It has come to pass after a great deal of looking and talking to people in charge of formulating the rules, that it was indeed a big missunderstanding based on missinformation. The emergancy requirement had nothing at all to do with after sales service at all. THANK YOU ALL for your thoughts

aside from all the mistakes in the spelling It was pointed out to me that the law in Vic is telling breeders that they must offer an emergancy guarantee and I am at a loss as to what could possibly be the actual requierment? Paste**** Proprietor responsibilities Proprietors, or owners, of domestic animal businesses must provide for the well being of all the animals kept at their business. They are responsible for supervision of staff, collation of records, the supervision of appropriate feeding and watering programs, maintaining a high level of hygiene at their premises and ensuring that veterinary care is available for the animals kept at their premises. Proprietors of domestic animal businesses can only offer animals for sale that have been through an appropriate vaccination program prior to sale and must, at the point of sale or giving away, ensure the animal is implanted with a microchip (in the case of animal shelters and Council pounds, dogs and cats must also be desexed prior to sale). The proprietor of a domestic animal business must notify the Council in which the animal is to be kept of the name, address and microchip number of the animal sold from or given away from their premises. In the case of pound/shelters, pet shops and breeding establishments, proprietors must provide literature to a person who purchases animals from them; this literature must include information on responsible pet ownership, appropriate housing and feeding. The proprietor must also provide a guarantee to the purchaser stating that if the animal is unacceptable for any reason that the animal can be returned within three days for a 75% refund of the purchase price or an offer of an animal of equal value with the same guarantee. Also within seven days, the proprietor must provide a similar guarantee on health grounds if supported by documentation from a veterinarian that the animal is sick after purchase. If the animal dies or is euthanased due to a disease traceable to point of sale, the proprietor must refund the full purchase price or offer a replacement animal with the same guarantee. I have used Animial Travel to send pups to the USA and Hawaii. They have also brought a couple of adult dogs to Australia for me from Italy. I would recomend them in a heartbeat.

I live in a block of Public Housing units, fortunately we are allowed to have dogs/cats. Once it wasn't allowed, but they have realised that older people need pets for their well being. Unfortunately, private rentals are getting more & more anti dogs. when i was a landlord i was NEVER anti dog (or any animial) but i learnt to be VERY anti children. (yes i have my flame suit on). the tenants with pets were wonderful. the tenant with the teenagres was a true EXPENCIVE nightmare of an experiance.

Wow so many breeds I've never even considered! What are they like to live with? I guess they drool quite a bit? Big thing with the long breeds is I'd be worried about them hurting their backs somehow, does it happen often? I think you should look at a Borzoi, FANTASTIC dogs !!!!

My biggest concern was the fact that the heater may get wet or the cord chewed. I have a water proof matttress cover and 2 super dooper mattress covers that are 100% water proof and also really comfortable as they are made for people. The heater goes under the mattress and it works well as only one side is heated and the thermostat keeps things at a reasonable temp. I love that heater and I am sure that they can still be bought as it is still possible to get water beds. They may not be the cheapest option but I have 2 heaters so I use them.

My girls have a double bed that they whelp on and I put a water bed heater under it to keep the temps warm in winter as well as keeping the area insulated with towels or blankets. I get a small 3 bar heater to keep my toes warm :))

No prog testing was done and they were seperated (the third girl as they live here together) for ease of managment only. The first bitch was not ready so he *lived* with her for 3 days. Day 3 we were going home and as luck would have it she allowed him to join her while she was being put back in the kennels as we had to go home. It is possible that they had a joining over night but I don't think so some how.

Interesting question this. I have a young dog here that could be thought of as our stud dog. He has been bred with 3 bitches and sired 3 litters of 8, 10 and 10. He managed all by himself with all 3 girls and the first and last were *paddock served*. The second girl was kept on lead but no one helped the dog. The first and second girls had 1 tie and the third had 2 ties (cos I felt sorry for them).

I agree that is very upsetting, but pickup is solely the responsibility of AQIS. I hope you wrote a letter to the Minister about it. I wrote letters to not only the minister but also to AQUIS as well. I was APPALED that AQUIS can treat our precious animials like this. I pointed out to them that if hey are not going to give us the chance to make our own arrangments to collect the dog in an expiedient fashion then they should do so and not just leave it to sit in, heaven knows what condition, until they are good and ready. I also pointed out that my dog should have seen a vet THAT day and I was NOT at all impressed with them. They let EI into the general population (and want us to pay for it) and they have not learn't much from that experiance as there are no foot baths to paddle thu and only once were we asked to wash our hands.

Err, what possible role would Customs play here? It was an export, and even with imports they don't unnecessarily delay animal cargo clearance for this sort of reason. MASKargo has airconditioned premises in KL where a lot of the dogs transit. Don't know why they don't in Sydney. Customs may not play a big role in exports from here but the airlines do require the dogs to be lodged way early and I am not sure about the care levels at he airport. Imports however are AT THE MERCY of the wretched CUSTOMS and AQUIS staff who have NO INTENTION of putting themselves out for an animial. I brought in a dog and he was held over half way due to a problem with the plain. So this poor dog arrives in Sydney at 6am. He is left in the shed ALL DAY in his crate as the staff only pick up once a day and that is really late afternoon. By this time the poor thing has been in transit for 3 days and I do not believe that AQUIS lived up to their duty of care at all. If he had been in that shed in summer he to could have been a victim of the system.

I saw few articles citing the health as you've mentioned. this would be a male. that would mean a potential ligament problem.. small breeds no it's a small xbred female. some sort of kelpie mix by the look of her.

Not some thing I agree with at all. I know people do desex at 8 to 10 weeks, especially the rspca. I tend to think the pup needs all it's bits inside to make sure it matures well. My daughter got an underpriviladeged pup from the rspca a few years ago and it has had continance problems, and ligament problems all it's life. Cost her a fortune in vet fee's. The PMA I gave her has cost her very very little in it's life. That may change but I will leave my pups until they are at least 8 months,

You know this is not how things work. It's not? Gee it's the way I learn stuff. If I make a mistake I do TRY to learn from it and not make that particular mistake again. I must be missing some thing in my uneducated state.

Not at all prejudicial. You bought a bitch and then a dog in good faith. You found that they will produce depigmented pups. You kept breeding knowing that some are going to be depigmented. Your choice, but not nessarly what either breeder you purchased a pup from would do?

So you have not made any mistakes or had any learning curves that were not always what you expected or hoped? no i do not believe he treats the dogs like chattels at all. They are trusted and much needed working dogs, they protect his livelyhood. What on earth is wrong with that? i have a few puppy buyers who say things like this as well. I also have puppy buyers who tell me how much the dog has saved them in money time and sheer emotional stress just by doing what they are bred to do. Thats what I like to know. i did n ot believe for a moment that you would like him. shame that you are not listening to the SCIENCE in his presentation and in the presentation by Lee Allen from Biosecurity Queensland. Lots of science behind them both actually. Umm, do you know how to quote? lol. But thanks for the video, despite how people are trying cast aspersions on me I am not a complete dullard, and I think people know that which is why I get the pointy end so often. Actually NO I have no clue how to quote, and little interest in learning to be honest. not big on my *must be able to do* list.
