Its called Foodiepooch. Australian made and human grade ingredients. There does not seem to be any information about the protein, fat and other nutrient levels though. http://foodiepooch.com.au/menu/food-for-dogs/

A Little Dog's Journey To Safety
Rosetta replied to Her Majesty Dogmad's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Tragically, delightful little dogs such as these are being killed by their thousands in pounds every day because of us humans. Check out the thread in News about the Logan Pound stats. And yet with those stats they have a grand total of 6 dogs for sale for their site. http://www.logan.qld.gov.au/facilities-and-recreation/animals/dogs-for-sale. Many beautiful dogs - including what looks like a pure Bichon - impounded. What will happen to most of those? Easier to kill them than to try and work with a rescue group I guess. I admit I have been guilty of sending emails to people on Gumtree about breed rescue options etc. I am always very polite and some appreciate the information - some are nasty. -
Yes I would call it incompetence if the vet does not even keep accurate records of all treatments given to all dogs - no matter what time has elapsed. And no I would not return to this vet but how you can now tell if Jack has had the injection or not I don't know. Perhaps there is a blood test that could be done but that is a further imposition on the dog. Perhaps you could try ringing the vet surgery again and simply asking how you can be sure he has had the injection. I would not have any confidence in treatment prescribed by this vet.

that's great oakway, hope you have continued success! Rosetta sorry I don't know what breed of dog you have but one poo a day doesn't seem much, I'm not having a go at you and please everyone correct me if I'm wrong. When my two have their brekkie they always go and do a poo. When we go for our daily walk Stan always does two and Maddie does one, no fail it's always the same. They might sneak another one in after dinner I don't know but when I do poo patrol in the yard twice a week there's not much out there. A 5kg poodle :) I know once does not seem much it is more the increase to 3 times and whether I should be concerned about that - I don't know if it is because there is more "filler" in the food or whether it does not agree with him. -

I get your point Oakway. I just wonder if it is good for him to go from pooping once a day to 3 times :) -
That is truly appalling. Who has the contract to run the Logan Pound? Doesn't sound like any rescue group has a working relationship with them. If it is anything like Brisbane people would not even know where the pound is. Strange I was in Logan today and looked at their local paper. There was a small article about the pound and mentioned the number of animals "reunited" with their owners. I can't remember the figures but they were not that impressive and of course they did not mention the terrible real stats as stated above.

Getting a bit fed up with the additional "output" with this food - though otherwise seems OK. I really wanted to stick to an Aussie brand. Are there any other Australian made besides BH, VIP, Natures Gift, VAN and Advance I could try? -
Isn't it your first criteria? What happens when no non-shedding dog is suitable to a person's lifestyle? Most of them are terriers and I can't think of nothing worse than a terrier breed in the hands of someone who doesn't get terriers. I didn't think most of the non-shedders were Terriers? I can only think of the Poodles, Bichons, Maltese, Shitzu, Lhasa, Havanese etc, quite a few to choose from - none of which are Terriers. Surely one of those would be suitable for most people?

Agree with this - another vet visit seems in order. Good luck with her - such suffering poor thing.

Just saw this ad. He is a beautiful dog but I have never got the whole "dog humping = funny" thing. Its very American.
-
If you must use a dog park - which I think are dangerous places particularly for small breed dogs - perhaps you could only take him very early or late when fewer dogs are around. I agree that long leads can be more of a problem than a benefit in a dog park.
-
I have a non shedder - poodle - but have to say I was not prepared for the amount of maintenance even clipped off. I didn't want to deal with dog hair over everything. I think people also have the perception that non shedding equals no doggy odour as well which is not always the case - I still bathe him weekly. I think the ongoing grooming requirements of a lot of the non shedding breeds may be a reason so many end up in shelters and some of the crosses between the curly coated and straight coated make for particularly difficult coats IMO.

Sorry, I have not read through more than two or three posts though I have to ask why "Tikira" thinks it is ok that any child IS GIVEN (under adult supervision) ANY oppotunity to interact with a dog so poorly? ETA Sorry not the Op. Agree - no dog should have to put up with that type of thing. Though I am sure Tikira doesn't really think that is OK :)

I have no suggestions but just want to wish you well in resolving this very difficult situation. Good on you for asking for advice - its not easy.

Cavalier :) Though would be more worried about injuries to the dog than the toddler!

Animal Rehoming Service Inc
Rosetta replied to Snout Girl's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
I would have thought a couple like that would be the ideal home for a rescue - pity there are not more of them. :) Also the family should complain - in writing - to the rescue group in question. Obviously the person has some sort of personality problem - they may not know how their brand is being trashed - it only takes one episode like that and the word spreads around fast. I am sure there will be plenty of rescues lining up with candidates for such a good home. -
Have you tried a Thundershirt? Or you could try a snug t-shirt - it works the same way.

I have definitely noticed more output as well. Mine has gone from a once a day boy to about three times a day. His anal glands have improved though. :) I am on my second bag at the moment and will decide whether to continue when that bag is nearly finished. -
I am interested in exactly why he considered the BH a "rubbish food"? I would want some explanation. My vet and I don't even discuss food - well not after the initial consultation where he recommended the Science one :D

Why Is It Funny For A Dog To Be Aggressive
Rosetta replied to lovemesideways's topic in General Dog Discussion
That is a great chart! I have a high strung dog and he quite often does the "shake off" - now I know it is to relieve his stress :) I asked the vet a few times why he does it so often and his response has always been "oh - dogs just do that". Well they do if they are nervous apparently :D -

I am not using VIP because of the cost factor. I am using it because when I compare the ingredients with the so called "premium kibbles" it compares well. That and the fact it is so readily available. I found Taste of the Wild good as well but such a pain to source. -

Oh yes that is very important. It may effect any behavioural assessment.
