  1. Good to hear. She is a funny lady and a non stop talker and very knowledgable?sp) She was the only one who diagnosed my girls HD and has been great when we've seen her for follow ups. Probably time I made another appointment
  2. Gary Barnesley is a dog chiro at Greendale. Helen Nicholson is an animal physio who is based in the mountains but does have clinics in other areas. Her email is [email protected] phone: 4774 9756
  3. It can help with dry skin and some people use it every day. I find if I give it to my Cavalier every day she gets the runs! So she has 3 times a week. I think you need to add it gradually...not the whole capsule at once
  4. Thanks for that info. It was a long time ago that I tried to bring it in and it was in the liquid form. I might try the tablets
  5. I have found Petstock to be the cheapest for the Joint Guard, although it is not cheap, I found it better than the Sasha's Blend, but again, each dog is different. I heard acupuncture can help so anything is worth a try. You can buy Jointguard on line. If you google it you will find places like The Vet Shed etc. Acupuncture is well worth it
  6. What about traumeel which is a homeopathic anti inflammatory? I tried to bring Technyflex in from the US. They let in through twice and the third time they didn't, so it was a waste of money. Customs seem to change their minds
  7. My girl has Jointguard, about to start on Esther C, Traumeel which is a homeopathic anti inflammatory and monthly acupuncture, as well as 3 monthly trigger point therapy. I find that she is sorer in the humid weather. I didn't find that the Cartrophen did much for her but it helps others
  8. Thanks Cavandra. Would you be able to tell me ,or advise where to go to find out, how much Ester C I would need to give my girl? Does it go by weight? Powder or tablets? And if she's on Jointguard and Traumeel, would I keep her on these too? So may questions
  9. Sorry to hijack but....Cavandra, I have a 5 1/2 year old Cavalier that has a 1/2 grade right apical heart murmer with no clinical signs and was wondering what dosage and what brand of the CoEnzme Q10 could I use? Cheapest brand you can find as it is dear!, give her half per day (capsules, so prick it & squirt), with no vaccs, no junk, excersise, Vit e, & Ester C the most important thing! May never progress who knows, but dogs on commercial diets & over vaccinated (ie yearly) will progress..... Thanks for the info. I haven't vaccinated her for a couple of years and had her titre tested in August 08. She has 2 walks a day and is on a mostly raw diet with bones twice per week. With the Vitamin E how much for that? I tried Vitamin C and it gave her the runs. Is Ester C more easily absorbed? She also has HD and I tried the Vitamin C because of that. TIA

  11. Are you in Sydney? If you are I can recommend a couple of people that I take my Cavalier to for various joint"issues"
  12. My girl is now 51/2 and started about 9 -12 months ago. The tablets I have are from the chemist and I started her on them when she was on the antibiotics. The inner health capsules would be to help her bowel...sometimes they can get a gut problem like diarrea(?sp) I just use protexin all the time now. I've never heard about dogs with HD getting more UIT's but I suppose it could happen
  13. I have a Cavalier who has HD also. In the last 12 months she has had 3 UTI's.The last time they did the bladder tap and found that she had struvite crystals and her PH levels were very high. She also had x-rays for bladder stones but none there. I put her on Cranberry tablets and two weeks later her PH levels were normal and no crystals I have continued this and hopefully there will be no more problems. The tablets stop the bacteria adhering to the bladder wall. Good luck
  14. My vet at Balmain told me that they have had a HUGE increase in the number of tick cases they have seen becuase of the mulch that the owners have been buying for their gardens. The b***ards live in there
  15. This thread brought to my attention due to another thread in 'General'. Any news from the owners of the two dogs who had this procedure done, CavsRcute? I spoke to one lady with an 11 year old large breed rescue dog. She was pleased as the dog had only been able to walk 50 metres before collapsing but could now go for a longer stroll. In her eyes the dog seemed a lot happier...not in pain. This was a matter of about 4 weeks after the operation and she was hoping for more improvements
  16. I have seen that happen with an older pulli. The vet said that it had something to do with the fluid in her inner ear...there is a special name for it ?vestibular something. Not very helpful But if you don't have confidence in that vet, find another! Good luck
  17. We put Neotopic or Paw Paw ointment on the inflamed bits. I saw Pepe's photo in his hoodie and looks very cute Is he a mini foxie. Minnie also has Claratyne to help in the summer months
  18. I have PETSECURE and pay about $40.00/month. 80% back on accident and illness but not on pre existing conditions. $50.00 excess for the first claim on a new condition. I wouldn't be with out mine
  19. In my experience, you don't pay it over the internet anyway. I've always printed off the page and faxed it to them That's the way I do my orders too.
  20. I was interested in the workings of the breakaway collar. Noticed that there 2 D rings that appear to be not connected. What happens if they get caught on something? Do they release? Thanks for any info
  21. Can you try and get rid of the chicken? This will sometimes be the cause of the runs. Just to answer your question about the fish....I just used frozen fish fillets from woolies or Franklins. It wasn't a long term thing and these were quite ecomonical.
  22. When my girl had the runs I gave her chicken and rice but this made it worse. She had white fish and potao. This fixed it and every time she had chicken after that it happened again, so we realised that she had a sensitivity to poultry, and this includes turkey. She now only has lamb and beef and no problems. Slippery Elm and protexin are good to help settle the tummy
  23. Thanks for the info. My Cavalier is 5 years old,has HD and doesn't tolerate the heat very well. When I took her to the vet the other day, they took blood,at my request, and the only result that was a bit off was that her iron levels were at the lower end of normal. I think she was 36 and the lowest is 35. So of course off I went and googled, and there were a couple of sites that mentioned broccoli and anaemia. She doesn't have a lot of energy but I think that is more due to her HD. Anyway,we're going to retest in 2 weeks, and in the meantime a shot of cartophen and some acupuncture has made her a bit more sparky. I think it's time to get out the pram, which she loves, and take her for very early walks
