  1. I'm sorry that happened with your neighbours. Were they aware that you were going to bring some dogs in? Are they just not dog people? Glad to hear the girls are doing well and that you have back up. I hope they get adopted soon, so that you can focus on moving. Our neighbors have been strange lately they stay up all night and stair at me doing laundry. See its getting to be vacation time here and they are old and prob cranky who knows maybe they were afraid because they were greyhounds and they have a small dog. Yes we are looking at property and getting out away from people. We will continue to help and support the dogs any way we can but it wont be much for a bit while we move. Yes we are moving for the dogs, it would be much easier to throw in the towel and quit but we wont we will continue to rescue the dogs (once we move) and make a great place for them despite those that want us to fail
  2. maybe, maybe not, who knows. Wow really? Why dont you keep your little comments to yourself. These dogs will not be PTS
  3. maybe, maybe not, who knows. Do greys that are not good with little dogs usually get adopted? I wouldn't adopt out a greyhound that was not tolerant of little dogs. It is too important to the greyhounds to take the chance. This is going to sound really harsh but, for the greater good, I'd PTS any greyhound that is not ok with little dogs. They don't have to live with one but you must be able to walk your greyhound down the street without it wanting to kill the little dog on the oppoiste side. To me, greyhounds are up against it, though GAP, GSN, etc have done an huge job, plus all the other reputable rescues and their foster carers and the owners of these beautiful dogs. As a greyhound owner, even though not of adopted race dogs, I am always aware that my dogs behaviour is most likely being judged and commented on by the general public while we are out and about. That's very true. Kind of like bull breed owners and rescuers. As one lady who works with bullies said to me a while back "There's too many good bulls breeds that need a home to focus on trying to fix a very DA one. While everyone is trying to fix this dog, there's one with perfect manners on the kill list being ignored." Ina doesnt need to be put down, she very well may be good with small dogs we dont know these people are making assumptions when they havent even seen the dog.
  4. Oh, right. We've also taken on dogs from other Rescues when they've felt they weren't properly equipped so I don't see a huge issue with that either. Whatever's best for the dog. Ah but Plan B the drama queens just suck this up and I hate to think that people with so little compassion are working with rescues
  5. Lord have mercy can you guys please please just stop with your hearsay. We have had an emergency and it is dealt with. We did talk to a ranger as a matter of fact one came to the house to talk with us. The neighbors are idiots and threw up a big stink shit happens right? Both dogs are safe. Ina is going to a greyhound rescue that I had networked with and she is happy to take her. Ina is desexed and on medication which this rescue knows about. Ina is not good with cats and hasnt been tested with small dogs the rescue knows this. So tell me the problem with letting another rescue help you when you get into trouble. I am glad that you guys are so entertained at our stress. We had a bad situation happen but between the tears, frustration and stress we made sure that the dogs came first and are ok. Those that want to down us because of something that happened fine go for it I hope it makes you feel good about yourself and you can run around pounding your chests that you are the best thing since sliced bread good for you. The dogs are very important to use that is why Ina is going to another rescue that I can trust to do the right thing by her. I hope nothing ever happens to those that are being so nasty and you ever need help because who knows maybe you will then be kicked around on the net. Lucky is fine and the vet thinks she has been desexed due to the stitches she has. I guess the next step is for you guys to run around and talk crap about us go for it we dont care. We wont stop helping the dogs because the drama queens want to start trouble. We are moving soon and will resume our rescue. Why dont you guys grow up and get off our facebook page because your only there to spy like little children then go tattle on us for anything we do to DOL
  6. Lucky hasnt been moved on she is in a foster home for now. Lucky is fine and doing well actually not that you guys really care about Lucky or Ina or any dog you just get a kick out of our misery you guys are too much.
  7. Which is probably a much better solution to getting a wider exposure. And if the information and photographs are already on the particular pound's website/FB, why reinvent the wheel, as it were. yup thats what I figured and its updated already and kept up to date.
  8. The greyhound that just stands and stares at a cat in the house and never even flicks an ear when you speak to it is not cat friendly at all. If you can break the gaze with minimum effort then the greyhound can be worked with. But yes they will lunge at the cat, especially if it moves. The unbreakable fixed gaze is my biggest clue to how they will go with a cat. Sometimes the lunging and yipping is mostly excitement and can also be worked with - if you know what you are doing. We have one that is so fixated on cats we didnt even try it with cats, we can tell she wont go well. Lucky was a bit different didnt care about the cat when she saw it and if she saw it through the door we would tell her lucky no come here and she would. We tried her with the cat and it was a no go. So we wont place her with cats either but like you said you can usually tell when its not even worth trying with the cat.
  9. Oh I know that section but I was talking about posting them on other forums and facebook and such. Its ok I will just post the facebook links.
  10. Oh nevermind lol Ill just share the pounds facebook pages and then they can follow there
  11. I use to do trials with my JRT and he had to go under ground follow a series of tunnels and find the rat which was in a cage and asleep most the time That was pretty fun and then we had the JRT races so fun
  12. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
  13. This can be scary because they have a lot of supporters and prob most of them have no clue about working livestock so they may support it because they dont know better
  14. I havent read all the replies but I must say I am shocked at this. I am even shocked at having to wear muzzles. I ran a free range cattle farm and there is no way the bulls out there would respond to a muzzled dog my dog would have gotten killed had I had to muzzle him. Does the RSPCA realize that sometimes the cows turn on the dog then who gets hurt? I ran with BCs but I would use a hard mouthed dog and I am not sure many would but could be wrong. I have a great photo of my dog working where if he had been muzzled he would have gotten killed. The bull turned on him and a little nip on the nose that bull turned right back around.
  15. I have never hunted with sighthounds but when building some website for some hunters with beagles and Curs they told me they put a tracking collar on them to find them if they dont come back
  16. Did you end up taking her to the vet Greylvr? Nope gotta call monday to set an appointment.
  17. Oh she is doing wonderful, she went for a nice walk today and she walks so well on lead stays right near you and loves to look around. No cats for her but she loves the kids, the one year old gives her hugs and she is so very careful not to knock the one year old down. She really is a gem who ever takes her is going to be so lucky. She has decided that my 12 year old son is her friend she follows him around and loves to lay with him while he plays video games. ETA she loves walking on the beach and letting the water run over her feet
  18. Thats a really good food too Would you believe that I use to pay $21 for 40 pounds (18.18kgs) when I was in the US.
  19. Oh good names everyone hard choice maybe we should have a poll and let DOL name her lol
  20. Oh adorable! I want more pics look at that squishy face so cute
  21. Well actually I found him here http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.422947984444008.97979.369136299825177&type=3
  22. Gonna have to take Lucky into the vet looks like she has ear mites poor girl.
  23. I looked after a Grey for a while and sought advice from a Grey person on here about my cats. If I am wrong hopefully a Grey person will correct me, I would be interested to hear it. She said things to watch out for were not the things I would normally watch for with prey drive. The Grey I had would freeze, her ear would flicker and her mouth would quiver. I decided never to trust her as it just wasnt worth it for minding a dog short term, but found it interesting that they seem to show different signs other than lunging and barking and general over excited behaviour. I've heard that as well. We have a client that brings his racing greys into the vet and we have a cage of kittens for adoption out the front. They all do they same thing, frozen in focus and quivering lips, poised for the chase almost. He has a couple that will whine but won't move unless the kitten does. They act like a wound up spring almost. Our vet has a cage of kitties in front too. Ena was very focused on them but Lucky could care less lol
