  1. Thanks everyone for the suggestions! K9 Company didn't know of anyone and there aren't any NDTF accredited trainers in the area. I have recently been provided with a flyer for a trainer in Bairnsdale that seems to have some Behavioural training. I'm going to call her today so will let you know how that goes :D Bianca - I hope we can both get help for our dogs. At the moment we manage Beau's introductions to people and dogs and its fine but obviously the more training and socialisation we can do with him the better!
  2. Hi everyone! I am new to this forum :D My partner and dogs have moved to our home town, Bairnsdale in East Gippsland, Victoria. I am going to join them in a few weeks. One of our dogs 'Beau' was a rescue from ACT Rescue & Foster, adopted at approx six months old. He has some issues with not having been socialised enough (we believe) as a young puppy. He is reactive to strangers and other dogs (if not introduced correctly). It is based on fear, so if he feels threatened he might lunge, he doesn't tend to growl and has nipped strangers twice before. We have done Beginners training at Canberra Obedience club and then when his behaviour escalated after we moved to Melbourne he was seen by a behaviourist and then we began training with the K9 company in Melbourne. They are NDTF accredited and were really fantastic, but unfortunately we can't take them with us :p We want to continue his training and socialisation in Bairnsdale or the surrounding area. I know there is a volunteer run obedience club there but they have told me they are not specifically trained on dealing with dogs like him. We can take him there, I just am hesitant about making other people uncomfortable if he were to lunge. I was just wondering if anyone knows of any trainers or groups in the area that are good at helping with reactive dogs? Thanks, Yvette
