  1. Have a bosch front loader and love it, its never missed a beat. Dog beds and everything go in it and never had a problem. Not bad considering i shed more hair than either dog. Years ago I had a fisher and paykel smartdrive toploader and was also very happy with that. My ex had an ariston front loader which wasnt bad but died 6 weeks out of warranty so i wouldnt buy another one, once bitten-twice shy, i guess.
  2. IMHO...give nek's ways your all. Her advice is sound. As well, she is helping you provide Roo with the ability to self manage her problems rather than being dependent on meds. You are a beautiful person for going to these lengths for your girl. If its true that that which does not kill you will make you stronger, you should have super-powers by now! Good luck.
  3. I had no idea how common the were until i started working at a vet clinic. Wow. I couldnt contemplate leaving a bitch entire after that, unless specifically for breeding (unlikely for me).
  4. I think the blow-up ones look like a great idea. I will be picking one up to have around "just in case". Already have an Elizabethan in the cupboard in case my boy needed it after his lumpectomy. A lot of dogs do pick and lick at their stitches and it does cause swelling, irritation and sonetimes infection. Vets arent being greedy suggesting you take one, simply covering their butts in case a client comes back later with an open spey wound claiming that they "werent warned" and refusing to pay for resulting costs. Fair enough in my opinion-you can say no if you choose to. Ten bucks is cheap insurance against complications. I remember one client proudly telling me how he'd chopped up a flowerpot to save his ten dollars. Cost him twenty four for antibiotics to fix the lacerations on his dogs neck and throat afterwards.
  5. The "blue" owners are determined to make their money back. Not one of them will desex...even the ones with the genetic "issues". In fact, since theyre spending more on vets bills, they are more keen to breed. Be warned.
  6. I remember hearing once that the only thing that you'll ever hear two dog trainers agree on is what the third one is doing wrong...this may be an exaggeration but does have a grain of truth to it. If you are passing on to him every piece of information given to you, as well as handing him Dog Whisperer Dvds to watch, there is a very good chance that you might be overwhelming him. Recommend a good trainer and let them take the reins from there. The opinions of people that have not SEEN this dog or its alleged issues may do more harm than good. I dont doubt that your intentions are good but think about how much good you can reasonably do here. People that dont have knowledge of dog aggression, in a situation like this, are as useful as someone that doesnt know first-aid "helping" the paramedics at the scene of an accident.
  7. I wouldnt. No way, not ever. My car was stolen from outside woolies in under 8 minutes, it was bad enough not knowing what happened to my poor car. I know I would never forgive myself if my dog went missing. Another staffy went missing (likely stolen) just today in vic. The potential consequences, for me, outweigh the convenience. Friends of mine, however, tied their malamute outside a cafe where they could see him, only about 30 metres from a busker. They saw people crowding around the dog and later found out that people had thrown coins into his water bowl, rather than the buskers hat. They found this quite amusing.
  8. The RSPCA would not be able to do much about it. Not because they dont care but because legally, their hands are pretty well tied if the dog is under shelter and has water. Maybe contact the council?
  9. 1.The most disgusting muddy boot available, has, on many occasions, been known to end up on our pillows. God bless the disgusting creature, only a mummy could love him at these moments(and daddy of course!!). 2.Socks/shoes/undies/bras can also end up on his bed. 3. Shrieks the windows out if a cat dares walk past the house.
  10. Wonder if there's one for people
  11. The explorer and the tribute are in effect the same car rebadged. The x-trail would most likely be different. Biders 4wd in Cranbourne do a great job with any fabrication and welding work and are usually really well-priced. Show them a photo of what you want and they will be able to make it for you. http://biders4wd.com.au/ 14 Gordon St Factory 1/14 Cranbourne, VIC 5998 4689
  12. Years ago, I was walking past the shops across the road from my place when a lab jumped out of a van to come and greet me (I was carrying fish and chips!). The owner came out of a shop that they were obviously doing work in, threw the dog back in the van and kicked it on the way in. I told him straight out that what he'd done was illegal and cruel. He told me to mind my ownn, so I noted his rego and business name on the van and called the RSPCA. I followed up on the complaint and was informed that an inspector had gone to the business headquarters and eventually had seen the dog. The dog had seemed timid and a bit sore in places but nothing severe so the owner was never prosecuted. I doubt that it stopped his behaviour behind closed doors at all but hopefully the fact that someone was disgusted enough by his actions to report him made him examine his behaviour just a little bit.
