oh she might be able to suggest someone northside? Kylie has her own mini poodles (she shows them), so probably has a tonne of contacts.

justin ~ he's out near young. He travels everywhere though, he's really affordable toi. There is also a local guy in hume (act) you can see the sign when driving south on monaro hwy.

Becoming A Foster Carer
louise6616 replied to Kiara & Heidi's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Not all groups are "supportive".. Nor do they all help you, but rather some dump the "difficult" dogs on their carers. (i'd like to think they are the minority, but if you are new to this foster thing and, like me a little too trusting, you find out the hard way) There is nothing worse than having an animal in your care that doesn't get along with your own pets and being "stuck" with them. Don't be afraid to ask the hard questions before you take on a dog with a rescue group. Find out their expectations of their carers, tell them what you expect, witness a home check, see how other carers keep their fosters etc Protect yourself so it is enjoyable rather than stressful :) *edited to elaborate! -
oh that is so great!

oh Angrytardis I really feel for you I have an 18month old dog who always had some minor issues, but escalated completely out of control almost over night (later learned some one had been terrorising him over the fence). Its so hard, and the training/conditioning is so so time consuming. I find it a huge challenge around kids/family committments, and not very enjoyable either. Whichever way this goes, sending you a huge hug. I soo feel for you. years and years ago, someone (knowing i was having shitty conflict over a beloved dog and family) told me a story. About a mother, who had 3 children. The youngest one had some pretty serious health and behaviour problems, and the mother drove herself mad trying to cope. Eventually, it got to a point that the mother couldn't cope any longer, the whole family were miserable. She gave the child up to one of those respite child places. She felt horrible, so guilty. But each day she noticed her other 2 children were happy, they could all go out in public without being embarrassed by the 3rd childs behaviour. The older 2 children's personalities really started to shine, the family were much more relaxed. The mother still spent time with the youngest child every week, but seeing her family happy, and smiling ~ obviously right decision.

oh, and DAP collars are fantastic!

oh Terri, i feel for you. its a bit scary how fast somethings escalate, and before you know it you have an "issue" you never had before. I agree with seeing a behaviorist, hopefully you can nip this in the bud. Good luck :)

great update sandgrubber! i remember when we first got chooks.. my maltese was 9years old.. she killed 5 of them in 2seconds flat.. we bought a similar coop online, we thought it would be much bigger too! nowadays, our maltese, our kelpie, our cane corso all respect our free ranging chickens and can be unsupervised. The little staffy though.. no, she cant be trusted! I applaude you, just do your best :)

oh gosh, good luck -
oh CHA.. big hugs xx I had my dog pts at home a few years back and it was the most awful experience ~ my poor boy was stressed out so badly that this 'stranger' was in his house etc. It was so awful, and not the way i had hoped (i thought it would be less stressful for him, but in fact total opposite). I still regret it and wish i could go back in time to do it differently. I would suggest going to your usual vet, or seeing if your usual vet would come to you. Personally I wouldn't have other pets there, they don't understand, it creates more stress for everyone ~ especially you. Good luck, you'll figure out the best way xx
