Help Needed For Second Opinion
CavsRcute replied to sheenygirl's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
These people may be worth a try: 1.Helen Nicholson for physio 2. Gary Barnesly for chiropractic 3. Mark Hocking or Pam Short for trigger point therapy and acupuncture. 4. All Natural Vet, Russell Lea is also a holistic vet, who might be able to help Have you tried Sylvet capsules? Jointguard? There is also a vet who is doing stem cell transplants by taking some of the dogs own adipose tissue, spinning it and then injecting it into the affected joints. This is a new procedure in Australia and doesn't come cheap. Some of my friends also see Karen Hedberg at North Richmond You sound as though you are trying to do the best for Sasha. Good luck and PM if you need details ETA: Terrible spelling -
Just wondering if there are any updates on Brodie?

I had something similar to this.My heart rate was up to 250 beats. It was called Supraventricular tachycardia and it meant that I had an extra pathway to the heart and was causing electrical impulses. I know it may not be that same in a dog I was on medication for a long time and then had an ablation when they used a catheter to"blast" away the pathway. I've never had any trouble since and that was 11 years ago Hope all goes well with your little one...he is very cute

How Best To Treat Early Arthritis
CavsRcute replied to Perry's Mum's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Just a little hijack LOL Westiemum, Do you think the sylvet capsules have made a difference or do you think it's the combination of all the supplements? My girl is on Jointguard and fish oil as well as Traumeel for her HD, and the sylvet capsules were suggested by a vet a couple of months ago. The vet where we go for our acupuncture, also is doing stem cell transplants, which I'm also looking into. -

I have a Cavalier who has HD and is on Jointguard,Traumeel and has acupuncture. Would the Duralactin be helpful to her for joint problems? She loves to go for a walk twice a day but doesn't seem to have a lot of stamina. I'll PM you. Thanks for that. Have replied -

Stem Cell Treatment For Hip Dysplasia.
CavsRcute replied to badboyz's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Today I had my girl at the vets for her acupuncture for HD. It was the first time I had seen this particular vet and as we were having a general chat, I asked about stem cell transplant for HD and he told me they have already done the transplants on 50 dogs, and 49 had great results. He has also given me the names of owners of two dogs who have had the procedure done, and I will ring them in the next week or so. One is a lady I know in a round about way, and she is a straight talker, so I will be interested in hearing her opinion -
How Much Do You Pay For Titre Testing
CavsRcute replied to ~Midniara~'s topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I just paid $112.00 for parvo and distemper, and a quick general check up ETA Oops... Can't remember whether it was hepatitis or distemper but it was 2 diseases and definitely parvo -
Vestibular is something to do with the inner ear and cause symptoms such as turning in circles, head tilt, wobbling as it effects their balance. You'd probably get a good idea if you google it. Hope things are OK
-
There is an inner ear problem..?vestibular something that can sometimes cause similar symptoms to a stroke or fit. It's worth mentioning it to the vet . There has been a thread recently on DOL about it. Good luck.

I bought some from Pet Barn yesterday. They are the Best Care brand and a 5 kg box was $25.00. Also, my dog can't have any chicken so maybe that is giving the dog the runs.

Groomer/washer Wanted For Tomorrow

It's the one Friday I have to work, or I would have helped you out...I do have experience washing and drying a thick coat -
I had a chiropractor tell me that the clicking and cracking I could hear in myself, was the carbon dioxide escaping from between the joints. Also, when I take my girl for her trigger point therapy, if her shoulder cracks after the therapy, that is a good sign...certainly freaked me out the first time I heard it. I thought I had dislocated her shoulder

My girl first started limping on her front leg and many dollars later was diagnosed with HD. The reason she was limping was that she was trying to protect her hips. They also thought it might be OCD. She now has monthly acupuncture, stretching exercises from the physio every day, supplements and 3 monthly trigger point therapy. It was really the therapy that sorted out her front leg problem, as her muscles were so tight. Good luck
-
I'd agree with this combination and I also throw in some acupuncture and trigger point therapy
-
Laffi, Where did your bloods go to be tested? Was it Vetpath? $65.00 seems really cheap
-
I was able to open it but it's 181 pages, so I'll have to wait for another day to go through it

I had this problem with my Cavalier for months. The vets had no answer. Thousands of $$ later, it was discovered she had HD, and was protecting her hips and this led to her limpimg on the front leg.She now has acupuncture, occassionally chiro, we do exercises and find that trigger point therapy every 3 months irons out all the kinks. She is also on Joint Guard and Traumeel, which is a homeopathic anti inflammatory
