  1. Gave it to her for the first time last night... Not what I expected it to look like... reminds me of the pellets you feed the kangaroos at the petting zoo - although she reminds me of a kangaroo most of the time so if the shoe fits She gobbled it down SO fast! A lot of the water didn't absorb as much as I expected it too, so adding something like rice or pasta would be good to help soak it up. She had really bad diarrhoea straight away afterwards though... so maybe too rich for her? I think if I give less and just add to main meal once a week it would be better...
  2. I just bought the 1.8kg bag of this so will update if my dog likes it ... she better!!!
  3. Wow that's impressive! Apparently the i30's have a decent size boot too.
  4. Bumping up this post... MAZNAT - Did you end up getting the Forester?
  5. The K9+ brand? I think the smallest I could go would be the 'Large' which is 6kg ... I have the XLarge Royale 2 now. The only thing stopping me getting another is price and concern of quality for money....
  6. I have a crate trained 2.5 year old Vizsla who I do agility with and am looking for recommendations on a light weight crate... I already have both a wire 42" from Vebo and K9+ Soft crate 42" but both are a bit big for transporting to agility, so I think I could go down a size. I take the soft crate to agility now, but it still weighs about 7kg and is bulky... I know k9+ soft crates have really good reviews on DOL, that's why I bought one initially, but I must say mine has not held up so well, the carry handle ripped off and the frame is not holding up so well anymore - but I confess during puppyhood my girl enjoyed jumping on top of it She no longer does and is very well behaved in the crate. So any recommendations for a good lightweight crate maybe the 36" size for agility training?
  7. Does anyone know how long it keeps before rehydrated? Piper - Yes would be a good product if you are away at shows/trilas or even camping! I imagine it doesn't take up much space either. Good to know the dogs love it and it shows in their coats! Might be worth giving a try I think.
  8. Yes the freeze dried one that you add water to... I thought maybe just adding a small portion once or twice a week to her meal would be a good idea to add some more variety to her diet? Looks like it has great ingredients in it.
  9. Hi Everyone, As the title suggests has anyone tried this product? I feed RAW meat, bones & veg to my dog but have a gift voucher for PetCircle and thought I would give this a try.. probably too expensive to continue regularly though..
  10. I'm drawn to the 8.7" ground clearance and ride height of the XV though... I figure the ground clearance is an advantage when going off the beaten track... This is one reason I keep coming back to Subaru as well as the AWD system.
  11. MAZNAT - I think this is a very reasonable Q to ask... in fact I asked the exact same thing on this forum about 6 months ago when I started thinking of upgrading my car... I'm still thinking I have a female Hungarian Vizsla and plan on adding another to the family next year. Currently drive a Honda Jazz and she sits on the hammock in the back seat. I have been wanting to upgrade my car anyway but ensuring the boot space is large enough for 2 medium dogs is top priority too. I do agility and plan on starting some more sports this year so carry a crate etc in the car often. So I need room! However, I do not have kids so I question my use of an SUV but I have no other choice really... plus I like the ride height I have done SO much research - no test drives yet except the Forester. The two brands I trust the most are Mazda and Subaru. Subaru although not the prettiest, are the safest! There ring shape reinforcement frame which surrounds the boot area too is supposedly the strongest in its class - not so crumple zone if rear ended... Many cars rear window slopes down a lot for looks which is impractical for dogs.. I have narrowed it down to the Mazda CX-5 and the Subaru Forester or perhaps at a squeeze the Subaru XV (love the look of this one but the boot is a bit small I think?). I have been hanging out for the brand new 2015 Subaru Forester due out in a few weeks - good upgrades inside and price cut also... this website has all the measurements of every Subaru (last years model) http://www.cars101.c...rester2015.html I would love to hear how you go with your decision... what other options did you look at?
  12. Rash doesn't seem to be bothering her... It's just the one ear too - the affected one... Makes me think maybe its the drops.. hoping it settles soon otherwise I'll have to take her back to the vet!
  13. My girls ear is starting to get better Just using PAW gentle ear cleaner half hour before the Surolan drops and she is on the cephalexin. Less discharge and the smell is settling down. Although today I've noticed what looks like a rash forming on the inside of the ear flap... not sure if it is the drops or antibiotics causing it but will keep an eye on it and hopefully it doesn't get worse.
  14. This looks good. Is it mainly used to 'dry' the ear area? The benefit with my breed is her short hair and the ear canal's are hair free which is great. I need to work out a way of ensuring they dry out better after swimming though..
  15. Thanks everyone. After having another think through, I have decided to start the antibiotics today. Although she has had yeast infections in the past it is not a frequent occurrence for her and I think just the combination of swimming and the excessively humid whether we are getting here in QLD right now has been the main contributing factors. I understand my regular vet can't really give accurate advice over the phone, especially as she is only going by my description. I respect the original vets diagnosis being he examined it under microscope - he did say it was only 'just' getting into the next phase where bacteria is starting to form, it wasn't swimming in it yet. But due to this I will get onto those antibiotics now rather than wait until its too late. When my girl got desexed last year, my vet checked her ears thoroughly then whilst under GA and they were perfectly fine...
  16. I used to put a snood on my Std. Poodle when she was eating but haven't thought about it for my V.. when were you thinking it would be good for her to wear one? I just phoned my regular vet this morning to ask advice on the meds given - she said just use the Surolan ear drops for a week plus the PAW gentle ear clearer half hour before each day and see if there is improvement. If not then consider commencing Cephalexin but to not start prednil unless she is scratching a lot, which she isn't. The ear drops have prednisone in them anyway so don't want to over do it. I am going to just start with the drops and see how we go.
  17. Glad the post was useful and you have been happy with the Foobler I was skeptical about giving my dog something with batteries but it seems pretty tough and I think it's a great concept!
  18. Yes she is on a decreasing dose of Pred... I agree that 2 weeks is a bit long. He didn't use scope to look in her ear either and I don't believe the inflammation is that bad it warrants pred. I will continue with the Surolan drops which have prednisone in them anyway and start her on the cephalexan tomorrow. Thanks for your input, just not one to over medicate, so nice to hear what others have done
  19. Hi everyone My dog has developed another yeast infection with bacteria to her right ear. She has had about two yeast infections (same ear) over the past couple of years, generally occurring in summer (swimming + humidity) and today I went to a different vet to our regular one and after checking the discharge under the microscope he has prescribed a pretty heavy duty dose of medications to treat it... 1g cephalexin daily, Surolan ear drops and Prednil for 2 weeks.... I'm a bit reluctant to put her on Prednil.... has anyone else used this combo to treat a similar ear infection? My regular vet and I always prefer to treat a little more conservatively in the beginning with drops and that usually clears it up - I understand that this time the infection is now growing bacteria so worse than in the past but I've never had my dog on these meds before so just checking thoughts before I go ahead and give them... Thanks!
  20. Just phoned them and I have received one month free Every little bit helps! Very friendly staff so that's a good start!
  21. Ok great Moosepup. Hopefully the same with mine I received a $20 voucher for Pet Circle webiste too and also did the 'refer a friend' which said you get a $50 voucher with same website, so wonder if that will work so then I have $70!
  22. Just signed up with BWM! I entered the promo code for 1 month free and then had to go 'back' on some of the pages to change things but when everything was finalised it didn't mention the 1 month free on the confirmation... did anyone else's?
  23. I just got off the phone to PetPlan and have now cancelled my insurance with them! I am a bit anxious about it but I think it was the right decision - they attempted to get my premium down by dropping the level of cover but it still wasn't better than other quotes I've received... now to make the big decision of which company to sign up with today....
  24. They also have a bluetooth one available - i think in the USA only though? but that one you can control from your iPhone to dispense whenever you want if your out!!!
  25. Yes there are 6 compartments inside the ball so you can load it with different items and then set the timing intervals e.g.. 15/30/90 min to release the treats - the compartments rotate around internally to the hole and dispense the treats... have a look on youtube, it took me awhile to figure it out too and also how to set it up!!!
