have you considered Bowen? My friend had a dog that was totally crippled, somehow stumbled onto a Bowen Therapist, the result was so wonderful that she decided to study it herself and now treats dogs, horses and people. She's not far from Cranbourne if you were interested

Congratulations to you both. Stunning photos -
Can you contact the breeders up there and arrange to met?

I get told I have WAY too many rules and they just can't remember them all. I really only have one rule & that is four on the floor before any patting/talking etc. Most people don't bother listening to me and despite that she is slowly getting the hang of what is expected of her.

If it's on the way to/from school contact the school immediately - take a photo of the children doing it so that they can speak with them. We had some kids teasing a dog on the way too school, the whole school got a talking to at assembly and those children that had been doing it were in big trouble.

I love that it sounds like she is really focused on finding out a lot about the people that will be taking on her babies. Okay you might not want to send a photo of yourself but what will it matter in six years time when you have the perfect pup - one that has most likely been matched to you, with the information that you have supplied. The what drives you, I took as in the dog world - like do you want to do obedience, or other dog sports, are you active etc. One puppy from that litter might be a couch potato, whilst it's siblings might need loads of metal stimulation and exercise. Some puppies are more independent whilst others need someone there all the time. Our breeder spoke with us a great length, had me complete a very detailed questionnaire and even after that would not guarantee a puppy until she has met with our entire family. After meeting with us and seeing our family dynamic she explained how she allocated the puppies - this didn't happen until their temperaments were more developed. We weren't even sure if we were going to get our preferred gender, as temperament was the most important thing for us. It's only been a short time but I am still in regular contact with her, via facebook, email and phone calls to see how everything is going. I know that I can phone her for anything and have her help and support. A good breeder is worth their weight in gold as far as I'm concerned, it really shows that they actually care about the breed and not the money.

My link can't find the hurfy durfy one but found this - this should do the trick

you can get covers that go onto the seat belt bit that stop them from opening them - mainly used for baby seats to stop people sitting next to them from undoing the incorrect on. They're called hurfy durfy or something like that.

maybe see if you can borrow some other people/dogs things to see if there is something that they really like. I'd tried so many things & happened to be training with someone that had something that my boy just loved. Found the squiggle it from clean run - which was very similar and that was the only thing that he wanted to tug with. I tried a few other things after he'd learnt to enjoy a game of tug, but nope, just didn't like them.

My first "own" dog was a Rottweiler, I still lived at home with my parents and when I moved out they convinced me to leave her there with them as they'd miss her too much. For a first time owner? I think if you were going to have help with training then yes, I joined an obedience club but really struggled so stopped going. Finally got some ladies from the Rottweiler Club to come and help me with training when she was around 2 and it was like a light went off in her head. She was a lovely kind dog that got along with everyone and came most places with me, but she was silly and crazy until she hit 2. Not sure how to attach a picture, but if I work it out I'll put one in.

Which Breed Is Right For The First Time Dog Owner?
Justrace replied to Pretty Miss Emma's topic in General Dog Discussion
My first dog was a Rottweiler, so many people told me (after I already had her) that it was a bad choice That " bad choice" changed so many peoples mind on the so called aggressive, vicious Rottweilers. She was fantastic with other dogs of all shapes and sizes & loved people. Sadly she only lived until she was 8. She was from a back yard breeder with serious allergies and other health issues, so no idea where her wonderful temperament came from, but she was a lovely first dog. -
Way too cute

Tricks/ Commands For A Young Puppy?
Justrace replied to miss2's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
great questions, I'll be watching for answers. From training with my old girl, a really really long time ago, we aimed to get hand commands on their own, more than the voice commands. Great for when you are working long distances from your dog. Not sure if they do it that way anymore - things have changed a lot in the past 15 years -
Do You Love One Breed But Not Love A Similar Breed?
Justrace replied to Simply Grand's topic in General Dog Discussion
I love Rottweilers but don't like Dobes. They are not as versatile or robust. And are more aloof. Same, Dobermans just don't seem like my type of dog -
You'd probably find that the horses would be fine with the dogs if they did start to chase. We used to turn the horses at any charging/barking dogs and 99.9% of the time the dogs would stop in their tracks. We'd only turn the horses toward the dogs so that they could see what was making the noise. I can't see and issue with it really, most horsey people are familiar around dogs too (most have both) Edited to add: I read it as the horses were just going through the track to get to/from the beach?? I don't think I'd ride in an off lead park where there were loads of dogs. That might be a bit too busy but if that were the only way to the beach then maybe - it would depend on my horse (had some crazy ones in the past lol)

Leah82 I think your inlaws are lucky he was still there when you left. Can you ask where they got that name tag from, I've been on the look out for one like that -
Try using your puppy's meals to treat him when he is doing anything good. Even just lying there doing nothing is behaviour that you want. Try calling him to you with pup, pup, pup & treat just for coming - even just a few steps at this stage.

Contact your council, I'd probably contact the police as well just so that they are aware in case anything more serious happens.

Could you just use a cotton sheet? Easy to wash and shake out if required. My girl used to squish in between the kids car seats sitting on a sheet
