Which VIC ET would you recommend for a newbie who has ridden a bike once in the last 10 years? Also what would you say the chances are of the temp exceeding 20degC? I know the test is cancelled if it exceeds 24 but I don't think I would feel comfortable running her in anything over 20deg as she will have her full thick undercoat in winter. Generally I stick to under 25/26 for walking, under 20 for running and under 15/12 for sledding depending on humidity.

Thanks for all the kind words about my photography I still just see what's wrong with it, I can see I've improved but I still have so far to go until I will be happy with it. I looked back through some of his early photos again and had a good chuckle at the 'all legs' stage :laugh: He is a gorgeous puppy and has grown to be very handsome and obviously very smart too with all the comps you have won. You have just a good eye for photography as well, always stunning photos. Impatiens, Harvey always brings a smile to my face, sometimes cos he looks like a tortured soul (not more photos :laugh:) sometime for his puppy looks and just generally for his cute, relaxed nature. I have particularly enjoyed your black and white photos, I think you have a real talent for that. tlc, in case you are still reading, I've missed seeing your guys on here. I'm still astounded at how you can get them all in the same photos and looking at the camera, I can't do it with only two! I was sad to see so many drop out this year but it's understandable as sometime life gets in the way. I'll be hoping to be able to complete it properly next year and my challenge for myself will be to move away from the portrait style. I want to focus on overall composition, more action photos, detail photos etc instead of the same old portrait stuff. To update on the rescues, all but one have found their new forever homes. Sadly Latte (week 28 ) still has not. He suffers the curse of the crossbreed, husky x lab. He is such a wonderful dog with an incredible nature and would suit so many lifestyles/situations. It really isn't fair. He has just completed a whole year in rescue. He did find foster care earlier this year which was so great to get him out of the kennels and into a home but I desperately want him to find his forever. I got to visit Cookie and Oreo, our first fosters, in their new home when I visited Sydney at the end of November they have settled pretty well and were looking great, it was so good to see them again. Thanks everyone for the encouragement over the past year. I have really enjoyed all of your photos and I'm so happy I will get to see photos next year too Edit - Actually Rubix has also not found a new forever home she is with a different rescue so I didn't realise. She is a real sweet girls so I hope it doesn't take too much longer for her.

Don't laugh but.... does anyone know if there are any sibes that have successfully competed in tracking? I really like the sound of tracking and would love to give it a go with my sibe but I'm not sure if it's suitable? She loves to use her nose to sniff things out but I really worry about the prey drive aspect. Reading through this thread there are more than a few encounters with mice, sheep, cattle, dead things etc and I don't think she would cope with that, would that rule us out? Or is it not the norm to come across those things?

I'm hoping to do it with my sibe now that she's old enough. Need a bike first though... :) The willingness test scares me though I worry that she will do the one before hand, do the run and then go nup I'm tired not doing the one after the 20km and then it will all be for nothing!

This. I did this and with no rental history and two sibes I got offered the first three places I applied for, and in a pretty decent area too. I just moved from Sydney to Melbourne but I'm on the north-east side. I had previously heard that the western suburbs were generally quite pet friendly though. I'll PM you the pet resume I made so you can see what it looked like.

My sibes play what I call extreme bitey-face. It looks so viscous but they never hurt each other and always go back for more :)

I found the thing that helped me the most to find a pet friendly rental with two medium/large sized dogs was to have a 'pet resume'. I submitted it with all my applications. I had a photo of each dog on there and a little bit about them, their training and behaviour and assurance that if they caused any damage it would all be repaired at our cost immediately. I also had 'references' from my neighbours, vet nurse and breeder. This really helped to get the agents on board with most of them commenting on what lovely dogs we had. And I had virtually no rental history too. Tell them to apply for places that don't specifically say pet friendly too, two of the three offers I got were for places not listed as pet friendly.

What is the time frame for rehoming? Is there the possibility of working with a good behaviorist to help Mia overcome her anxieties and issues with other dogs? That might allow you to take her on or at the very least will increase her suitability for and chances of rehoming. Obviously there is also a finance factor as well. There are some boarding facilities that will work on behavior whilst the dog stays with them, there are a lot of these that I wouldn't touch but there are a few good ones around. If your son can afford it I would look at it as an option.

This is my problem too, I don't want the spindly pointy ones which most places call large or XL. I can't find the thick ones anywhere either.

I use the DIY dog wash at our local car wash or pet supply store, locations can be found here http://findadogwash.com/ $10 for 10mins, includes shampoo but I like to use my own. The dryer is no where near as good as a proper one but it gets a bit of the wet off. I mainly use it because it is a raised tub which is easy for the dogs to get in and out of and easy to manouvre the dogs inside it as it is quite large. It has a tether point so that they can't escape too.

The corgis look great! definitely in the latter category :laugh: I love those snoods so much, I so wish they would fit fat husky heads.
