  1. Great shot Impatiens, love the angle. I've been slack too and not had the camera out much at all lately last weeks effort was particularly poor, this week is a bit better. 27/52 - Zed (rescue) 28/52 - Latte (rescue) Look into my eyes…adopt me... by Gertrude139, on Flickr
  2. It was really an effort to take some last weekend for me too, if i didn't have my new weather sealed lens and camera I wouldn't have been able to, it was absolutely bucketing! Hankdog my guys take revenge on me for bathing them too... very cute shot of Jake, so naughty but so cute at the same time :) And Weibritty I could definitely see your week 23 close up shot of Clay printed on a large canvas to be hung on a wall, absolutely stunning!
  3. GIve it a bit longer, I have a foster at the moment like this who won't come near my sisters partner still and she's been with us for many months now. She warms to different people at different rates. Took her around 2 months to get used to my OH but is taking much longer with my sisters partner for some reason. If he keeps ignoring her she should get more comfortable with him slowly. That's my opinion anyway, based on other puppy farm type dogs that I've dealt with.
  4. Lovely pics, they look like they're having such fun together :)
  5. Wow great photos RV! Tigers and meerkats are two of my favourite animals, your shots are lovely. I think the snake photo is incredible! I am just starting out at taking photos and my OH got zoo tickets for his birthday recently so we will be going sometime soon to take photos. What would your tips be for sometime taking photos at the zoo for the first time? Also I only have a 24-70mm lens so I think I will need to hire something with more reach, I'm thinking 70-200m. Do you think that would be a good choice or should I get a bigger zoom? Hope you don't mind me asking for advice :) edited for a missing word...
  6. I placed an order on the 20th that left the US on the 24th too and I haven't seen mine yet. Typically they have taken 7-10 working days from time of order to arrive to me in the past so I am hopeful it will arrive this week. But in another clean run thread some people waited over a month to receive theirs from memory efs
  7. Butch has a really expressive face, and eyes, he looks like a real character :) Impatiens, Harvey looks so different in all three photos. You could have told me they were photos of him at different ages and I would have believed you! The second one makes him look like a little puppy to me, the third one is normal aged Harvey and the first one is old man grumpy Harvey  My treasure - leave me alone! Weibritty Clay is just gorgeous Has he grown into his legs yet? hankdog that's a lovely shot of Jake, the blue suits him! Athena is the same as Jake, all walkies must finish with a dive/splash into the clam shell pool, even when it's raining in the middle of winter. Then followed by some digging in mud puddles just so she can track it into the house I'm sure If this rain keeps up next weeks photo from me will likely just be of my floorboards which you won't be able to see for all the mud! 26/52 - Cy (ex-rescue) Cyber (previously Cyrax) was adopted a few months ago but he came out in the rain for the AMCNSW weight pull training day yesterday. Pulling a tyre was no trouble for him at all, he's a big boy! Cyber by Gertrude139, on Flickr
  8. Oh wow stunning, particulalry love the first one, that's the burnt orange type colour I like.
  9. That's beautiful Stormie! My favourite is burnt orange coloured Autumn leaves, I took these a couple of weeks ago. Eat the leaves Salt. Eat them. by Gertrude139, on Flickr Salt by Gertrude139, on Flickr
  10. I've never gotten a voucher from them and my email is up to date ETA I would also be happy to pass it on to a rescue
  11. Great photos Pers and Staffyluv! Autumn/winter colours are my favourite, so pretty.
  12. His left ear has been eaten away a bit from fly strike It is healed over and will grow the hair back in time but the missing flesh will never grow back. Luckily his is not as bad as a lot of the rescue dogs I see.
  13. Oooooh exciting! What did you end up deciding on? I didn't get any cards with my new camera as I already had a few I was using with my old camera, but I got sick of the slow write speed and they are small sized so I ordered a new one from Amazon which arrived today. It was about 50% of the price in store and since it is Sandisk it has a lifetime warranty worldwide.
  14. I use the auto delivery for monthly worming tablets so that I know I will never run out. I think from memory the website only lets you select how many weeks apart you want your auto delivery, not an actual date input. I would call them and ask though as they may be able to set it up for you even if it isn't an option on their website.
  15. 25/52 - Spirit (rescue) Spirit by Gertrude139, on Flickr JackC - Koda, teddy and bone is very cute. Week 24 is a very nice portrait of him, looks so serious for a little pup!
  16. Another vote here for the Rapid Rewards Training Pouch. OH and I both use ours on walks now too, as Jess said you can fit a lot of other things as well as treats in there. I usually have 2 types of treats, poo bags, phone and keys. I like the magnetic closure on it, its not very difficult for me to open but I haven't had any theft issues yet. The rescue I work with also sell them as a fundraiser.

    Raiden

I have no words Run free Raiden So sorry that his time with you was so short.
  18. Winchill sell weightpull harnesses, they are in VIC. linky I'm not sure how small they go but maybe call them? This is their how to measure page linky scroll down for the weightpull ones, sledding harnesses are at the top. I can't help with training sorry.
  19. The AMCNSW have announced the next event for NSW: And also a FREE training day More info on the FB page linky I took my dog to the last event... as predicted he was in a perfect 'drop' position and just woo wooed at us :) He did pull the cart by itself after about 51 seconds I think it was. Second round with some weight added he was like nup I'm not going anywhere! oh well I still love him, even if he is a dud at both sledding and weightpull!
  20. Makes sense, I also read that many huskies don't have the best recall at the best of times. I have a neighbour with a 3 year old husky, a dog her daughter got her, and she doesn't walk him *at all*. I used to give him hour long walks, but he's quite the dominant dog (towards other dogs, not people), and when my dog came along (with his own dog issues, so not possible to walk them together at this time) I've had to stop offering her my time. He's the sweetest husky, he seems to know his basic training but is just too bursting with energy to hold still enough to register any of it. I really don't know what to do That was really nice of you to walk them. Yes they do need a lot of exercise, training and socialising. My two are very active and they are still quite young, 15 months and approx 4 years. Cookie is a Samoyed and Oreo a Samoyed x husky, they don't need as much exercise as pretty much every other husky I know, also Oreo is approx 8 so a bit calmer than young ones, but they still need regular walks. They had no stamina at the beginning but they have built it up very quickly. Also being more comfortable with new places and surrounding means they don't waste so much of their energy on stressing anymore.
  21. This is the one I saw on your FB page, it's my fave of the ones I saw on there. Although I admit I thought it was Cooper for a bit, before I saw it was Bronson :) oops!
  22. My OH has done a fair bit of photography in the past, some paid work, won a few competitions but not much lately. He is, I would say an enthusiast, but he doesn't do much of any hobbies anymore which is why I wanted to buy such a good camera to hopefully reignite his love of photography too. I think it's working he has spoken to an old colleague who is very into photography about going out for a day to take some shots together, and his uncle is a member of the local photography club and I heard him looking into it the other day (apparently it is very 'clicky' though so may not end up joining). He is a graphic designer and he still does some photography for work every now and then but it is boring product photography stuff so usually he has his minnions do it :) A love the begging for dinner photo too, very cute indeed. I also like the jammies photo, must take you a while to bath them all! Corie, Cookie and Oreo don't *need* heaps of exercise but they absolutely love walkies so they get lots of them :). In the morning on weekdays they get about 30-45min depending on the day, then on weekends they get bigger walks. This weekend we took all 4 for just over 6km's on Sunday and I think they had maybe a slightly shorter walk on the Saturday. My two can go for wayyyy longer, 6kms doesn't tire them in the slightest and they get between 6-10km daily but we have to be careful with Oreo as she has a deformed paw and it can cause her to limp sometimes. I think the winter is affecting her paw more so we have put her on catrophen injections so hopefully they will help with the stiffness in the mornings. We don't take them to any off lead parks for a few reasons, mainly because Cookie is still quite afraid of people (although she has progressed soooo far in that area already), it would have to be gated so they wouldn't run away and also their doggie interaction skills aren't the best. They are very doggie social/friendly but their manerisms are a bit wierd, like Cookie likes to great other dogs by likcing them on the face which most dogs don't appreciate, and Oreo will be overtly dominant to begin with to test the other dogs dominance, she will happily submit but the way she walks up to other dogs for the first time could cause an issue depending on the other dog (she has taught Athena bad habbits ). Sometimes they come out to the kennels where the dogs without foster carers are boarded and we give them a run around in the paddocks there as that is a safe environment for them, and they can meet other dogs which we already now the temperament of.
  23. One of my foster dogs was having a bad dream the other day, growling a lot in her sleep and twitching, not just normal dream noises but really growling. The other foster who is very attached to her went over and licked her ear, which is how they usually show affection to each other, and she woke up with such a start, a yelp and eyes wide open like they were going to pop out. She was really freaked out and the one who licked her was also super freaked and scampered accross the room to get away. She took a few minutes to settle down again. Hopefully no more nightmare for her makes you feel so helpless
  24. Hollyview page, I think you posted a link to it a while back :) Stalking your personal page would definitely be in the creepy category I do shoot in raw and use mostly lightroom, soemtimes PS if I need to actually edit something out of the photo but I'm not very good with either of them so I tend not to change too much as I don't really know how to 'get the best' out of the photo. I have a canon speedlite 580ex flash. OH gave me a crash course on the basic settings on it last night, seems very complicated to me but I think like you said I will start with it on -2 or so with the diffuser and little reflector thingy on and hopefully it won't be too bright. I'll just have a go and see how it turns out, just thought you might use a flash and be able to give me some tips was all :) hankdog lovely shot of Jake, I too love those butt swirl things on bull breeds.
