsRcute replied to CavsRcute's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
So Gretel, you don't think the Furminator would be any good for my heavily coated tri colour Cavalier. The one that you know and love -
Would anyone be able to tell me the difference between the fuminator and Coat King. I already use the Coat King on my Cavalier but just wondering whether the furminator does a different job. Thanks

There is a lady called Helen Nicholson who runs ?Animal Physiotherapy Services. She is a qualified animal physio and she goes all over Sydney but is based in, or very close to, The Blue Mountains. I think her email is [email protected] but google it and you will find the details. She can be hard to get hold of but keep perservering. If you need any further help PM me. What about acupuncture? We use a vet at Turramurra for my girl's HD and find it really works Good luck PS I drove from Glenwood to Turramurra yesterday and it only took me 35minutes. I know Helen is at Turramurra on some Thursdays, and so is Amanda for the acupuncture -
Dr Keith Phillips is at Jilliby, near Wyong. He is a vet who does chiropractic work and laser acupuncture. I think you can contact him under Animal Magnetism

I'm only guessing and say that it might be the Previcox, as my dog had problems as well. I now have her on a homeopathic anti inflammatory called Traumeel for her HD and arthritis.

Looking For A Good Vet In Sydneys Northern Suburbs
CavsRcute replied to ILuvAmstaffs's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Amanda Paul at Ku Ring-Gai vet hospital found out about the titre testing for me. She is only there on Thursday afternoon. Maybe Phillip Brain at Allambie Vets -
My Cavalier had exactly the same thing and I spent thousands of dollars with no definitive answer. We took her to a vet who does trigger point therapy and acupuncture. She was improved within about 4 visits and goes back every 3 months for a "tune up" and we do exercises at home. There was somebody on the forum who had exaclty the same thing with her dog and found a vet who does these treatments or similar, in Hobart. Mayb do a search.

The same thing happened to my Cavalier when she was on Rimadyl and she was changed to Metacam. I found that the chicken and rice made her worse so I gave her white fish and potato. Hope pup gets better soon

Manly and District Kennel and Dog training club are at ?Deep Creek Reserve along Wakehurst Parkway, Narrabeen on a ?Thursday moring and the weekend. That's probably not much help with details but if you Google it will come up

I have used a Black Dog martingdale collar with success. I put it on for about 5 mins every 1/2 hr and gave her treats when she was quiet and it only took her about 5 goes before she was comfortable

I taught my girl, using a clicker and treats. I sat on the floor and bent my knees. In my left hand I had a treat and lured the dog under my knees and clicked. When she went for the treat her bottom was up in the air and her paws came forward into the typical bow position. When she was able to do this regularly I got up off the floor and introduced the hand signal. All up it only took a couple of days to learn, in short bursts.
