  1. Add Pumpkin, it's good for their digestion! Mine all get the runs after any raw meat so that's a no no.
  2. simone - i'm not sure if you are referring to greys left with vets to donate blood but basically they die, having "donated" all their blood at the same time.
  3. So sorry, that is way too young to lose your dog. Hugs to you, that would be truly devastating especially as you'd done all you could for her.
  4. iggy mum, you should know who to ask when you have an issue of this kind - my vet tells me I'm the anal gland expert - dogs from all the pounds pick me as their rescuer just because they have a full botty - literally every dog I pick pretty much ... :D I think Mupps has got what I call "old dog bottom". Nothing to worry about but doesn't look good esp on an old Iggy ... I've got a dog with a problem right now, I rescued her with a very red, sore bottom as the glands had probably never been done. We've had them emptied about 4 times in 3 months - sometimes when they aren't cared for in this regard it does take a few months to get them working properly. With my old Iggy, he had Inflammatory Bowel Disease and that also causes a.g. problems so they have to be done every few weeks ...
  5. Maybe consult a vet who takes an all round approach? The ALl Natural Vet in Russell Lea, Sydney does that, they are very expensive but the results i've experienced have been worth it but then they weren't as complex as this case. We just took Leo the Italian Greyhound there, he's got 2 kinds of cancer and we hope he'll be with us for many months. He was very anxious due to the cirumstances that led to his surrender to us and in very poor physical shape - very thin (bony) and bald in places. He's been doing well with a wonderful foster carer who's home all day, but after going to the AN Vet, he was prescribed chinese herbs and a special anti cancer diet. He's apparently lost his haunted look and is really very happy, has put on weight and his hair is growing back. Pretty amazing. Love the pictures - I'm not surprised Murphy is an FF - he's gorgeous. Hoping you can find something to help Jake lead a comfortable life. :)
  6. BJ Bear has a potential home on the central coast, PAWS would be very grateful for some assistance with a homecheck please? :)
  7. I should add that Newcastle Dog rescue was contacted and it wasn't one of theirs.
  8. Another rescue in Sydney has asked me to post this to see if anyone recognises this dog. I have scant information but the current owner got her from someone in Newcastle area and now wants to take her back. I've asked the other group if the owner at least has any certificates as finding the vet might identify the group. "Lulu" has to be gone within the next 2 weeks.
  9. Here they are, during a recent cold spell - I had nowhere to sit ... LOL
  10. A bit OT, but what does the bolded bit mean? What - they just use them for blood and then euth when done with them Is that correct?? They have been doing this for years with greyhounds. The blood is used for dogs in need of donations. I rescued a greyhound a few years ago that had been given to a vet for that purpose.
  11. At the end of 2009 I adopted an old Maltese boy who'd had a life of cruelty and then lived in a shelter for a year. I'd always liked him but couldn't adopt him until end 2009. I'd only had him for 6 months and went overseas for a month, he didn't even look back when I left him with a friend who is a dog minder. When I got back a month later and went to pick him up, he was so overjoyed to see me that it brought tears to my eyes, he kissed my face over and over, it was truly lovely and made me think he'd missed me indeed.
  12. How very sad, what a dear little man. Seniors & Silkies do great work and rescue the most wonderful little dogs. Thank you for giving a loving home to an oldie in need. I take oldies too, they are so precious as your time together will be always be too short. Hugs to you.
  13. Iggy Rescue have taken on a Foxy/Iggy cross and I have a potential home for him on the central coast with a Chihuahua x. there's no urgency to this as Geronimo won't be in Sydney for another 2-3 weeks, he's currently in Broken Hill but we'd like to get the process started. Thanks in advance!
  14. Where is it nearby? Just wondering because I've never heard of it!
  15. Hi Merryn - thank you, I'm not much of a FB person but I've also had an email from a DOLer who is in Katoomba so I think Puggy Wuggy boy will be sorted!
  16. Thanks for the tips T, he wasn't too bad, stopped whinging just after 1.30 I think ... more than I hoped for. He was good the rest of the night, i always get up at around 7 with the dogs and then have a lie in on a Sunday but don't think we'll be doing that today somehow. He's off to the vet and a PAWS foster carer today - woo hoo! I'm sure the foster carer will come up with a masculine name. The kid had wanted a female dog but only males left so she gave him the name she wanted to call a female dog ....
  17. Dear little Bugsy, the chubby Pug cross from Wyong has a potential home in Katoomba. PAWS needs someone to do a homecheck. Home is with another little Puggy man. Bugsy's the dearest little man on the planet, so only the best will do!! Pleaes pm me if you can help! Thanks in advance.
  18. He's been starved of attention but am hoping to get some sleep ... or we might see Mrs Grumpy get an outing on a Sunday morning!!
  19. Here he is - and HIS name is "Bella" - a bit like the man called "Sue" LOL. He's a busy little boy, thankfully I have a huge dog enclosure in the middle of my lounge room which has come in very handy ... He's had dinner, had a run around and annoyed the oldies - let's hope I can get some sleep tonight, he's also very noisy ...
