A Follow On Thread For Those Who Now Have Their Puppy
Daisy.Tea replied to julesluvscavs's topic in Puppy Chat
They are so cute! How many toys can I give Atti for Christmas? I'm currently hoarding a collection. He loves his toys and it amuses me greatly watching him play. -
I just want to say that I think it's really brilliant that you're committed to giving this pup the help she needs and getting it right. Already a lot of great advice has been given. Don't be afraid to get some professional help too, I did with one of my dogs although her problems were not that bad, because I wanted to prevent them from worsening. Those few hours were incredibly useful and she is now a joy to take out and about.

What Happens To Pet Shop Puppies....
Daisy.Tea replied to CrazyCresties's topic in General Dog Discussion
I never thought to much about this. HW it never occurred to me until now about muscle development it's like with gold fish when they grow to fit the size of their habitat, except they are fish and it's natural for them to do so. Those poor puppies! -
Like a lot of people here strange growling sounds seems to be a common thing. We do it too! I spend a lot of time teasing with the toy and building excitement for it.

Recommended Books For Novice Owners/ Families

I really like some of the ideas and theories behind control unleashed the puppy program. However that more aimed towards performance dogs and not a general what you need to know. For those people Ian Dunbar comes to mind, he is recommended by some of the clubs I train at. -
So lovely. :)

She is gorgeous and looks like she is having a great time with the others. Feel free to join the other now you have your puppy thread and share photos there too!

Command To Get Dog To Eat Breakfast/dinner

Yes. I forgot to mention that when waiting I ask for eye contact. Although that focus on me behaviour has become quite natural now. They look to me to come inside, go through gates etc and for rewards. -
Can't wait till you all get your puppies!!! So many cute photos and you must get them all Christmas presents.

Greyhounds are so much bigger than I first thought! Either that or all these photos make them look like giants.

Nova Scotia Toller Vs Golden Retriever
Daisy.Tea replied to sheena's topic in General Dog Discussion
Tollers are wonderful but it depends, I had one when I was younger and she was incredibly laid back and extremely loyal to me and no one else in my family. I think it really depends on the situation, my Aussies are happy to lounge all day if it's raining or run run run if I let them. I'm a bit sad they aren't more insane like I was led to believe... Actually the boy is more destructive but the older one goes with the flow. The few Brittany's I've met have been pretty intense... -
So cute!!!!! :D I want to borrow some for cuddles.

We have release cues. 'Okay' is what I use generally but originally I had a specific meal cue, 'food'. The dogs know not to pick things off the floor unless I give the 'food' cue and it also works well whilst they calmly wait for their meals. -
It irks me so much when people do this, and then when they go on to complain about it.

Oops. Glad he's okay. I tend not to worry when mine eat things now and just keep a watchful eye on them... Otherwise I'd be constantly panicking.
