What Is Concidered A 'bland' Diet
CavsRcute replied to CheekyMonkey's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I give my girl white fish and boiled mashed(no milk) potato if she needs a bland night -
I would say a yeast infection. My girl has has one because of all the humid weather

Once again, Dog Agressive does not equal Human Agressive. I find people tend to say this common phrase to try and get their point across...some sort of shock value, shame it's terribly uneducated. Can show a very sweet photo of my dog agro dog with a child cuddled up to him fast asleep. I must be having a slow night but I don't understand the bolded statement

I have kicked a Border Collie who had attached itself to my Cavalier. It was being walked on the street, off lead, and ran across a busy road to get to us The owner was calling and of course it wasn't going back to her. She then says to me that the dog only takes notice of her husband :D I said if i ever saw the dog off the lead again, I would report her.....she lives across the road to me! Now whenever they see me they put it on a lead and avoid looking at me. Even the kids know. Apparently it attacked another dog on the oval last week...once again off lead in an on lead area. She didn't want to walk another 100 metres to the area for dogs. I didn't see it or I would have reported her. I told the others that they had to report but they didn't want to cause trouble She is a real bully and has caused a lot of trouble in our friendly street I wonder what happens when it hurts a child. :D

I use 1 tablet a day. I think they are 5000 mg

I also give my girl cranberry tablets after she had a run of UTI's( bad choice of words ) She had a really high PH level and struvite crystals but after being on the tablets for a month, all was back to normal! The tablets prevent the bacteria adhering to the bladder wall. Make sure she drinks a lot. Has she been to a groomer lately? The vet told me that occasionally girl dogs get an infection after being trimmed too close. I don't know how true this is...my girls infections didn't ever happen after being groomed.

This is the first time I have claimed for this illness. I have a $50.00 excess for each new illness and you only pay once per illness. The renewal came up in September and the was the first visit since then. It doesn't matter if it is the first visit or10th visit you will only get $10.00 back per consultation

Yet Another Trip To The Vet For Us...

Vaccination site or microchip? -
Look carefully next time you come up for renewal. This is when they change the inclusions, benefits etc. I have never had any problem with the before this and that's why I was so angry I'm going to look into further. I also noticed that I have been overcharged by $372.00 at the specialists. Have had the shingles, so haven't been concentrating but I can see that I will have to look at everything very carefully

I thought my Cavalier had to have her long soft palate resected and was told that it wasn't huge operation but it should be done by a specialist. It usually involves an overnight stay. Just to give you an idea, my girl had her tonsils out last week-they were 4 times bigger that they should have been, with changing cells. She had her operation at midday on the Monday and I brought her home on Tuesday afternoon. She had pain relief, antibiotics and was given an inti inflammatorie for any swelling. Soft food when she came home and by Friday i could see the change in her demeanor. Stopped the pain relief after 3 days at home and she is back to her normal diet. I believe the soft palate operation and after effects are very similar. Good luck

Thanks for the thoughts. I have spoken to them and they said anyone who has a policy with them, will only be getting back $10.00 per consultation, no matter what it is for or how much it was. I'm going off now to read through the policy document
-
They said they did but of course that's about the only piece of paper I can't find If they sent it and I didn't read it, I know it's my fault but it's also the fact that they are only paying $10.00 per consultation... no matter if it's $50.00 or $163.00 I will go and have another look. Thanks for the info.

I am so furious. : I have had pets insured with PETSECURE for over 12 years. Have just received a cheque from a recent claim and the maximum PETSECURE wil pay for a consultation is $10.00. Her specialist for the first 2 consultations was $163.00 per visit at a total of $326. Out of this i received a cheque for $20.00 and not the supposed 80% . Apparently this changed at the renewal in September. I wish she didn't have so many pre existing conditions or I would try elsewhere. So beware.....DO NOT BUY PETSECURE INSURANCE!!!

Would Tramadol be useful, although it is only a pain killer and I don't think that they are an anti infammatoires. My girl has just had them after her tonsillectomy

I buy the 2 x 2's in a bag for $4.95 from the local pet warehouse

Acupunture, supplements and trigger point therapy have helped my girl

Cats In The Reception Area Of The Vets
CavsRcute replied to ruthless's topic in General Dog Discussion
My girl doesn't have a problem with the resident cat but she HATES the bunnies that they have up on the desk for rehoming -
My stepfather attached rolling coasters to 2 pieces of wood and attached them to the wire crate. I then used to put everything in the crate and it still folded up

Thanks for your replies. She's a Cavalier, so she already knows how to put her nose into a yoghurt container She's at the vet at the moment waiting to have her tonsils out! I have also discovered wandering jew up in the part of the garden where she spends ages sniffing around. This may be a cause of her allergy, although most info I've read about it says it is more of a conact allergy
-
Just wondering whether anyone has used a ventolin type inhaler for their dog that has an allergy? My girl can't take cortisone and the vet has suggested this. Apparently you spray 2 puffs into a spacer and then you put it over the dogs nose and they breathe in twice. Cheers

Just Came Home From The Dog Kennel Disappointed
CavsRcute replied to Pete.the.dog's topic in General Dog Discussion
This is why I am so grateful that I leave my dog with a lady who only boards the same breed, and looks after her as though she was her own Even though it takes me nearly an hour to get there, I would travel further and the price is right She puts up with me ringing every day and has now become a good friend. And if my girl is there 7 days or longer she gets a bath and brush and if you could see the thickness of her coat, you would know this was a labour of love! -
Need Advice..what Can I Give The Dog?
CavsRcute replied to Freshstart16's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have heard that a neem oil spray can soothe as well as keeping fleas away...if this is the problem -
I have just ordered the Shoo Tag and will be using neem oil spray. I am trying to detox my girl as I think some of her "allergic" problems might be due to using Advantix every 2 weeks. We live in a very high tick area and I check her every night but still think we need extra help with ticks. The fleas have been really bad lately too. So will let you know. BTW she was still getting ticks with the Advantix
