I have always had two dogs so I haven't noticed any more work.... they both have different needs , one is quite young and needs lots of play and attention where as the other one is quite happy to be by herself but will occasionally want to play and our time is our nightly walk :)

A Follow On Thread For Those Who Now Have Their Puppy
Daisys Mum replied to julesluvscavs's topic in Puppy Chat
I got my Kelpie a harness from K9Pro and it's a really good fit ... being a Kelpie she doesn't have a lot of hair underneath but it doesn't rub or anything. It's a DT one but they have several types to choose from. -
I have never looked at packaging either.. I normally just play it by ear so to speak , I adjust it accordingly to how she is looking .

Me too

Oooh thanks for the code kelpie cuddles! I couldn't help myself and signed up for the 6 monthly ... will see how it looks when it arrives :)

When my housemate had his Husky, she suffered from dry eye and Tony Read saw her from time to time ... he is lovely :)

Hi all :) There has been topics about it before but I can't find it anyway I am looking at getting the liquid that you add to their drinking water .... Lacey my Cav had a dental today and over $500 later I need to find a way to keep them clean. She has a under bite which no amount of bones will fix the problem , so I have Googled to see what there is out there .... are they pretty much a muchness or is there a particular one I need to get? and are they really effective or am I just wasting my money? I have tried a toothbrush but she hates it she had an extraction too so I don't want to start poking things in her teeth atm. Thanks :)

Yes it's not good ... they grade them 1-4 , 4 being the worst :/ because she is still young the sooner it's done the sooner she can get back normal :) well we can hope anyway.

I have only just seen this reading through I thought Patella then read that it is Lacey has just been diagnosed with a Grade 4 , off to the Specialist tomorrow ....... she doesn't even have a groove where the knee joint sits so its a matter of when and how. Give Bon a cuddle for me :) poor girl.

Hi :) Bit of background ... Lacey was diagnosed with a grade 4 luxating patella , went to see the vet who does all the surgery at my vet clinic and he strongly recommended me go and see Dr Andrew Dunn at the Adelaide Veterinary Specialiast Centre, I have made an appointment to see him tomorrow. Has anyone been to see Andrew? I hear he is very good and one of the top Specialists in Adelaide.... I guess I am just wanting assurance that he is good and knows what he is doing, I also hope that he can fix Lacey because she isn't quite 3 yet

I just bought a Cavalier and a Kelpie one from the link Alkhe posted they are beautiful :). I haven't got one of my two current dogs, now I just have to get a couple of nice frames.
-
OMG I think that is the most beautiful sight I have ever seen they are exquisite :)

When I first bought my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel home at 8 weeks I made a game of walking in and out of the sliding door and saying " wees?" , I made the outdoors a fun place to be, not just a place for her to do her business , also I would pop her outside every 30 minutes regardless of whether she had eaten or had a drink :) It's easier for me though because I work nightshift and there is always someone home during the day to let her out... I had her housetrained by 12 weeks of age. It takes a lot of patience , he is still a puppy :) Edited to add: he is gorgeous and looks a little cheeky :D

Dog Welcomes After Long Absences?
Daisys Mum replied to samoyedman's topic in General Dog Discussion
Dogs have no sense of time .... I can be away for an hour and I am greeted like I have been away for months. I recently went away for 4 days and my dogs went absolutely nuts, and wouldn't let me out of their sight  -
My CKCS is having surgery in the next few weeks on her left Patella and I have been trying to prepare things to make sure she doesn't end up doing things she shouldn't ... the car is a great idea! I will definitely do that one . Lacey is still young at almost 3 so she is quite active so it's going to be different for her.. she is food and toy orientated so it should be ok. Was just wondering though if I should get a pen set up in the lounge for her? with her being active she is going to hate it but if I set it up like her own little den it should be ok I hope. Sorry LP for hijacking

*hugs* pers ... what a beautiful cat Bernie was :) sorry to hear of your loss
-
When you said he misses/skips putting his rear foot to the ground it rang bells for me because that's exactly what Lacey did when she started showing the same symptoms... Hers is a Luxating Patella I hope for Brunos sake that isnt the same for him, poor boy.
