  1. I am so sorry Jelly. Roo was one very lucky dog to have have you in her corner. Go gently
  2. Is there anyone near you that can call in and play with the puppy through the day? Or another friend with a similar ages pup that he could play with. My last dog I got when I lived by myself, worked full time and had a competition horse in full work. My step dad just happened to be on holidays for 4 weeks, so would go over at lunchtime, play with & feed her lunch. I'd call past and pick her up about 4.30 and take her to the paddock with me, whilst I was riding the horse she'd be in the stable and then we'd have a play after that. Once my step dad went back to work, my friend would drop her pup over about 6am and they would be alone together until she picked her dog up around 3pm. This worked really well and we only stopped doing it after they were about 7 months old. Yes my backyard was a mess but they actually got up to more trouble when they were alone LOL Sorry to hear about the break up, I'm sure your pup will be a great distraction
  3. https://www.ozpetshop.com.au/product_info.php/products_id/3256 what about this one - fully adjustable
  4. I love the look of these ones, I'm waiting for our flooring to be done & then I can justify getting one - after all I'd hate the bowls on the new floors  Not to mention that you can get matching beds
  5. Any confirmation on the Melbourne workshop as yet? Location & dates?
  6. where on earth is the training ground? Is that the area on John Street? There is a large area off to the side - where the old football field used to be. But not sure that it would be big enough & where would everyone park?
  7. Bahahahaha almost spat my tea at the screen Love the dogs work
  8. Berwick Obedience Dog Club Inc. McKenzie Lane in Narre Warren North. http://www.berwickodc.asn.au/ Obedience, Agility, Flyball - I have seen some Rally O rings set up before. They train on a Saturday afternoon.
  9. I have a very distracted 8 month old Brittany and have just gone back to dog club after some private tuition and practise at home. I explained to the instructor what my goals are with him & that I would be moving away from the class if I felt it was all getting to much for him or if he was just getting too distracted. She thought that was a great idea and is all for it. Sometimes I go off and have a game of tug with him, just to break it up or to help get his focus back on me, or I will just move away but keep doing what everyone else is doing - it all depends on how I feel he is going. The difference it has made has been huge. I also find that playing with him in his little breaks helps me to keep it fun for the both of us. Nothing worse than spending the tie both hating it.
  10. I've really backed off training in blocks and have started just doing bit & pieces out on our walk, when he comes inside, when I go outside, just when ever. I've even been getting my kids to help out by throwing/rolling toys past him to help with his distraction work. Even when playing fetch I mix it up by making him wait until I release him to get the ball. We're both enjoying it and hopefully neither of us will get stale
  11. Had a great time, thank for organising it. We'll definitely be going next year
  12. Yes my boy is Murphy. I've had words with him to please be on his best behaviour he's still only young and very exuberant.
  13. Any idea of location for the Melbourne one?? (pushing my luck)
  14. Me too, just hope this ghastly wind stops & the weather holds out until we're all done :)
  15. VIC will be in November :D Great news - I'll be keeping an eye out to make sure I don't miss out. I'm on the email list & am following on facebook.
  16. what about taking her to the junior football on the weekends? There are not just kids around but loads of different noises
  17. when do you think he'll be coming to Melbourne?
  18. After doing loads of research for a family dog, something that I could do agility & obedience with we decided on a Brittany. Prior to starting my research I'd never heard of them. Ours is a real character with loads of energy, pretty quick to learn. He does have the attention span of a flea, but his Mum and brother are much more attentive. (I go the bossy independent one of the litter LOL)
  19. Oh so glad I came one here, I just sent an email to check if they were still taking bookings I'll transfer the money in the morning & email the form.
  20. Poor old fella, I hope that someone can take him & help him get a bit more healthy
  21. Murphy had been vaccinated with the C3 at 6 weeks of age. I took him for a check up within a few days of bringing him home & the vet said to bring him back at 10 weeks for a C5 vaccine. He doesn't need another one until 14 months now. I phone a few vets around this area and they all advised me that if he had the C5 then he only needed the 1 between 10 - 14 weeks. He was allowed to start obedience with this schedule as well.
  22. Oops sorry just dug through to find the receipt & it's a large not medium. Murphy is 7 months old, I'm thinking that he is almost at his adult height not far off it anyway.
  23. Knock on the door &^ask if they want to re-home the dog or call the ranger & have the dog picked up, then if it's not claimed adopt it through the pound. Maybe let the ranger know in advance??
