Feeding something like dry baked or plain mashed pumpkin will help with the anal glands. Might be worth a trip to the chiropractor to have his pelvis checked too. :) Thank you - he gets a spoonful of pumpkin most days - perhaps not enough. Not to highjack the thread but I am curious as to the connection between anal glands and chiro?

I've tried various grain-free for my itchy boy for some time now and come to the conclusion it really does not make a difference at all - and he has trouble with his anal glands so I think I will source something with a bit of bulk. I looked at the new VIP grain free kibble but think they are a bit vague about the meat source.

Isn't Black Hawk a lamb based food? Lots of dogs seem to have trouble with lamb.

What does membership of this PIAA organisation represent? I had a look at their website and cannot see anything on there about what standards the members - that is groomers and kennels - are required to meet. Though I do note that these businesses quite often state they are members - what is that supposed to mean to clients. Do they just pay a joining fee and get to use the logo? I know this business was not a member - just wondering how people can recognise a trustworthy service provider.

Don't know about training but is there anything disturbing her in the laundry? She may be able to hear little critters about and it worries her.

Does anyone know if those dog rolls can be frozen? The premium rolls such as VAN and the new VIP Grain Free are huge. I would like to keep some on hand but its not very practical for people with one small doggy. -
Natural Pet Store have 20% off this product as an introductory offer. Still expensive though at $40.80 for 3.4 kgs on special. I thought the ingredients looked OK - not that much different than other quality grain free kibbles. It has "Garbanzo Beans" as the 3rd ingredient - not sure what that is (must refer to Mr Google :D ).

Personally, for this service I would prefer a vet that the dog does not know provided the person is kind and gentle with the animal. Many dogs would associate their regular vet with unpleasant experiences so it may be better for them to have a stranger visit - it may be less stressful for the dog. So very difficult for you whatever way it is done.

Dog Bitten While In Boarding Kennel
Rosetta replied to Bisart Dobes's topic in General Dog Discussion
That sounds a very good kennel - care to share the name? As someone who has a dog needing regular grooming and occasional kennel care I agree these threads raise some very worrying aspects. How do you trust anyone? -
I just had to register to express how very very sorry I am for you and poor Buddy and to express my absolute horror that something like this could happen. I note that you have already reported the incident to the RSPCA. I would consult a lawyer ( experienced in animal cruelty cases) to ascertain what options are available to you legally and what the maximum outcome could be as far as damages go. It may be that because dogs are treated as "property" that the potential amount of financial recompense may not be worth the legal costs. What this business would fear most would be the public exposure and any legal action may require that you do not discuss the case publicly. I think this business should be exposed for the shocking neglect that has caused Buddy's terrible death and as a warning to others of what can happen. Current affair shows I am sure would be interested if you should feel up to taking that path or at least exposure in the local press. I would also mention that I have actually seen this happen at a grooming salon before. The dog managed to free itself after a few seconds but it too had been left unattended. Again I am very very sorry .
