I don't judge people who responsibly rehome their dogs. That means finding the best home and vetting the dog's living arrangements and asking some pointed questions about willingness to maintain grooming and vet care etc. It also means cutting ties. What I don't condone is "free to good home" without caring who takes them.

Life Ban On Owning Pets Handed Out In Tasmanian Court
Rosetta replied to Salukifan's topic in In The News
They may have been kept together in a cage making it difficult to define them. Considering the outcome of the court case I doubt if there was any sensationalism in the report. At last a bit of justice for an animal. -
Product of Thailand - would not trust it.

It seems to me the obvious thing to try first is to remove the dog from the stimuli as much as possible. A quiet room inside or an enclosed den outside for a few hours a day may quieten her down. The OP has checked with the neighbours and nobody is bothered. It is better to try simple measures first rather than calling in behaviourists etc. Hopefully she is allowed inside Hunny?

Unless it bothers you or you have complaints I wouldn't worry about it personally. But if you need to use a collar I think the vibration collar is the best to start with - the most gentle option IMO - and better than the citronella collar which behaviourists have told me is awful for dogs.

Do people really have the inclination to trawl through hundreds of other people's posts and proclaim them negative, lies or just plain nuts  Back to the topic though I agree with Pepe - you would have to wonder how effective the dog would potentially be in such a situation. He did well under the circumstances IMO.

Groomer Recommendations In Newcastle Nsw

Maybe I am reading it wrong but it appears you have to join and pay a membership fee to view the list of businesses? -
What Happens To Pet Shop Puppies....
Rosetta replied to CrazyCresties's topic in General Dog Discussion
Honestly purely from a business perspective I doubt whether it would be common to PTS - they would want to recoup some money even at a loss rather than nothing at all. Poor pups - I can't even stand to look and avoid them in shopping centres -
It wasn't deliberate according to the TV news reports.

I saw this on the news. It all occurred in the pounding surf and looked like the handler was bitten by mistake in the fray.

Absolutely do not use any worming product containing heartworm prevention if your dog is already on the yearly injection. I prefer the monthly dose as well.
-
Me neither. Unless your dog has allergies, what's the difference between grain as a filler and starchy vegetables or beet pulp as fillers? Kind of echoes the gluten free fad for humans at the moment. I don't like beet pulp because I have noted a marked increase in tear staining with any product containing it.

Before And After Shots

What a lovely boy! Hope he finds a kind home now for the rest of his days - someone will get a loyal little companion :) -
Good boy Rupee! A great story and a great way to raise awareness.
-
No I haven't used it but it reminds me of the VIP list of ingredients - the meat list is a bit vague. I don't like beet pulp either. There are probably better grain free options around.

Contact your nearest veterinary hospital - they usually will have wildlife carer contacts available. Or contact the RSPCA.

Obviously English is not first language here and the cultural approach may be different. What is missing is why she is interested - is she looking for a companion to her current dog? I probably would reply with some information about why every dog will come with a price tag attached for reasons of costs incurred and because they all have value no matter the age. Also that each potential home is vetted for standards of care that will be provided to the dog.

Wspa Is Headed For The Philippines

I don't agree - there is plenty of help for the people from aid agencies and foreign governments. Co-ordination is the challenge. This would be the only source of assistance for animals and is needed. -
Dogs Get 3rd Degree Burns At A Canberra Groomers
Rosetta replied to Her Majesty Dogmad's topic in In The News
The question is how far can you "go after" these people? They can be charged with animal cruelty - paltry fine in most cases. You can claim compensation as dogs are viewed as property you would receive the dollar value of the dog. How far legal action would succeed if you sued for emotional trauma to yourself is the interesting question. -
Australian Animal Welfare Advisory Council Abolished
Rosetta replied to Danois's topic in In The News
Please don't turn this into yet another Tony Abbott bashing thread - stick to the one in OT. It clouds the issue. I would like to see the outcomes and deliverables achieved by these committees. Having worked in government I have seen all too clearly how useless many committees are - basically just feel good talk-fests. As regards the core issue of animal exports and welfare I come down on the side of banning live exports altogether - but that isn't going to happen. I was listening to Warren Truss talking about this issue and he was saying that Australia is the only live exporting country who takes any interest in the welfare of our animals once they leave our shore - that is we have people on the ground working to improve conditions in receiving countries. You can't change the culture of other countries unfortunately. Perhaps that is what this committee was overseeing? Has that role been devolved elsewhere? I need to do some more research. Certainly I don't think any coloured government will put animal welfare before the economy, diplomatic relations with touchy neighbours and the bushie voting bloc. -
Those people have no class - I love the Standards in full trim. So elegant :)

Speaking of ads - I love the New Idea one with the Boxer.

And those crazy ladies are usually the first to dip into their pockets and donate to rescue groups. A rescue group was collecting outside our local shopping centre today. Guess who were the ones stopping and donating - yes older ladies. Young people, families with kids....nope.

A Big Dog Attacked My Toy Poodle X
Rosetta replied to Simply Grand's topic in General Dog Discussion
I don't understand - did this incident occur or not Regardless my opinion about dog parks will not change. If you have a small dog avoid, avoid. Only consider if there is a separate section for small dogs and then be vigilant as small dogs can hurt other small dogs also.
