  1. Staffylove you can see a couple of photo's of the lovely Lucinda here as well. http://www.comcen.net.au/~birichino/Visiting%20Helen.htm scroll down the page to Helen's dogs Cheers Linda
  2. I second dogbessotteds suggestionof the vasiline and permoxin mix on the wounds as it does work well and it does not harm the dogs. I personally ALSO have a fly trap that keeps the numbers of flys down to the odd fly. With dogs and horses we have a real problem in this area with flys but at home there just arn't any these days. Fly traps are the best long term solution!!!! Cheers Linda
  3. Hi Erny, So you have around a month to wait for this test? How is Kal doing? Is she uncomfortable or just a bit off? Changeing her diet is not the greatest idea in reality before tests as it is possible they can test for coielac as well. Believe it or not I have actually seen 'gluten free' dog food (not often or reciently). Now if that can be done you can really interfeer with the test results if you change her feed. I don't know about the adrenal gland being affected by diet however. Oh rice is just rice as far as clagging rice is concerned. Yeah over cooked rice is a bit gluggy and there are types called glutons rice that are also just rice but refers to the cooked consistancy. One of the things that coielac causes is a degree of mal nutrition that may be better some weeks than others. Depraved appitite is common in some people as well. Chers Linda
  4. Hi Erny, The correct spelling is 'Coeliac' (i spent a while last night looking for the mag) and it is diet control only. It can be assioated with other things as well but does respond very well to diet controll. Now mussel wasteage and vomiting can be a big part of it but this depends on the individual, my biggest problem these days if 'I fall off the wagon' is stomack pain, the runs or constipation (again depends). In short is is an alardgy to gulten so any grains aside from rice and corn is going to make you feel bad. Cheers Linda
  5. Hi Erny, I have just read your thread and man you must be quite beside yourself by now. Poor Kal seems to be very good about all these tests and such like. Now I feel prompted to add a reply as I have Ceiolac (now that is not how to spell it but will have to do for now). This is simply put 'gluten intollarant' and the more I read the more I felt Kal sounds a lot like me. I had my first 'bout' after my first child was born, the major symptoms being weight loss and just plain tired. I to was fobbed off after much testing and told to buy smaller clothes and be happy as most people get fat after childberth. Things kinda got better untill my second child was born and the weight loss by this time was alarming as I was 1 stone under my ideal 'prechildren' weight. I was sent to a dietitishion (ya know them that look like greyhounds and live on green leaves). Not only was she no help she made things worse. Thu all this the olny things I recall was weight loss and being tired all the time. It was some years later when my mother fell extreamly ill while traveling in Italy that things started to become clear. She was VERY ill by the time they got home and dad did think she was going to die. Anyway she found after many dead end tests that ceoliac is what she had. This led me to have a blood test (these days they have a stool test that is very effective fr people at least) and yes I have it. Explained all the things that were fobed off years ago as I was a young mother with 2 kids in as many years with no help or support other than my husband. Just a new idea for you to worry about Cheers Linda
  6. I love the before and after photo's I do wish I could have done some thing like that but with my woolie guys it just don't show up the way the bulldog does :D I did get the calipirs (sp?) out and measure them tho, do you think I can find the diary now? Any way he has a whole new implant as of this morning so things may 'shrink' again soon. As I recall tho it did take a bit longer than 7 weeks for them to shrink to the point they did. Cheers Linda
  7. Hi Erny, I was VERY supprised that the implant 'seems' to have lasted for 12 months. Now so far I base this on behaviour and the sheer fact that his testies shrank so much in the first 6 weeks and have not yet returned to normal. In the last couple of weeks they have 'grown' a bit and this has prompted me to order a new implant. As far as the longjevity of the implant goes? I am not to sure as the lass on the phone did tell me 'at least' 6 months. Now Maremma have a very slow metabolisim and that may have some thing to do with it? If I was at all concerned about his level of fertility at this point I would have it tested. So far I have not had to bother with that tho. I spose I am saying that in short I have seen no side effects and have been happy with my choice. Cheers Linda
  8. Ok dogbessotted I will put in my 2cents worth. Yes I have a dog who has had a superlorin implant for 12 months now. It did shrink his testis to about 1/3rd of the normal size of them and it did take a very slight edge of his reactions to rude behaviour by other dogs and people. It did not change him noticably at all in a phyiscal way (apart from the shrinking of the testis). It certianly seems to have lasted the full 12 months. Now as for normal dog stuff like marking on walks and such like it had no effect at all, but then all the males I have who have been surgicaly sterilised mark as much as any entire dogs I have had. Would I use it again? YES as soon as this waers off he will get another implant as I do not want to breed him and he did not recover at all well from the hip scoreing. Cheers Linda
  9. Oh boy what great photo's of Cindy's dogs. They sure are superb and they sure do look like they were having a ball instecting Flames Daddy <g>. Flame is quite stunning as is Ben. Oh and just how is the training going with Cindy (the lab)? 10. Just thought I should add my thoughts. FANTASTIC night all round. It was really nice to catch up with Brooke and Ben as well as meet a lot of new people. Steve is brilliant with both people and dogs. His explinations are clear and concice as well as making a lot of sense. Winterpaws THANKYOU so very much for a really enjoyable meal as well as the hospitality. Your dogs are just stunning, a real credit to you. Cheers Linda
  11. Hi Safadao, It might pay you to sit with your pup a morning or 2 and see if you can hear what is upsetting him? I have found that if I go listen outside I can often pick up whatever is annoying my boys and then tell them it is ok or help them get rid of the foe. 14. Hi Everyone, I made a number of attempts to put money in the bank for Steve without success the other day. Can I pay on the night or should I send a cheque to Steve? I would HATE to miss out due to this. Cheers Linda Bagnall Wyee NSW Aust http://www.comcen.com.au/~birichino/ (it's a start) Ever get the feeling That your stuff strutted of Without you?
  15. I'd like to second all of gandalf's questions. I to have been wondering about these things. Cheers Linda
  16. I can offer a very timid 6 or 7 year old dog as well if you want the challange of a maremma sheepdog. Boy I am looking forward to this night (assuming I get in). Cheers Linda
  17. It may also pay you to go and look at where Molly spends her time outside as this could also be a contact alergy to plants. If you are not sure about them a trip to your local nursery with bits of the plants should help identify the plants she likes to lay on.
