There are a couple in this area and the breed even have a very good rescue arm, someone in Canberra! Some of the dogs I've seen over the years in rescue that have been thought to be Scottie Terrier crosses have been pretty naughty dogs! Black is not such a popular colour either I guess.

Recommended, Effective Treatments And Shampoos.

Def Malaseb is essential but depending on what it is, I've also used Alloveen on pound dogs with itchy/scabby skins and that plus good diet does help but over time. Generally I've used Alloveen for dogs with a sore skin or baldness issues due to lack of flea prevention. -
It will have to be extremely good natured with a bossy female JRT but you can find them! I had one who was a wonderful dog and she tolerated my bossy female JRT type as well!

Well I hope to God they aren't planning on breeding them. It's the last thing we need.

Buying Prescription Drugs For Dogs
Her Majesty Dogmad replied to Kirislin's topic in General Dog Discussion
One of the drugs i use is "Optimune" for dry eyes. My vet has an offer from the manufacturer that means you buy 2, get one free which means the tubes work out at $60 each rather than $94 .... One tube lasts this dog 2 months but i've had another dog where it only lasted a month, depends on the dosage of course. -

Great news! If they need any housetraining tips pls let me know! -
What a moron. In his position he should be providing an example to the great unwashed. That he thinks every household should be raising puppies or kittens for the joy of seeing new life is VERY disturbing. Very few households would be capable of providing the environment, nutrition, vet care or training that this would require. And where would they live? Thankfully not everyone thinks that way - only people who live in the dark ages or are so thick they can't think outside of their 4 walls or more than 5 minutes into the future ... I agree with Juice, I'd like to see all those who bring lives into the world deal with the aftermath of that and spend a week in the RSPCA euthanasia room. I'll never forget a documentary by the RSPCA showing them killing basketfuls of kittens for days on end. Horrific.

Very sad for you and the family. Hugs to you all. -
I agree, i've been in this suburb for over 10 years and in the last few years, there are constant glass shards in the local sports field and car park, garbage thrown on the park on Sat nights from yobs gathering and as for dog poo, dont' get me started. I constantly have to dodge it and it pisses me off - I walk 3 dogs at a time and if I can pick up why can't other dog owners? Often it's people with larger dogs who seem not to worry at all. I think it's really bad when they go to the sports oval and leave it there, maybe not as bad as the pavement though because it's just far to easy for poor people to walk in it - and their dogs - they don't all seem to avoid it. If I catch people letting their dogs do a crap and they are not going to pick it up, I say "do you want a bag for that" .... they normally sheepishly accept it and say "i forgot mine" and I'm sure they know that I know they are a liar ....

Everybody Loves Raymond

Great news! Very happy for you both, sad and happy tears all at once when we rehome our fosters. Generally I don't think the sighthounds normally enjoy water all that much although we've just rehomed an Iggy that loved to get in the shower with his foster family each morning!! Most unusual. -
Dog Attacks Cat In Dogs Own Yard
Her Majesty Dogmad replied to Clyde's topic in General Dog Discussion
I don't think cats are allowed to roam in NSW but perhaps I'm wrong. I grew up with cats but have terriers now so it's definitely not possible but if I ever have a cat in the future, it will be coontained in some sort of run, I couldn't cope with not knowing what happened to the cat if it didn't come home one day. Some of the laws are quite ridiculous though - I wasn't allowed to rescue a very small dog from the pound last year as it had been declared a "dangerous dog". It had killed a guinea pig, I'll never forget the poor little mite. I like all animals but someone gave the dog access to the guinea pig - ie the a---hole owners who then got their dog a death sentence rather than allowing it a chance at life. So very wrong. -
If anyone is in that area and willing to do a visit to look at 2 dogs in need, could you pls pm me?

Never a wiser word spoken Powerlegs... I like to actually KNOW the dog I'm putting up for adoption... we usually have ours for longer than 2 weeks to be sure on ALL counts before trying to place a dog into a new home. T. Amen to that statement. If only everyone was interested in getting to know the dogs they were rescuing before rehoming, we'd all be better off.

What Is A Responsible Dog Owner?
Her Majesty Dogmad replied to Leema's topic in General Dog Discussion
As a rescuer, one thing I'd add (which many owners fail on) is flea/heartworm/worm treatments. So many dogs in the pound are crawling with fleas. I don't know if this equates with medical but it should be highlighted and it's something I always check on with potential new owners - if they have no idea what I'm referring to then they are not going to be the right home for any of my dogs. I get very concnered when I hear about people not wanting to use chemicals for it often means that their dogs will be crawling with fleas which is also not good for their health ... I also have several friends who are groomers and they tell me many a horror story and these are people's pets ... -
Far too often the councils do not do the right thing, there are a lot of dogs out there who are an issue but get away with it, or rather the owners do.
