  1. So many treats that we don't get here! Also I'm deciding on whether or not we need more tugs and what sort this time.. I like the idea of the braided fleece ones but which size and rabbit or sheep? Anyone used either, Sheena are your dogs big tuggers?
  2. I prefer walking in a harness for everyday walking and leave my martingale for training. It means that any pressure is on the chest and I feel it gives me more control. And as the martingale is used as a training collar it also acts as an association that now we are going to train and I have to focus so I get lots of yummy treats. I also constantly throw treats or pats every time I catch Atticus looking at me so as to reward focusing on me. Even just casually. Have treats on you in your pocket, some kibble or dry food. And I also keep little plastic containers of dry treats around the house to run too if I catch awesome unexpected behaviour.
  3. I got mine for $9 something at petstock. It was a while ago. Definitely a use with common sense sort of treat. My dog licks it and when my pup bites the ball part it gets taken away.
  4. It's pretty handy for grooming and on the go treating. They actually smell, well the one I got. I think from memory it's the liver.
  5. The catch game is also great for rewarding postural changes at a distance. I also love LAT.
  6. Atticus my pup gets Atti when working. He now will respond to both names! Plus I am really enjoying being able to accentuate Atticus as I'm running around. Daisy dets lots of Daze but her name is harder to stretch out.
  7. Standing and sitting he looks very leggy. His coat started coming through on the top of his back about a week or so ago. Just a little strip that's making its way down his sides. Though he is still fluffy! His tan is very very light. We still don't know if he will darken up or not, but I doubt it. He is such a good boy! I love Nova's darker markings, they are so different to Atticus.
  8. So my little man is getting a bit bigger! Actually he is huge. I think he is around 18 weeks now. This pic of him stretched out on the lounge shows his size! Also he is using a piece of cardboard as a pillow.... Comfy!
  9. Is there a FOOs type of set up somewhere in nsw? That sounds perfect. I'm starting with rally. Because the talking helps daisy calm down as she is quite young and gets really excited. But at the same time loves working and training. Also I feel like it'll be easier on me because I lack a lot of confidence in myself. My instructors said I should start thinking about a rally novice trial, I just worked out how to enter, but am afraid I will be laughed at ridiculously due to my lack of experience and first time trialling.
  10. When I take Daisy out my pup Atticus gets left alone. During the day it's outside but at night I leave him in our toilet room with all the bits and pieces removed and his crate blocking the doorway. I used to just crate him. But as he is getting bigger I wanted him to have more space to play. I put towels on the floor for warmth and give him meaty bones or a frozen kong and some 'special' toys that he only gets when he is alone. When I come home and first pull up its quiet but when I open the door I hear howling, so I am a little worried he is anxious but he needs his alone time.
  11. I put all sorts of things in mine. I think their favourite is mashed banana, yogurt and kibble with a little bit of peanut butter at each end. Sounds yuck but they love bananas and yogurt! I also do chicken mince though if they aren't eating it it goes yuck, with mixed veg. Sardines, egg etc. I also freeze them so they last that little bit longer. I put just kibble in Atticus's the other day and he didn't touch it... Obviously I've set a standard now. Mind you he also had a chicken wing and a pig ear to choose from.
  12. I just got back to my little man a few days ago! He is getting so big and a bit naughty. I noticed last night his coat is starting to change already and he is losing a bit of his puppy fluff! Eep. I think he will get to about the 22kg mark we will wait and see at the moment he is doing really well though. Just need to focus on some more training! Mum sent me these photos while I was away... His head looks a little strange in it. He is going through a weird growth phase.
  13. I was wondering about whether or not I should be adding additional supplements to the complete health mix? Like fish oil for joints. Does the completely mix contain the same amount of things (technical term end of week) as the health booster. Eg would it be better to mix my own and add health booster or will I get the same benefit from just the complete mix with it already added? Thank you.
  14. We have almost exactly the same order and mine is due today. Yay free shipping! What harness did you end up getting?! My cleanrun order arrived a couple of days ago but I am not at home and haven't got to unwrap it yet. In it are harnesses for my two, a new tug. They may also be getting some new toys in the post soon. If I can ever decide which ones.
  15. Thanks for that. I'm looking into them, from looking at Geraldine's site she is now offering reactive dog classes. Which might be interesting to have a look at as well as some one on one time.
  16. Hi everyone, I was wondering if someone knew of any behaviourist in the canberra region. I'm looking in particular for help with my 18month old Aussie shepherd who is starting to react towards other dogs, at first it was only in an excitable fashion but when mum was walking her the other night she growled towards the other dogs they came across. I also wanted to know if anyone knows of any show training? (This is for a different dog) As well as the best place for agility in the canberra region? So many questions! Thanks for any help.
  17. Everyone's puppies are gorgeous! I'm currently on the other side of the country from my little man for another week. He is at home with mum at home though! And I Ieft instructions. Apparently she is building a new veggie garden fence as he has been sneaking in and digging a HUGE hole in one of the beds. She's filled it in twice now. Have to admit I'm glad I'm not there for that one, but I can't help but be proud of Atticus for being so clever!
  18. I don't have collars on at home because of rough play but if i do they are flat. I will use a flat collar at agility because at our club we have to be able to quickly grab them in class if needed. I prefer walking on a harness, not that they pull but I like the extra control it gives me, I'm tiny and not particularly strong. And then a martingale for obdience. I like the martingale as its a little more control and Daisy now knows its time to REALLY work when it comes out. I am also liking the new syntek collars they look so swish. Just working out if I can justify more dog things. Has anyone tried any of their leads? Wondering about a matching collar: lead set.
  19. He is lovely! Gorgeous tan markings that are already quite dark. At the moment his coat is beautiful and fluffy too! So cuddly. He has a nice head too for a boy. Do you think he'll get big? It's so hard to tell at this age we still haven't decided how big Atticus might get. He is a really pretty boy. Looking at my work schedule and the timing of shows its looking like it won't be till septemberish that Atticus will get in the ring. I spoke to his breeder about it the other day and she is quite keen. Might see you at one one day Lisa.
  20. Can I ask a quick question, it's a little ot. I wanted to get a mat of some sort for mat work like in Leslie's, control unleashed. She uses mutt mats. Would this be a similar sort of thing? My dogs don't mind lying on cold wet grass, though I wish they wouldn't. So it would be act as a 'place' for them to go and hopefully keep them a little drier at training etc.
  21. Oh My Goodness! I finally put the photos from my camera onto the computer and worked out how to put them on here! You wouldn't believe my age if I told you, I do not fit my stereotype. So a quick catch up on Atticus. Baby Atticus with a ball He is getting so big! Atticus doing what he wants when he wants to. and we do a lot of this around here, relaxing and a quite a bit of playing!!
  22. Atticus started on pro plan and I bought a small bag of it to mix with my preferred food. Also a small bag, that way if something occurred I wouldn't have kilos and kilos to find a home for. Daisy didn't do well on pro plan when I trialled that and I swapped her onto advance. She is now on advance active and Atticus gets advance large breed puppy. They both get meat and veg ontop of this and extra things during the week. I was looking into rc when I came across advance and found out they are owned by the same company and advance is the one made in australia which I liked. In any dry food check the ingredients and make sure a protein is first listed and I would recommend large breed puppy of any sort for an Aussie as I like them to develop slower and reduce the amount of pressure on joints. Mine is a jumping bean at the moment so he is being kept on the slim and not carrying excess weight.
  23. Blackdog Wear manufacture theirs with sliders on each end of the chest strap so the strap can easily be moved up or down depending on the individual conformation. :) I've used quite a few black dog products. That's our fave limited slip collar. I am assuming the walking harness would be a similar design to the car harness which I have for my girl. I found that the little adjusting slider that sits in the middle of the chest kept slipping on her as she is such a wriggler but even when it's not right she seems to find it comfortable.
