our sharpei was the same as a pup, well sort of, would chase the cats but never rip hair out etc. we put him on harness and lead and walked him around the cat, whenever he lunged forward to try and chase them we tugged the lead back, told him NO and SIT. took about 5 days and he was over it, they have got a long great ever since.

can't say i've ever met or come across anyone with a purebred maltese, plenty of purebred maltese shihtzu's though..

the vet we took our sharpei to be desexed at actually gave me a lecture about doing it as he had a female and apparently he would produce amazing puppies with her would hate to know how many people he has actually talked out of desexing their pets.. needless to say we found another vet quick smart.

we feed our dog optimum dry and dog roll, he's as healthy as anything and never had any skin or other problems that sharpei are prone to from wrong diet.
