  1. There are Facebook Crestie pages and a rescue in VIC and i'll alert them!
  2. the facebook link doesn't work I thought she was a dingo as soon as I saw the clip. Neko would be dead in an instant at that place because as soon as one of my whippets even touches her when they're running, she squeals to warn them. If she did that in a group of excited boisterous dogs who dont know her she'd likely be torn to shreds. I can imagine if poor little Wags yelped because he was trodden on, or knocked the same thing would have happened. Can someone post a link to the facility's page please? Just go onto Facebook and search for Farmer Dave and it will come up.
  3. Maybe all those dogs belong to the owners on the FB page who don't give a crap about their dogs! Farmer Dave sure as hell can't either.
  4. Never compromise on dental health, bad/loose teeth need to come out, no matter what the age. I have been rescuing small dogs for years and toy breeds (as others have indicated) often suffer from poor dentitian, no matter what the owners feed the dogs. As an example, I rescue Italian Greyhounds amongst other dogs, if they are over 3 yrs of age, they pretty much all need a dental and some need extractions. In 2009 I rescued a male Italian aged 5 who had not had any dental treatment in his life, his teeth were rotting in his head and unfortunately for me I got him too late. During the urgent surgery to remove his rotten teeth - all of them - his jaw crumbled from the untreated infection and my vet had to put him to sleep whilst under anaesthetic. Apart from the terrible stench when he arrived and the severe pain he was in, he also had what appeared to be pus coming out of his eyes and his ears were extremely painful. Toy dogs only have tiny frames so the infection can become widespread if you don't keep their teeth in good condition.
  5. Hilarious. Now I also see that people are posting that Wags probably started it .... FFS. You can see from all the pictures that Wags didn't have one mean bone in his body, he looked happy enough but then in the picture above he looked utterly dejected and terrified. These people obviously have no idea about Cavaliers, sure you can get the odd rogue one perhaps (I haven't ever met one yet) but generally speaking they are extremely gentle and definitely not trouble makers. It seems they'd say anything to ensure FD isn't at fault in any way ...
  6. Some people simply don't like being asked any questions at all. Sometimes those people will say to me "look, I've had dogs all my life, why should I answer all these bloody questions, I just want to adopt a dog".
  7. I think the issue can be when someone has met a dog and gets to yardcheck stage they pretty much expect to be adopting the dog. Some rescue groups work in that way and the yard check can be a real shock. I don't work that way usually, I do a yard check before any meeting and after a phone interview. The yard check is only done if they seem like a great prospect. I have an application form and they need to say how high their fencing is (Italian Greyhounds & Whippets can jump or climb very high). I've had someone declare 6 ft fencing which is fine but then my homechecker gets there and discovers it is on one side but all other sides are 4 ft. This isn't ok. I explain why - I am not rude or upset even though mine and my homechecker's time have been wasted but I explain why it won't be ok, even though we have already discussed this during the phone interview.
  8. T - you are too kind! PAWS has some lovely dogs it's true. Depends what your friends want Fbaudry - I will message you and am happy to help. I have an angel here who is just going up for adoption, he's so close to being a foster failure - I have to be strong!!
  9. Dave is on the same property and is in a relationship with the son. I went there a few times when I used to drive pound dogs for other rescues and they boarded there. I was horrified when I saw a huge amount of greyhounds in small cages with no comforts in cold weather and I asked about them and was told they were going to be shipped to Asia. I didn't ever go there again as I found it very upsetting. I am very anti greyhound racing and very anti live baiting, I won't deny it. There is a high sided enclosure right at the front of the property used for training the greys, if you live and work there, over a period of time, I'm sure you'd probably see lots of comings and goings. Who knows, some people do like to wear blinkers. My point is why was it even mentioned in this story? This is about a cav that died under suspicious circumstances at a boarding facility not about greyhound racing or live baiting but I'm sure it will be now. I'm not sure if you're implying I think live baiting is acceptable :/ I'm not going to answer that but I'm certainly not anti racing, otherwise I wouldn't be friends with Kym and Bobby seeing he's a retired trainer and still involved in the racing industry. Horses yes but still scum of the earth according to the keyboard warriors that despise "animals used for profit and gambling" You could say why did they film him with the dog getting loose as that wasn't related to Wags' death either, it's like any news story, the tentacles can reach far and wide and it is on the same premises that he lives and works on, it isn't down the road or in the next suburb. I did not imply anything about you Hazywal, you made that connection. It is like most things, some people agree with things and some people don't. Farmer Dave has plenty of owners that take their dogs there don't give a stuff about Wags' death and are happy to keep going with the way things are. I'd hazard a guess that this would be until their own dog gets mauled or killed. Until then they will continue in ignorance of the risk, even if it's so obvious.
  10. Both of your posts make excellent sense Malti. I can have a lovely home on offer but have a dog that cannot cope as an only dog. Making a placement there will not bring happiness for the dog or the new owners when they find poo/wee everywhere, torn household items, get complaints from their neighbours and so on. I will help the lovely home find just the right dog or if I'm flat out, i'll point them in the right direction. I do the same with foster carers, I just had to turn down a very nice foster home as their fencing was too low for the dogs I generally take. I recommended them to PAWS as they were so keen to help and were very good dog owners and they got a 14 year old dog the next day who needed medications and was quite the challenge. They did an amazing job and he found an amazing home a couple of months on. Great results all round. I am desperate for foster carers myself but will not risk the injury/death of one of my rescued IGs by placing them in the wrong home.

  12. Some valid points and I regularly rehome to homes that are nothing like mine however there are some basics that I require so I won't compromise on those.
  13. In case you didn't see it, Channel 7 had a follow up tonight: https://au.news.yahoo.com/nsw/video/watch/28426459/wags-the-dog-plot-thickens/#page1 Whilst reporter is talking to Farmer Dave, a dog escapes from the property and runs up the road .... It also mentions that the owner of the premises he rents is involved in the live baiting investigation.
  14. I haven't seen that photo before and yes, he does look terrified. That's very upsetting to see - how come the idiot with the camera didn't see it??? It's very obvious. The smell of fear will set other dogs off unfortunately.
  15. He hasn't learnt from this nor previous mistakes - he's still running large groups together, photos on his site show that. It's a massive money spinner, placing your dog there is not cheap and there are lots of extras charged - some things you can't prove they actually happened.
  16. Absolutely so that it couldn't happen again. Maybe, with the numbers involved and apparent lack of supervision they don't actually know how/who started it. There is no doubt that Wags suffered horribly and this is what sickens me to the core and also that they tried to cover it up. Farmer Dave SHOULD be feeling very uncomfortable but who knows, he didn't appear to give a crap after it happened. Now the business is in the spotlight, well.
  17. I doubt they even know, the Centre has provided more than one different story on this.
  18. Judging by many of the comments on FD's Facebook page, some owners do not wish to be educated and have attacked anyone showing common sense in this matter. They are going to continue sending their dogs there no matter what has happened. More fool them but it's the dogs that pay the price for their stupidity.
  19. Do you mean Socares that is running Wyong Pound? My understanding is that Socares is made up of a number of rescue groups. I visited Wyong Pound earlier in the year as a rescuer and asked about various dogs there and was told not to worry they would all be / were all fine. The original founder of Socares no longer works for the organisation as far as I know.
  20. Farmer Dave has come up with a few versions. The last one I saw said that a staffy had attacked the Cavvie when it was in a pen with only 4 other dogs. The photos they themselves posted on their FB page showed a lack of understanding of dog behaviour by putting the Cavvie at enormous risk amongst a huge pack of much larger dogs. From my own experience of multiple dog enclosures, when a fight started it would then involve almost every other dog, horrendous. Also, if you find the owner's FB page, there are a number of other owners coming on with their experiences which are also not good.
  21. what I read is that they were given permission by the owner to do so and then they (owner) changed their mind How odd I haven't seen anything about it but who drops their dog off at according to the thread title a "doggie DAY care" and then when it dies there the owner says "oh just bury it then"? Was the dog boarding for a period of time or just there for the day? Just for the day. The autopsy is horrific, the poor little dog should never have been in a position to have this happen.
  22. Some of the videos I have seen of this facility shows many many dogs running around together .... I counted something like 50 in one. In this case, photos of the dead dog were posted on the Facebook page the day after the dog had been mauled to death. Photos showed Cavalier with multiple, much larger dogs inc GSD, Great Dane types, Bull Arabs, all sorts. I was terrified for the little one and the fact that they put the photos on their FB page AFTER the death was unbelievable.
  23. I mentioned this on another thread but someone lost their dog at a centre in North West Sydney last week in an incident that should not have happened. It was then covered up by the centre who buried the dog before the owner got there. The story is upsetting but it's important to know about these things if you are a dog owner who might be considering doing day care for their dogs or boarding at a facility. The facility has a Facebook page and anyone who asks questions or mentions this terrible incident is blocked. The story that the centre has provided has changed considerably since it first came to light.
  24. Appalling, she obviously learned nothing. The dog shouldn't have sat in kennels for two years however nor should it be back in the community. How many times does a dog have to carry out "vicious attacks" on other dogs and bite people in the process before it is found to be an unsuitable pet that is unsafe to have around? I wouldn't let the owners have anything but a goldfish.
  25. I'd expect them to listen to what I said, I had awful troubles with 3 dog walkers I paid to walk my dogs so gave up. I just wanted my old dogs walked in the middle of the day around the block, I said to the 2nd walker "you cannot run with this old dog, please don't walk her too quickly or too far" - I was very clear but she ended up with a cruciate ligament injury after he admitted that he jogged along with her .... That's just one example. The comments above are also very important, legally in NSW you can only have 4 dogs under your control in a public place - this law was brought in because too many dog walkers had large groups of out of control dogs. So many worries when you ask others to look after your animals, I trust very few to do a good job. Doggie Day Care is another example. I don't know if anyone here has read the terrible story of a Cavalier that was mauled to death last week at a centre in North West Sydney? Very disturbing.
