OMD that first one of Koda in the blankies... that face... *melt* What was that Koda? You want my life savings... OK then tlc you have to post some pics! I am going through withdrawal of your gang! I 'liked' a couple of your photos on your FB page from my OH's account cos I felt like I was missing them so I went and searched them out :D hopefully that doesn't sound too creepy Bronson and his towels is very cute Yes loving the bokeh, can you tell much :p On our walkies today OH wanted a break so we sat down and I took the opportunity to get some quick shots of them. I said to my Mum who was with us I just love this camera and lens, it makes we look good no matter what I do  I think however that when I backlight like in these shots I really need to bring the flash as they aren't getting enough light on their faces, it just adds more weight to take on a 6km walk though If you had seen how dim the location I was shooting in was you wouldn't believe those shots could have come from it. It is incredible how much light the lens lets in. Also I would value your advice, do you think they are over exposed? The camera and Lightroom always say they are overexposed but I like them like this. Perhaps if I have the flash to light their faces in the future then the background can afford to be a little darker? I don't really know, still experimenting... considering I had never picked up a camera before the start of this year I'm definitely still a bit of a noob

Gus Had His First Pre-puppy School Bath.
Gertrude139 replied to Steph M's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
 Oh Yes, I remember puppies first bath..... followed shortly after by puppies first deliberate 'dig a mud hole whilst mum's watching just to spite her'. VERY cute pics Steph M, looks like you've got a bit of a drama queen on your hands! Gus might have an acting career in his future! -
Butch is very cute Corie, he has a very soulful look in his eyes in the first photo. JackC Koda is adorable, I just love love love his markings the white stripe on his head and his white socks and then brown socks with white toes on the back legs. Shame about no dogs on the Great Ocean Rd I never knew that and it is the one drive I really wanted to do in the near future. 4 from me this week :D one for each current resident 24/52 Cookie (foster) 361A9072.jpg by Gertrude139, on Flickr Oreo (foster) 361A9077-Edit.jpg by Gertrude139, on Flickr Salt 361A9114.jpg by Gertrude139, on Flickr Athena 361A9067.jpg by Gertrude139, on Flickr

Ada Dogs And Access To All Areas?
Gertrude139 replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
When I raised guide dog puppies we had designated excursions to normally off limit places. So we would go to the shops to get them used it but it was always with a guide dogs trainer, we couldn't just go whenever we wanted. I don't think they would be allowed in national parks while in training even with a guide dog trainer as like HW said there isn't really a need. -

No I don't but my OH does, sometime I use his to look at stuff

Especially on the 5D body which already weighs a ton compared to what I am used to. I tried the 70-200 on in the shop, it was the old model though which is slightly heavier again, I am going to have to start doing weights again if I do want to get it  That's a big difference $600 compared to over 2k, definitely something for me to think about. But the hard decision is choosing if I want another zoom lens or a prime as a second lens. OH has always loved 35mm and 50mm but now I am thinking I want an 85mm since I have been looking at your photos. I asked my colleagues at work what they would get as they are both photography nuts and now I have sparked quite a heated discussion as they can't agree! Oops! The 50mm f/1.4 is such a good price though I think it is hard to go past. Sorry for hiacking a bit Rainers

Thanks for the nice words guys! Yes Salt's white fur is hard, trying to get the right inbetween so its not blown out and so it's not shadowed and looks blue is hard. Especially since he refuses to cooperate and sit where I want him in the nice light! The pink wall is at the same park as the other two pics. It's a large park with individual gardens in it which are themed as different countries, this was the entrance way to one of the gardens, can't remember which one, either Dutch or South America I think. Perfect as it happens to match Athena's tongue colour! The leaf eating shot was the last one of the day, I had been using the leaves to get Salts attention so I threw them at him and clicked and it worked pretty well. Love the black and white filter Impatiens, suits Harvey very well, very old world. Fantastic contrast with the planks behind him being light with dark gaps and the ones beneath him black with white in between.

I can see that with the different DOF now that you have said that but I admit I didn't notice to begin with. I showed my OH and he said "oh so now it's funny... when I take photos of ours being naughty you tell me off" It's true I tell him not to encourage it, but now I know that you planned this shot  I think your Sigma lenses do an excellent job too, that's why I mentioned it even though I have the canon. Since I went for the more expensive body it meant I could only get one lens and whilst the 24-70 is quite versatile I am wondering if I would have been better to get two non Canon brand lenses instead. Huge difference, but my 40D is fairly old now and the lens I was using on it wasn't great. I took photos at Vivid on Saturday night and there is no way the 40D would have coped with the low light but the 5D performed great. Not that I will be using it for night photography often but it will certainly help in overcast conditions as well. I have had to get used to the reduced zoom, the old lens was a 28-105 on a crop now I have a 24-70 on a FF, but it's made me less lazy too and I think I am getting nicer shots out of it as a result. Also I can get closer to the dogs so it is easier for me to keep their attention which is always useful :) I would love a 70-200 F/2.8 though...

Great shots tlc I have a friend who is about to get a new camera and was going to get the 7D but has now been convinced to get the 6D after many recommendations. I've just got a new camera, upgraded from a 40D to a 5D and I am really enjoying the full frame. Another thing to think about if you go the 6D you could buy Sigma or Tamron lenses to save a bit, you've probably already thought of that but just thought I would mention it. If you want Aussie stock rather than grey I recommend digiDirect.com.au they have the 6D for just under 2k, I was able to get a discount of a few hundred off my 5D which I bought from them so you should be able to get a good deal there.
