Horrific and I'd be seeing the owners of the other dogs in court.

MP, I can't always afford to cremate my dogs but I'm spiritual and I know that their soul has left their body and they are always with me. Hugs to you, he will always be watching over you and walking by your side.

Well I hope the owners get more than a trifling fine, it's absolutely disgusting.

It is good to think of others for whom Christmas is often a reminder of what they don't have and everyone else seems to. I don't have much spare cash but I always try and buy one small gift to put under the wishing tree at work or in the shopping centre. It might just make someone smile and know that someone cares. Last year I also bought Oxfam gifts for some friends that have pretty much everything.

What a lovely story - 21 years is incredible but a hell of an adjustment for those left behind. RIP old boy.

Spirit Tasmania Dog Deaths
Her Majesty Dogmad replied to wildchild's topic in General Dog Discussion
What a terrible tragedy, something you'd never imagine could happen. Makes you wonder if the owner could have died of it as well if she'd gone down to spend time with them? How safe is it all? We rehomed one of our Italian Greyhounds to Tassie just over a week ago. What we didn't know about was "Altitude sickness", she almost died as a result of the flight. Luckily with vet treatment she has pulled through and is now recovering well. It seems that nothing is without risks. -
so sorry, hugs to you

Dear little Banshee, what a heartbreak Jo and so unfair. Hugs to you.

1. Good with other dogs 2. Loving 3. Low shedding 4. Not high energy/young 5. No desire to escape out the front door or run off if you drop the lead My new Italian Greyhound fits this bill perfectly!

It only takes a couple of days for a dog to learn a new name. Don't feel bad about it - I rescue dogs from the pound and you don't normally know their name so have to give them a name and then sometimes new owners don't like it so they get another name. It's not great but it is unavoidable and dogs are amazingly adaptable!

Not keen on Rhys for a dog myself. I like something a bit unusual, how about: Gatsby or Floyd

There have been 2 potential foster carers but both have not come to fruition. My next step is to test her with other dogs whilst she's on the lead, under the cirumstances it is the best I can do, this will be crucial in finding her a home. Depending on that, I will be advertising her but want that last bit of info before I do.

Makeshift Doggy Diaper/nappy Thingameebob
Her Majesty Dogmad replied to HugUrPup's topic in General Dog Discussion
Has the dog been to a vet? It's not an old dog and shouldn't have a peeing problem at this stage. -
The owners took on a friend's male Collie Rough for a few months, a couple of years ago. Elly lived in harmony with this dog in the yard, the only issue was that the other dog took her food and she wasn't so happy with that but it was nothing terrible. Best not to feed dogs together anyway but they didn't know that. I'm happy to come over on weekends and help with dog testing - we tried on our first visit but we hadn't realised how big she was, we didn't have the full story and we didn't have a choker chain so it just wasn't safe to continue our testing.

I don't think they've treated her for heartworm for a while. I had asked them to get some flea treatments, they have looked after her previously in this regard. I'm really hoping that she'll be moving within the next month - we just need to test her with other dogs and this will help with finding a foster carer.

She needs a heart transplant so that perhaps she can develop some empathy for animals and how people feel when their pets go missing. Throw the book at her, it's lucky the little dog survived.

Dog Ramps, Recommendations Please.
Her Majesty Dogmad replied to juice's topic in General Dog Discussion
Hey Juice, I'll be heading in your direction next weekend and you can trial a ramp that I was given to trial, before I return it to my friend. It was good but I found my arthritis was set off, it's just a bit heavy for me and now my bigger dogs have passed away anyhow. -
Thanks Rachel, you are making a huge difference to the quality of her life right now. I can come over on Saturday (have got an appointment at 8am and won't be back home until after 11am) with one of my dogs, I could also see if a friend of mine who has large dogs might be able to bring her calm boy (Rottie cross) so we cculd get some idea of how she is.
