  1. You do what ever you think is appropiate. You are the master of your own destiny. Good luck.
  2. You're a purebreed dog owner who values your dog, do you do all those things? Absolutely.
  3. The dogs are from a shelter so they are probably already desexed. If not, do it. Build a secure run & shelter in the backyard. Not only to keep the dogs in but to keep any naughty people out. If it means walking the dogs wearing muzzles & restricted collars?...do it. when ever she is off her property, lock the dogs in the run. She would know her neighbours so she would know how to keep them onside. Do as the pure breed owners who value their dogs do. Keep them safe. It aint rocket science.
  4. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/4459054/.html "Irish" staffordshire bull terrier is the U.K. pseudonym for pitbull. Here they hide them as cross staffies or amstaffs without papers or bull mastif x ridgeback...etc, etc, etc. The pic is of a beautiful pure breed Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Which shows why registered pure breed owners are concerned their breeds all being tarred with the one brush. If people don't understand what ''keep you dog safe'' means? They are beyond help.
  5. Staffordshire Bull Terriers aren't a banned breed in Ireland. The Irish Staffordshire bull Terrier, not to be confused with a SBT bred in Ireland, is banned as a pitbull type by the U.K. As is the Amstaff b.t.w. I am reasonablely sure the SBT is banned in Germany, along with the Bull Terrier & the Bull mastif. The concern for these breeds now is Germany is pushing for a common law for the entire E.U. regarding breed restrictions. If successful (unlikely) it would mean the SBT would be banned all E.U countries. I am a little bemused that a veterinarian could simply declare a dog to be an Amstaff. If push came to shove I doubt such an identification would be upheld by a court of law. Such a challenge would be interesting though. An Amstaff without ANKC registration papers as proof of breed is, for all intents & purposes, a pitbull. In Ireland the SBT must be muzzled and leashed in public. Edit: I think that you are confused about the 'Irish' SBT, there is no mention of it in the Irish dog laws. Is it even a recognised breed anywhere? I understand there are quite a few breeds that have the same restrictions when in public. But they are not banned nor restricted in any other way. Breeding for e.g. The Irish SBT is not a recognised breed, rather it is the ''breed'' name used to masquarde the dogs true ancestory to circumvent the the banned dog laws in the U.K. " No, it's not a pitbull begorra, it's an irish staffy, to be sure, to be sure''.... Do some research & will see it's a fact. It is
  6. I am rather bemused about that. At 40kg, the dog is well outside the standard. "The Publc" seem to think that APBT are really big, but they are not. I don't know how the dog can fill the criteria at that size. Not allowing any photos is worrying too, + if the sire is not restricted breed, how can the dog itself fit the standard, and be declared? I am rather bemused as well. But for a different reason. From the UKC APBT standard Height and Weight The American Pit Bull Terrier must be both powerful and agile so actual weight and height are less important than the correct proportion of weight to height. Desirable weight for a mature male in good condition is between 35 and 60 pounds. Desirable weight for a mature female in good condition is between 30 and 50 pounds. Dogs over these weights are not to be penalized unless they are disproportionately massive or rangy.
  7. On the contrary, I have answered your question on numerous occasions. Keep you dogs safe & there will be no problems. If they do come under the notice of the authorities? They are your reponsibiliy, you would have failed them. It is your problem. As for your avatar, I don't know how many Melbournes there are throughout the country. There may only be one, there may be more? Your avatar said Qld. There is only one Queensland. There is any amount of posters commenting on this topic. It is not restricted only to Victorians. So why would anyone assume every comment is from a Victorian?

  9. Not relevent to the thread? That's a matter of opinion.
  10. Awfully presumptious of you O_o Just the facts m'am, just the facts.
  11. Not really, There are about 150 recognised pure breeds on the ANKC register. So there's plenty of choice. But it certainly wont say it's a pitbull or any mixture of x breeds & that's a fact If your dog has come under the notice of the authorities & been I.D. as a restricted breed? As I said earlier. The dog is your responsibility & therefore it's your problem. Who elses would you consider is to blame for the your dilemma?
  12. Stop feeding tin food first & foremost. To get it off completely, you will first have to let it dry out.
  13. I don't know how many times one has to repeat something before it gets through the ingrained bias rife here. But, again. I agreed with the coroner that owners of the suspected restricted dogs should be liable to for the indentification of the breed & not the councils which declare them.. That, & "bad laws are still laws" are the sum totals of my crimes against the rabid mob mentallity. While you all rail against crimes against the ''innocent'' yet practice exactly the tactics you complain about. Starts with an aitch folks a capitol AITCH. Which is a response to ... I don't what the hell it's the response to but it sure ain't a response to my post. Yeah it was. What I replied was sum total of what I said that somehow managed to get the rabid juices flowing. I have not mentioned any ''laws'' per se, nor have I mentioned pit bulls specifically. Nor do I care who has pitbulls, their crosses or their lookalikes. My ''crime'' against the mob mentality is that, IMO, if owners are called to account the onus should be on the owner to provide indisputable proof of breed. Me?, if i'm called? I have a piece of paper provided by the breeder that says my little guy is registered with the the ANKC as a pure breed. It has a brief description, a M/C number listed that will verify the authenticity of dog it represents & three generations of ancestors, all registered with the ANKC. And I make nom apologise for my choice. Maybe those accusing me of insults would like to show where? What questions haven't I answered? Who are these other persons I am supposed to be? Talk about paranoid central. So far the only good thing to come out of this rubbish is that moosmum will no longer harass me with her lynch mob, look at me everyone I'm on fire, mentality.
  14. Yes it did say Qld. Just another example of being resposible for your own actions when you get right down to it.

  16. If I ever have a pittbull,I'm gonna call it steam roller. If it isn't a secret, just what breed or mixture of breeds, do you have?
  17. There is no risk to ANKC recognised breeds..........it's already been tested when a court ruled the Amstaff was the same breed as a Pitbull and was fixed immediately. Same applies with the Amstaff's very pointed exemption in the Victorian legislation.........they are after Pitbulls and crossbreed of, or anything that may contain Pitbull that the owners can't prove otherwise. Wrong, You need to do more homework. Firstly, the court didn't rule the Amstaff was the same as the pitbull. The council withdrew their defense before the court had to rule. The outcome was obvious though, because the plaintiffs own American ''expert'' witness gave evidence that the Amstaff was the "show name" in the U.S.A for the pitbull. She was a APBT breed expert. Obviously the council recognised a pandoras box in the offing & withdrew before a judgement was issued. Can you imagine the repercussions if the court ruled the Amstaff & the APBT were the same breed & the ruling was passed into law.? Amstaffs would then be a banned import & all Amstaffs would be liable to the restricted dog legislations What a mess. The council should be applauded for it's common sense decision. Secondly, if, as has occured O/S, legislation is enacted to declare an ANKC registered breed as ''restricted/banned'', ANKC papers will merely confirm a dog is a ''restricted/banned'' breed & subject to all the ''restrictions''
  18. Good grief, The much lamented 26 point plan has been around in Qld for well over a decade. Of all the states in Australia, Qld has been the most ruthless, & most criticised, destroyer of pit bulls for the longest time. It is hard to imagine anyone in Qld would take on a dog of the "type", sans documentation to the contrary, without knowing the danger they were putting the dog in. they aren't talking about QLD..they are talking about the standard that VIC has recently implemented which is very vague and could include a number of not pit bull breeds. Have a look at it. are you actually reading posts or just being argumentative and insulting? I am reading the posts, but you don't appear to be. When I posted my agreement with the recommendation by the coroner suggesting owners be liable for the proof of breed of suspect dogs, not the authorities. Cosmolo challenged to the opinion was based on her personal position of having taken possession of two dogs, apparently of the "type", within the last seven or eight years. Qld is the most active, unrelenting anti pit bull state in the country & has been for more than a decade. Cosmolo lives in Qld. Ignorance of the law is no excuse. Ignorance of the law is not a legitimate defence.
  19. Only Tommy, the pinball wizard, wouldn't be aware of B.S.L Those selling the dogs to those that seek them certainly know of it. Pretty lame excuse that one.

  21. So the government has definitely listened to the THAT'S NOT A PITBULL but a CROSSBREED cry and with the collection of data where Pitbull types have been falsely registered as crossbreeds.......what??, you can't understand why they are targeting crossbreeds??.........I surely can!! Do those worried about their dogs of unknown heritage really have as much to fear as the owners of the pure breeds most commonly nominated in the pit bull masquarade? The amstaff & staffy in particular & to a lesser extend the bull mastif, rhodesian ridgeback, the labrador etc. Some of these breeds have already been banned in various locations simply by the association. Do they even really care about the fate of the at risk pure breeds? I'm guessing the coroner of this thread recognised the M.O. of the owners of suspected restricted breeds & made her suggestion to place the onus of identification on the owner rather than them claiming "xbreed'' & challenging the authorities to prove otherwise. The easiest option is impose a blanket ban to cover all the possibilities. As has happened O/S If it came to pass here, your ANKC papers wouldn't be your saviour. 1) Obviously ATM they have more to fear. 2)Of course they care about the fate of at risk pedigrees. Its a point you have been ignoring till now.Seems you might be starting to see a little more than you were about why we don't see B.S.L as a solution. You haven't cared about anyone else, but now you bring up who cares about you. 3) I don't contest at all that a lot of people have been directly responsible for these measures being brought in.I do contest "The easiest option" as you put it,is the right one,or even the effective one. Oh dear, Stop being so ridiculous, & stop making such ridiculous assumptions. You lot really are one trick ponies. People make their own choices. Those that chose a dog of indeterminal heritage which bears a striking resemblance to a breed subject to a legislation that demands a strict criterior for ownership made their own choices. BSL has been in place for over a decade. So obviously they have made a conscience decision & chose the ''type'' they wanted. Hey, what do we care?......Let the Devil take tomorrow. Well hello It's tomorrow. So why should those who chose an ANKC registered pure breed have to pay the piper for a jig called by others? There are thousands more ANKC registered family pets than there are ANKC registered "show dogs" ANKC registered dog owners made their choice because they are diserning. They want to know what they will have when the cute wears off. They want to know what they are getting for their buck. Too smart by half. B.t.w. Being ANKC registered isn't some sort of ritualistic secret society that is the secretive realm only for the annointed. All ANKC registered breeders are required to register all surviving whelps. So wipe away the crocodile tears, take the responsibility for your actions & if you are unhappy with the outcomes, take aim at those who instigated the B.S.L Joe Public. If you want support, You should keep this in mind, You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar.
  22. As long as it is well advertised &/or signposted so purchasers don't get a nasty surprise after they have bought. It would a be burglars paradise though, no dogs. The local panel beater & security patrol would have attack cats. The cops, sniffer wombats. Sounds like paradise. If you're a villian.
