  1. Lynlovesdogs, there is a Lappie picnic being organised for the afternoon of the 10th of July. A venue is still to be finalised. If anyone would like to attend and meet a few dozen Lappies they are more than welcome. Be warned though, Magnus is nearly single handedly responsible for the population explosion of Lappies in NSW over the last 3 years He is the biggest smoocher and won't let you get away without having his belly rubbed. Woofenpup and I were only saying a few weeks ago it was about time we had another Picnic :D I haven't had a Keeshond but I have had a Sammy and I now have 4 Lappies so I could give you a run down on the difference in personalities etc. There really isn't that much of a difference though. It will come down to what size dog you want in the end. Lappies are just black & tan or brown or cream or domino or wild colour or game colour or whatever colour little Sammies. :D
  2. If I pulled every dog that didn't stand as a youngster, I wouldn't have any dogs to show. Even the "perfect showman" Magnus was a right royal little shite to show as a baby. Actually Fran, I prefer them play up a bit as babies, I don't like to see little robots in the ring and the ones that don't stand and cause you grief are usually the ones that have that "WOW" factor when they are older.
  3. I PMSL when I read this SBT I have had a few stuff ups in the years 1) Showing at Taree with my then young siberian and we were doing an out and back in sweepies, well I did the out and back. She got to the end of the out and kept going under the rope (the lead had broken). Once she realised she was off lead there was no stopping her as she froliked away every now and then throwing a smirk in my direction. She was finally caught by some people just pulling up to the show who opened there car door and she jumped in for a ride 2) Have done another wonderful triangle and was pulling up a little bit to close to the judge when the bitch has reared up on her hind legs and grabbed this little old lady judge around the waist and started to hump her. I just stood there like a stunned mullet not knowing what to do for a moment 3) Magnus was making his return to the ring after an injury that I was sure was going to see him become my faithful pet forever more. A girlfriend is videoing and this was the result There are so many more :D
  4. All the babies are looking like puppies now instead of little slugs I have a friend coming over today so I will attempt taking photo's of the "Bian" kids at 4 weeks. They only time they are still is when they are asleep !!
  5. Oh skyhaven, they look so gorgeous as they explore the world

  10. I counted 14, Good luck with the whelping
  11. Deja is such a clever girl. Phone call from the vet was to let me know that we have 3 boys and 3 girls Of course I forgot to ask what colours
  12. Congratulations TB and Sherayle on your new arrivals. Deja went to the vets this morning as she hadn't started to whelp and was 2 days overdue. Tried stimulating but there was no vaginal inertia. Gave a shot of Oxytocin and waited for 45 mins................nothing happened, no bearing down or pup presented so she went in for a C-section. I just rang the vet in the middle of typing this and we have 6 fat little puppies. They haven't checked the sexes yet but mum and bubs all doing well and the pups weren't stressed.
  13. Congratulations Sol and well done Sunny. Deja is still holding out on us Have checked and rechecked the mating date (she only had one mating) and she was definately due yesterday. How long do you think it is safe to let them go over the date?? I am going to take her to the vets tomorrow anyway for a check up and a poke around inside if she hasn't had them. My OH and Deja went for a walk around the block last night (Deja instigated the walk) and when they were out walking she decided to start trotting and then looked back at my OH, so he started a slow jog beside her.........next thing she started to go faster so he did as well. I can't believe that she wanted to have a little run on the day she was due !!! Do you think bitches get sick of being in whelp and want to try and start labour ??? It made OH and I speculate about this for a good hour or more.
  14. Temp was down at 37.3 this morning and there was some lovely clear mucus coming away so I am sure it is not long now. Only problem is she is sleeping on MY bed in the whelping room I'm to soft to move her so i will let her get some rest while she can. Deja still ate dinner tonight but couldn't get all the way through. That is the only time she has ever not finished her bowl.
  15. Congratulations Ish, sorry to hear about the one that didn't make it. Are GSD's normally that dark at birth and lighten with age or will they be dark coloured puppies?
  16. Sounds like things are starting to gear up Sol. Good luck for a successful whelping. Deja hasn't been off her food but wants to lay around all the time. I don't mind as it allows me to watch the football match going on in her tummy.
  17. Normal Deja Just two days to go Going to get an xray today to have an accurate count.
  18. Congrats Jerojath, lovely even spread of there sexes there, Belle is a very clever girl
  19. Whippets, love the colours they are just gorgeous. Skehaven, don't you just love the little squished up noses on them. They all look like happy fat little munchkins. Sol, my girls plug came away about a week ago as well and i thought we were in for an early one too but she has managed to keep them in place. Last night they were very active and playing tumbles in her tummy She wasn't too impressed as all she wants to do is lay around and for some reason she just loves to sleep with her head in a cardboard box
  20. I know I am a little late in joining this thread (to much to do and too little time ) but I have a litter of Siberian Huskies due on the 20th. Will try to get a photo of the expectant mum soon to post. btw BB, had a great time in Canberra with you and still don't know who the sunglasses belong to.
  21. Are you sure the Finnish Lapphunds are being judged by the Canadian because the last time I entered a show they were in group 5.
