  1. Oh cute!! I've been lucky enough to see one of these guys in real life. An old boss of mine was with wires. He was being fed meal worms and looked so scary when he ate!! I loved him!
  2. My baby is 5 months old, in the last 5 months my dog has gone from being walked most days to now only having 2 walks in 5 months, I take the baby out a lot but it's just too much taking the dog as well, From getting some training to Getting none, from being inside all the time to only coming in at night (unless the weather is bad) I'm an experienced dog owner, I know what they need and feel so guilty I can't give or to her. 12 months ago I would have told anyone off for Rehoming a dog because it was too much with a baby. Right now I can understand why some people do it. I know things will get better and I'm lucky my dog is ok with the changes, but at times it's hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel and have even had the odd thought that my dog would be better elsewhere. I never realised how hard being a mum works be, yes, there are some people who can manage ok but there are a lot more who can't.
  3. I won't get into the council bit. I know a while ago the rangers were picking everything up trying to seize it. Truth is that since I've stopped working I'm not that in touch with everything and not sure how bad it has been.
  4. The club folded 12(?) months ago. I heard a lot of complaints that could have easily been fixed but they never listened to the people. I haven't heard much about delta, but know she costs a lot of a 6(?) week block of training and her training methods don't suit a lot of people (nor does the price) The obedience club was $3 a lesson, morning tea supplied and a small joining fee, when I first started there were 20+ people in each class, last time I went there was 15 people in total There are a few people talking about starting a new club. But nothing ever happens
  5. There are a few Orange people here so thought I would share Something badly needs to be done about an obedience club, I still can't believe we dont have one anymore http://www.centralwesterndaily.com.au/story/1656972/staying-out-of-the-doghouse/ LYN and Leo Psylliakos spent almost $7000 in a legal battle to clear the name of their boxer/Rhodesian ridgeback dog Uncle since he nipped a woman on the leg in December and now the couple wants to help other dog owners avoid a similar fate. Orange City Council wanted to declare Uncle and his companion Ziggy the kelpie dangerous dogs because of the incident, meaning the dogs would have been surrendered and euthanised or spent the rest of their lives in a cage with a concrete floor. Months later the dogs avoided a dangerous dog classification but both have a control order instead meaning they must be muzzled and leashed when outside their yard and can only be let out of the cage when their owners are home. Mrs Psylliakos hopes to use her experiences to set up a dog owners’ group to help others avoid the same situation. So far she has set-up a Facebook page to gauge interest but needs to recruit five committee members to form an association. “People don’t know what the laws are,” she said. “Most [owners] surrender their dogs when they go through what we did because they haven’t got the money. “There seems to be genuine miscommunication.” With current laws classifying everything from a dog intimidating someone through to a bite as a dog attack, Mrs Psylliakos said many incidents were a result of a dog’s natural instinct kicking in and more education was needed for everyone. “Assuming that all dogs are okay because your dog is okay is a massive assumption,” she said. “Dogs use their mouths like we use our hands.” Mrs Psylliakos hopes to receive a grant from council to kick start the group and eventually wants to host agility classes to fill a gap in the market for Orange dog owners which currently can only access puppy classes. The group could also lobby for better off leash dog parks for Orange with only one fenced area in Dalton Street currently available. “There is something like 20,000 dogs in Orange and that’s only the ones that are registered,” she said. “The council gets approximately 15 calls a day about dog incidents and that could just be dogs barking. “Something needs to happen.” Dog owners interested in joining the group can contact Lyn at [email protected].
  6. Lol, Love the photo saying what families with babies should have, I don't have time to brush my hair or goto the hairdresser let alone get a dog groomed as needed!
  7. And ignore it all, Old thread
  8. Have you looked into petsitting? I use kennels for my dog but if she had allergies and such I would look at leaving her at home with someone coming over twice a day. I don't live in the area so no advice on kennels
  9. Oh and my work place has the sign up. I told them to remove it. Haven't been back in to see if they did it or not
  10. Oh and my work place has the sign up. I told them to remove it. Haven't been back in to see if they did it or not
  11. I've read the thing in the paper, as I said. I don't know what to think It's also been spread locally for weeks. Notes are up all over town, all over facebook. All I did is say that I know someone who had to remove their dog When they asked me I said it very well could have been someone just trying to scare them, but would I take the chance? No.
  12. Yep in orange but not sure what area. I've heard that Bathurst story as well, someone posted it on the buy swap sell forums a few weeks back
  13. Well after saying I didn't believe in it.. Went to a friends today, they had a lovely staffy x there... She is visiting because the owners found a red ribbon on their fence, called the police and they said get rid of the dog ASAP. It's the first time I've talked to someone who has seen it
  14. I wouldn't have recommended you if you were not amazing! I love seeing my Atlas every day and get so many people asking me about it
  15. God I'm sick of hearing about this. Someone has put signs up all over town about it. Latest one I've seen is them spray painting a triangle on your front path.... I'm pretty involved in the dog world here, and for something that is happening allllll the time, in yet to talk to or even hear of someone who has seen these magical ribbons
