Yay for pics of Clay! I was missing the little munchkin. Week 27 is my fave, love the light and the expression on his face. He is certainly a very handsome boy. Hankdog another great pose by Jake love the light and dark in this one and the composition with the birdcage, well spotted! Great framing of Harvey in the bright green leaves as well, he looks all puppyish again to me, kinda of a bobble-head effect with him popping out of the plants there.

I thought they were going to their new home tomorrow so I took them out to get some last minute photos of them but there has been a delay so we probably have them for another two weeks or so :) They will be going on trial very shortly though, they have had two meets with the family already and they love them. Cookie is still scared of them but she will get used to them like she did with us. I'm so happy for them but so sad to see them go at the same time, when they leave I will be a blubbering mess. Oh and they are beautifully posed as there was a group of maltese dogs walking past so they were paying no attention to me :laugh:

The staff there are quite on the ball mita :) and you are right the best thing is to go and look themselves. They also do a good job of keeping the website and faccebook page updated with photos so if like you said the description matched a few I'm sure they would direct them to look at the pics if they weren't able to visit the farm themselves. Breed labeling once gone from the pound would be up to the individual rescue obviously.

Renbury made this announcement earlier in the year and as such most dogs which are not chipped as a breed are listed as an appropriately sized x breed. This way there is no risk getting the wrong label. Yes it is more aimed at adopters but if the owner can describe their dog accurately there is no reason why they shouldn't be able to get it back. I know of cases where people have rung the pound to see if their such and such breed dog is in there and they have been told no because the breed their dog was chipped as was different to the breed they were calling it. This can be eliminated by asking for a description of the dog instead.

There is a DOLer panlewis who makes beds which are tougher than most. Custom steel frame with the canvas type of awning material I think it is. Maybe PM them and see if theirs would suit you? I can't remember the exact details but I know they do something different at the corners so it's harder for the dogs to start chewing there because that is usually how the problem starts. I know some kenneled dogs who were chronic bed destroyers but didn't destroy these beds. They are in NSW but the beds can be shipped, not sure where you are?

Ummmm a malamute won't have to do any climbing to get over a 4ft fence.... Escapism depends on the individual dog's personality and also on whether its requirements are being met, exercise, stimulation and company etc. Some will escape as long as they can see a way, just because they want to. Please don't assume that no malamute will go over a 4ft fence. Yes sibes are more prone to being escape artists but I know an awful lot of mallys that can and do escape as well. Aside from elderly dogs which couldn't physically jump the one rescue arctic I know of who could be rehomed to a property with 4ft fences like yo u have described is a husky. Re cat friendliness that is usually assessed on an individual dog basis so if a rescue is known to be cat friendly that will usually be mentioned in their profile. If it is unknown best to err on the side of caution. Since you have no urgency to find a friend you could keep your eye out for a suitable cat friendly rescue if you want to. However it will be very hard to find one that can also be trusted with 4ft fences. Think about what you want in your second dog as well. Do you want an older one which may teach or calm your younger dog? Do you want another young dog, bearing in mind your sammie will be starting to hit peak energy and "teenage" years? SInce you've never owned either a sibe or a moot why not go to some of the social events (if there are some in your area) and spend some time with a range of sibes and moots? Talk to their owners see how your sammie goes with them etc. Not sure what part of QLD you are in but there are regular sibe and moot walks in the Brisbane and Gold Coast areas, maybe others too. You have plenty of time to work out what you want which is great.

I look back to the first few weeks of photos I too this year and I can definitely see an improvement so that makes me happy. I'm not an artistic/creative person so I still really struggle with the framing/positioning of the shots and I still haven't worked out really how to make the most of light, I think the shots where I get it right are complete flukes :laugh:. But I've got to keep taking pictures to improve. I'm a perfectionist and I'm not used to not getting something right quickly so I have never pursued anything artistic before because I know its not my strong suit. I think this is good for me so I can get over my need to be a perfectionist! I'm pretty excited that I've take the photos for a few of the profiles for the rescues now, I know they aren't pro quality but the fact that someone else is happy for them to been seen in public is nice! Skylar (the one with the stunning blue eyes from a few weeks back) is on trial for adoption at the moment I got to take her to the airport the other day and it's really nice to think that hopefully my photos helped her to find her new home. Teka from last week also has a meet tomorrow so .

A quick DOL search would indicate that Calabash is the most recommended out that way, it's not too far from Dural really. Pet Resorts also got a few mentions. Also if the DOLer PAX's kennel is still operating? Maybe too far out of the way at Londonderry though. Some of those threads are a little old but it probably gives you a good idea. I haven't had any personal experiences with the Dural ones sorry. I have a lot of respect for Glenn Cooke from Pet Resorts Australia as a trainer, and a foster carer with the rescue group I am involved with works as kennel staff at the Terrigal branch and it seems a very good setup. She loves it and gets a lot of good feedback. The Terrigal facility is much newer though. This would be the first place I would check out in Dural if I were looking. There are so many in the Dural area to choose from I wouldn't even know where to start. Do you have a price range or budget that you want to stick to and go from there? Or do you have minimum exercise requirements that you would like? eg being walked vs left in a day run A preference for your dogs to play with others or not to interact with any others?

Dogwoods in Colo Heights, if they are sociable and like the company of other dogs, and you are happy for them to run with other similar size dogs. Calabash Kennels in Arcadia Both quite far out but worth it IMO. I don't know if Dogwoods will do the grooming side of things, as I've never asked. I know that Calabash do, they have a lot of 'extras' you can add to the stay. Both have active FB pages posting pics of pets during the stay.

Yeah I used to used a furminator on my LabxKelpie's coat but I think I would do some damage to Treble's coat if I used one on him. I was looking at a mars coat king though size 18 double. Would that be any good? --Lhok The mars coat king is the copy cat version of the Oster rake http://www.osterpro.com/Product.aspx?id=groomer&cid=1008&scid=0&pid=6397. The Oster still has a very small blade edge on the inside of the teeth but not as big as the knock offs usually do. I use this one on a lot of sibes and mallys and I find there is nothing better. I don't find it cuts the top coat at all really, the teeth manage to separate the guard hairs without cutting them. The only time I have found it to cut is when it hits a matt in the coat. However the one Akita I tried to use it on her coat was so thick that the teeth couldn't get down into the undercoat so it only worked on some areas - granted she was not blowing coat at the time just needed a good brush so it would probably be more effective when in full shedding mode. Arctic Breed Rescue sell them for $40. I would steer clear of the furminator as you said, and a blower will definitely make it easier.

Thanks! Yes it is very depressing, there is a constant stream and rescue are constantly pushed to their limits. So sad as there is nothing 'wrong' with these dogs just that they have been let down by deadbeat owners. P.S. before this year I had never picked up a proper camera before. I was sick of my crappy iPhone photos and decided I wanted to learn to take nice photos so I could have a better record of my own dogs. If you want to get a DSLR camera and have a go there are lots of resources out there to help you, I have used this thread as a challenge for me to keep taking photos in the hopes that I can improve.

Have you picked which style you want? Some of them like the hearts on Cocoa's collar only come in certain colour bling. I would have thought the burgundy and pink on Cocoa would clash too, until I saw the picture and I absolutely love it, one of my fave collars of all time I think.

If you have a sample of the blackhawk puppy why not try it and see how it goes? If you've read the bad reviews on BH then you will know what to look out for if it isn't agreeing with your pup. I admit I too was put off BH originally by that thread but I know a lot of arcitcs on it now which are doing really well, better than on other premium brands. Different things suit different dogs. I imagine you will get slammed in most raw feeding sites for feeding any dry food at all. Has there been a problem on the Pro Plan? Remember to swap to the new food slowly too don't just start feeding the new one straight away, mix them together for a bit.

I have sibes and I use taste of the wild, the salmon one (though I mostly feed raw this is just the backup), I order from Paws For Life and it couldn't be easier. I will only feed them a grain free kibble as my girl gets skin problems with grains. My foster sibe and samoyed are on blackhawk + some raw which seems to have good results with most arctics. Try to get some samples packs of each maybe and see what your pup does best on?

Mine was a custom order too. I got my dogs names hand stamped into the collars. Ruth and Dave really went the extra mile to make my custom collars super special.
