  1. Awwww that's lovely! Having huskies it's not something I'm used to. Especially Athena she has such a high prey drive.
  2. Can't go past Ruthless Leather for a good spoiling! I bought my girl a matching collar and lead set for her 1st birthday. They have a new girly bling design, I think it's called heat throb you should check that one out, sounds like what you are after. I wouldn't use any leather collar in the sea water, buy a cheap one for the beach and a leather one for the rest of the time.
  3. Great series Hankdog, love it! Are we missing one more though where Jake has some fresh meat...?
  4. Most people would buy a dog based on looks And I find that strange too! You've never heard someone say "it was so cute I just had to buy it, it looked so sad in the shop?" Of course I know heaps of people who buy animals based on looks. When I say I find it strange I mean that in terms of how your new pet is going to affect your life looks would usually be a small consideration. Temperament of the individual pet, exercise requirements etc are going to play a bigger role over the 10-20 years of the pets life IMO and I would always take that into account before what the pet actually looked like. I find it strange that some people give no consideration to it at all. I accept that buying based on looks is the norm but I wouldn't do it.

  6. I started but I had to stop and didn't finish it sorry. I did give it a go to see what it was like, descriptions such as fluffy, hairy, small, cute etc aren't a problem but I cannot label a dog aggressive or not aggressive from a picture. I have a huge problem with people judging purely on appearance, even going with 'breed traits' grinds against me somewhat, depending on the circumstance. I know what you are trying to get at but just because people make these judgements all the time doesn't make it right and I don't think it should be encouraged. If you added a 'not sure' option to the answers I would be happy to complete it. Then I can describe physical appearance but don't have to make a complete uneducated guess about 'personality'. ETA - A Rotti came up for me.
  7. I find this survey very strange. How can anyone comment on a dogs personality by looking at a single photo?
  8. 33/52 Athena Athena by Gertrude139, on Flickr And a few extras since it's feeling a little lonely in here... Athena by Gertrude139, on Flickr Land Ahoy! by Gertrude139, on Flickr
  9. Hankdog Jake has such a loveable face. Makes me just want to grab it smoosh it! Cute photo of Harvey licking the bushes! I hope for your sake nothing too yucky in there. Athena got a very smelly dead bird on one of our walks this week not nice at all. 32/52 - Skylar (rescue - assisted rehoming) Skylar by Gertrude139, on Flickr
  10. Lucky Harvey! Walks on the beach even in winter! Good thing he has all that coat to keep him warm. Koda is really growing quickly now! love the eyes in week 31 super cute. 31/52 - Skye (rescue - assisted rehoming) 361A0988-Edit.jpg by Gertrude139, on Flickr
  11. Wow RV fantastic shots! So many great photos of completely different subjects/themes/types. I really like all of them! You must have a natural eye for composition.
  12. Sorry to hear Cooper isn't better yet how frustrating that he is allergic to something that's supposed to help him heal! I hope it doesn't take too much longer.
  13. Impatiens - love Harvey lurking in the undergrowth! hankdog - Glad to hear Jake is doing OK after his op. He looks completely conked out in that pic, hopefully he's all rested up by now. tlc - I think the rest of your gang is protesting because Tully has clearly got prime position and lighting and their all jealous  I like your backdrop, how are you finding using the flash so far? I still haven't tried mine. How is Cooper going? I hope he's healing from his op and infection ok. JackC - Koda's looking big in that last one! Glad you are capturing so many photos of him growing up, I really regret only having a few iphone pics of Athena growing up, she just grew so fast! My faves are week 27, looking very serious sitting up tall and week 28, nice colours all round. 30/52 - Haka (rescue) Haka by Gertrude139, on Flickr
  14. Congrats Lhok! He's a real beauty!
  15. Be aware Permoxin is highly toxic to cats, hopefully you don't have a cat.
  16. Thanks BC! Her other eye is brown! Sadly the blue one looks to have the beginnings of a cataract (or something else cloudy, I'm not good with medical stuff) and the brown one is mostly clouded over too, we think from an old injury. Lucky she can still see very well . At 11 years old cataract surgery may not be an option, hopefully it's not needed anyway.

  18. I put a code in for Fetching Dogs the first time I ordered but it only let me use it once, do you know if I can be used again? I can't find any info on it.
  19. No they're not, they're only allowed to take them where dogs on lead are allowed, which is definitely not 'anywhere else'. For instance there are barely any beaches in Sydney that are designated on lead, they are either off lead or no dogs at all. Most of the on lead ones have time and date restrictions meaning dogs aren't allowed on weekends, public holidays or after work hours. I've got huskies and there is no way I am letting them off lead in an open space because I will never trust their recall. The only way for me to maintain effective control is to have them on lead. My dogs never get to play on the beach anymore as I am sick to death of people berating me for having them on lead when I am doing the responsible thing. I wouldn't take them into a gated dog park on lead because they can go to other parks which aren't off lead, I don't have that option with beaches.
  20. Yes loving the camera still, although pining for a few more lenses... and some editing skill . I have Charlotte Reeves' eBook which is helping me take better photos, I think, but now I need to know how to get the most out of them. *waits for editing eBook* Think I need to do a course or something. Zed has gone into foster care in QLD, I suspect he'll slot in so well that he won't be leaving :) But we'll see. Sadly Latte has the curse of the cross breed He's a beautiful beautiful boy, nothing wrong with him at all but no one wants him, must be more than 6 months now he's been in care Good to see some shots of your gang tlc! So tell me were you fortunate enough to have such a large chair before you acquired so many dogs or did you have to buy a new one so they could all fit on? Sleepy Harvey is very cute Impatiens
  21. As my pup was sold to me on limited register and was sold on a 'desexing contract' I was given the pedigree papers once I had provided the vet certificate of desexing. If your pup is on limited register and the breeder has asked for it to be desexed at an an appropriate age perhaps the same applies to you?
  22. Hankdog I think he just doesn't want to be seen outside wearing pink! Great little series :)
  23. Stunning photos and what a lovely story they tell. Yep the 4th photo is the one that stole my heart as well
