  1. Oh I win?? Gee do I get a prize I could do with a prize. Eggs or a milking cow (with a milk maid) would be wonderful. I have a bakers dozen now. The Bat sat on boy number 4 on day 4 and he didn't stand up to well to being sat on by his Mum. CONGRATULATIONS on your litter and I hope they are doing as well as this white wave I have here. The rest of the little dears are now between 1.5 kilos and 2.2 kilo's (at 17 days) so I think it may be fair to say they are doing OK and if my fingers tell the truth the Bat is actually gaining some weight, is well over having her butt washed and has gone back to work part time. LizT, I have no idea if it is *normal* for maremma to have such large litters but I am not fond of the idea of another litter if it is the case
  2. http://www.ustream.tv/channel/bat-baby-s Not sure if any one will be interested but the Bat's baby's can actually be seen here live on line. Cheers Linda
  3. One of my boys is a Maramacdonald lad too - I dont think mine has ever been that clean though he lives with the sheep. You must have been writing this as I was doing the last reply . Trust me Astor is not often as clean as he was at the royal and the camera was VERY kind to him, he lives with cows and chooks!!! Cheers Linda
  4. At the very least they share his enthuisasim and did not get lost on the way.. Cheers Linda
  5. Ok here are a couple of photo's of the sire Ch Maremacdonald Astor. It was a natural mating and it was ONE read it ONE tie. The vet wanted to know why I had mated her to often but it really was 1 tie only. I don't think it's a *normal* size litter and if it is then a great many do not make it. I am not to bad with the idea so far but once they get to running about it gunna be fun <g>. Cheers Linda
  6. Good morning all, now if I miss a comment put it down to brain fade rather than me not reading and noting the comment. Sadly we lost the red boy last as his mum squashed him flat in the middle of the bed. I am going to ask why there are not enough boxes but I have a feeling it's due to not really being needed to often. Oh Steve we are both gunna be over run with poopies soon. I am kinda dreading them getting mobile, that *great white wave of death and distruction* kinda takes on a whole new meaning. so here is the photo for the day. taken at 3am . Cheers Linda
  7. Hi Jed, I have not has any thing to say here yet, but know that not a day goes by that I do not think of you and wish you a fast recovery. I can not begin to imagine how you must feel. Going back to your home must have been so hard. I do hope things keep going up and better for you. Kind thoughts and wishes Linda
  8. Thanks guys, they are all still doing brilliantly, growing like weeds they are. hey Deb you better warn Aurea about the benifits of contrecption. Womby sure didn't attend that lecture and look what happened. Can you imagine the bedlam that is going to go on here when they get to 2 weeks+. I am seriously looking at the size of her bed and thinking she may well need another double mattress to provide room for all the little dears. I have to phone Dogs NSW monday as well (it's not monday today is it?) to find out what on earth to do with registering them. There are not enough boxes on the form. Cheers Linda
  9. Some mothers do have em Yup and it's a great pitty they don't KEEP em!!!
  10. and here they are all lined up nice and neat. any one would think they were posed but they orginised it all by themselves. I am suffering ;) ;) in about that order Cheers Linda
  11. Hi All, I am astonished amazed in awe of my girl and down right scared to death of the next couple of months. At 2am wednesday morning the Bat gave bitrh to her first daughter. At 4.35pm she whelped her last son. They weighed between 530 grams and 670 grams at whelping and not one of them even looks a little slow. Has anyone here had any experiance with this kind a numbers? Cheers Linda (ps) Photo's may have to wait until I can figer out how to resize them, my new puter is not playing nice with the program of choice and I am having trouble understanding the one on the machine
  12. Anywhere they please is the answer here. The back door has a heavy curtian to keep the heat in and the dogs come and go as they see fit. I have not had a dog sleep with us since we lost the old Borzoi but there is generally a Maremma in the doorway all night, not the same dog all night tho as they swap about. Linda
  13. I had a very beautiful female borzoi who was a nice clear white. I also have a few Maremma here and over the years the stand out questions have been odd to say the least. One old bloke stopped me mowing to ask what the white dog was? (they are all white <g>) So I asked just which particular dog he was looking at and the answer was, 'I know what the Afghan is'. At this point I spun around to find out IF I did have an Afghan? Nup Just Rell. There was a food delivery bloke one night who hauled me over the coals for clipping the Afghan. Didn't seem to matter what I said he was 'certain' Rell was an Afghan. Then there was the 'nice lady' up the street who got annoyed that I would not allow her to use my nice male Golden Retriever at stud. Not only have I NEVER owned a Golden but the dog (maremma) she was wanting to use was desexed and she would not believe that either.................... Cheers Linda
  14. Dear Pure breed, I am so so saddened to read this. As a new breeder myself I can tell you that it was a great pleasure to 'share' the pups growing up with the people that would 'own' them when they were ready to leave here. I am very grateful that most have kept some contact with me and I can 'see' how they developed. I am sure that your breeder is only interested in knowing that the pup is doing well and you are happy with it. Would it hurt you a great deal to send a short note to tell the breeder? Sadly Linda
  15. Hi Kittyhawklee, Congratulations on your new pup. Fleas are a bit of a pain for you both and the season is just starting now. At 8 weeks I would just use Frontline spray on the pup being careful not to get it near his/her eyes. Do you have any photo's to share? Cheers Linda
  16. Boy you have it easy really. I have a 14 mo pup here just now who is just divine BUT she has eaten 3 remotes a number of shoes, goodness knows how much paper (both important and waste). She believes the rubbish bin is simply a toy box just for her and takes what she wants. All that said we do not yell at her as we have ALLOWED this by not having things we wish to keep where she can not reach them. All that said we had a visitor for a week in the form of Bell, a black lab pup a bit older than Freya and she to has a reputation for 'renovation' and distruction. Nothing was hurt that week as they played hard all week with each other. Freya was already fit and Bell sure got that way, she turned 'weight' into muscle and actually lost a bit of size if not actual weight in spite of the fact that here the dogs have food available whenever they want it, ie; free fed. Just restrict the room your teeny baby can access when you are not home and make sure there is a lot of play time when you are. A tired puppy is a good puppy as a rule. Most of all ENJOY the short time he is a baby!!! Good luck Cheers Linda Wyee NSW Aust http://www.comcen.com.au/~birichino/ (it's a start) Ever get the feeling That your stuff strutted of Without you?
  17. When you have a new lead soak it in detol, hang it out to dry and then just use it. Ignor the dog and it will teach it's self not to chew the lead <g>. Works well on foals as well. Cheers Linda
  18. Good on you for looking for a solution. The biggest problem with guinea pigs is they are a food and they make the most wonderfuly inviting squeeky sounds (not at all unlike dog toys). The electric fence could be a great solution. You can get what they call electronet with is hot tape made to look like wire fencing. This stuff is fantastic as you have a much greater chance of the dog being 'taught' by the fence than with strip tape. I have just used it to great effect in keeping the new pup next door OUT of my place. Cheers Linda
  19. So how do you use this, how often and can you use it after a bath? Where do you spray it, wht happens if the dog tastes it? I am really considering this. My husband just found a flea on Stella and they are both really scratchy. You can use the spray every day if you want to or need to while you have a problem. I spray it on the dog and on all floors and beding in particular. I have not noticed any effects on the dog from chewing . Advantage is also fantastic for fleas on the dog. I however could not get advatage just before xmas so bought frontline (under duress as it was all I could get) and I swear it ATTRACTS ticks. We get a few here and there but boy within 12 hours Reaper had 5 BIG ticks, Freya (the pup) had 4 BIG ticks, Chino had 2 and even Ted had 2. Cheers Linda
  20. Not only does Permoxin last for ages but you can mix it and keep it for days this way. I have had moments when I have sprayed all the dogs each day with it to great effect. Yesterday I also sprayed the whole house with a stronger mix. It can be purchased at some pet shops as well as the vets and produce shops. The produce places will generally be the cheapest place to get it. Cheers Linda
  21. Get a large bottle of permoxin and one of those spray bottles that you can pump up to create pressure. Then spray any surface the dog is in contact with. Oh spray the dog as well, OFTEN. I have been known to spray grass, dirt, carpet, wood floors and even the walls with this. It does work well for fleas and will have the added side benifit of killing spiders, roaches flys and such like as well. Good Luck Linda
  22. What a great thing to read. I am so proud of both you and Ellie!!!!!! Go Rachelle!!! I look forward to the next 'milestone'. Also a special thank you to Steve for the hard work he has done as well!!!!! Cheers Linda
  23. Here is Ingrid playing in 1 of our water tubs. Never been tipped over yet this kind. Cheers Linda
