I also requested videos Sure thing. This is Gabe, he does agility Agility Bulldog Also an agility Bulldog My link And another one (this dog has a heap of titles) My link You can't paint and entire breed by a few bad examples. I know some Bulldogs down here who are quiet energetic. They have no issues keeping up with my Samoyeds in the generals ring. But wouldnt it be great if those examples were the norm? Wouldn't it be great if someone can come to a forum and say my dog cant walk very far without being in distress and have the normal response be thats not typical instead of it being typical? To me they are normal. As I pointed out, the Bulldogs I'm use to seeing can move very happily. What Bulldog person came on here saying their dog couldn't move? I've seen people who don't own Bulldogs making comments about a breed they don't own. I'm not saying that the whole breed is fine but I am saying that seeing one or two bad examples isn't a good enough reason to blanket an entire breed as unhealthy. Well thats true but its been every bull dog I have seen and I love them they are awesome temperament wise and I hope that maybe the bad breeders will get run out of the breeding business and let the professionals do it. And every Bulldog you met was a pedigree was it? How many dogs are we talking about here? I hope bad breeders vanish too. It would be wonderful. yes they were pedigreed prob talking maybe 100+ in the 10 years in my vet tech days. I love the breed and am not knocking or trying to good bulldog breeders

I have to agree that I am not a bb supporter. I recently had a AB stay with me for a few days, she was built a lot like a bb and it was 27 and she was stressed. I kept thinking she was going to die. She just laid on the cold tiles all day. Breeding a dog like that, with those health problems... definitely not my idea of positive evolution of dog breeding. I'm not a huge fan of the brachy dogs though. An AB. Do you mean and Australasian Bandogge? They are a crossbreed. Nothing to do with a British Bulldog in my opinion. And nothing to do with positive evolution of dog breeding. I thought she meant American Bulldog some of those are being bred horribly and thats another breed that will be in trouble without good breeders to turn too.

We had one and that poor guy couldnt go for a proper walk, and when it got hot had a very hard time. Thats when I decided that it was not right, no living thing should have to live like that because we think they are cute. I will never own another unless they can un do what has been done to them. Thats just my opinion though and I am sure some people love them just the way they are. Pray tell me G, In your opinion what is it that has been "done to them" that you would like undone. You had one Bulldog that in your opinion could not walk and could not breathe in hot weather. So does that make all Bulldogs unable to walk and breathe in hot weather? In regards to the breeder, what did they do about the problem? Is that breeder still breeding? The breeder did nothing and I assume still breeds. What I am talking about is the more compact faces, the legs being more turned out things like that. I am a vet tech we see what problems the breed has all the time. Its lots of breeds I know and there are lots of good breeders out there but honestly if you could reverse the issues with a magic wand would you not want too?

The requirements to adopt: - Retired - Living in SA - No dogs, or council approval for currently owned dogs PLUS the two to be adopted do you have to live in SA? is the rescue refunding the adoption fee? Must live in SA. No interstate adoptions. The rescue will reimburse the $400 adoption fee for the pair. Ill talk to some people see if i can get someone to help

Not sure if you guys have seen it but I thought this was great skip to about 14:38 and see the love. I am glad they got picked
-
No they would rather us all let the dogs loose to live in the wild like they were intended to
-
We are also shopping around because our vet is $85 for the vaccine and $365 for a spay on large dogs which I was told is a lot higher than some of the vets that are not that far away from us. I havent vaccinated yearly in about 10 years or so I dont vaccinate my children anymore either thats a whole other subject though

yes and yes it was a registered bull dog from show parents I know it happens but just really opened my eyes up to the breed and I still think they are very cute :) and I know there are good breeders out there looking to improve them but without drastic changes in looks I dont see it possible and if you did those changes would they still win in the show ring and if they cant would the good breeders still push forward? Tricky situation

Can you post a link to your site? I have a fe friends may be interested in a kitten -
That is what I consider to be a great breeder, one that does it all and her dogs are speaking for themselves.
-
Nah its not about trashing the breeders that breed dogs for the show ring. Its about not agreeing with people who breed working dogs with no testing, we pick breeds to show so why not make sure they are healthy with health testing and sound minded with temp testing and make sure they actually can perform their jobs. If we want to breed companion dogs then breed a breed that was made for companionship. We cant expect a breed to stay healthy and of sound mind if we dont take into consideration if they can do what they are intended to so. I know a lot of breeds this isn't possible because they were bred for illegal purposes and we obviously wont want to test them but there are other sports they can partake in to test determination etc. Of course I am one that doesn't think a dog should be bred until all health tests are cleared, and at least a working title put on them. I know a lot of people think that just winning in the show ring is enough that is their choice I just dont agree with it. I will refrain from using the term again sorry.

I plan on one day going to Scotland and watching shepherds work their dogs over there. That will be awesome for you.

A barbie collie is a BC that is bred for the show ring only, no herding testing done on them, no proof that they can work bred for looks only.
-
I think we are talking about the extra long extra fluffy coat we can also mention the heavier bone, and larger heads which make a bigger target. I will stand by my statement that Barbie collies would be in trouble actually working in the outdoors and not in places where the lawn is cut nice etc.
-
Your right a lot of people prefer to not deal with the coats and working BCs dont get the same coat as barbie collies. I would never have dreamed of using a long coated BC while I was working on the cattle farm much too much to deal with and a barbie collie wouldnt be able to work the same way, wet hair can get heavy if your dog needs to run through mud or any type of water its going to get heavy with the barbie collies coats. I have yet to meet anyone who works a barbie collie in any fashion other than trials on nice fluffy grass. Some breeds its fads, I have had a dog pulled out by a judge and point out what a beautiful representation of the breed my dog was absolutely perfect in every way. She then placed her 3rd after a 90 pound dog when the breed standard reads that the preferred weight was a lot less than 90 pounds my girl was 37 pounds

The dog isn't in your care? It's owned by someone else, and currently in a different persons house. You have no ties to the dog legally. Yes. Why do you keep saying the dog is in your care when you have told us the dog is with someone 5 minutes away from you?! The dog is staying in a foster home which we pay for everything for it why can't you guys get it through your heads . Anyway I will leave you to wallow in your shit storm and have fun doesn't mean anything all the rescues I have talked to have said the same thing and don't even come here and these are some great rescues So have fun with your drama and crap talking. We will continue to do our thing which is saving dogs and getting our paperwork together and going forward. Stalk the Facebook if you want to see the wonderful things we achieve the more likes we get the better so thanks for your help in liking our page and spreading the word of our group. Have a great Christmas.
