  1. I know some companies recalled their products earlier this year though... Ideally Australian made would be best... Black Hawk is the only one I'm aware of made here but I'm not sold on it.
  2. The possibility of poisoning is so worrying from some of these dry foods! Unfortunately I lost my Standard Poodle to cancer last year and am now on a mission with this new puppy to feed the best possible diet - I am getting a Hungarian Vizsla :)
  3. Thank you both for your comments - I would like to steer away from the premade BARF mixes as I think there are too many preservatives in it - I heard of another dog the same breed as mine, having a bad reaction to it. Although I do realise that dry food is probably no better in some cases... I really would love to stick to 100% raw if at all possible (meat & veg) however, I thought as a supplement/filler one meal a day (while pup is on 3/day) grain-free dry would be ok... I just spoke with the breeder who is currently feeding raw and small portion of dry (Advance)... So many decisions
  4. Hi DOLers I know this question has been asked a dozen times and I've been reading loads of threads on here but am still undecided on the best grain-free dry food for dogs... I will have a new puppy in a few weeks and will feed predominatly raw however, want a kibble added to the diet also - I fed my previous dog on Royal Canin but after much research have decided there are better products out there... Just wanted some opinions on the best premium dry food - I'm thinking Taste of the Wild, Canidae or Ziwipeak (only just heard of this one, I like the idea that it comes from New Zealand, so no chance for Irradiation?). Any thoughts/suggestions greatly appreciated...
  5. Oh that is such good news! I heard he used to work at Seaworld & Dreamworld with sealions and polar bears! He would have to be a brilliant vet IMHO to work with those animals.. So great when you find a 'caring' vet who will go that extra mile for your pet. Thanks for the recommendation, I hope he is now down at Currumbin that would be perfect
  6. Thank you Ams - I have heard of this vet before... I'm contemplating them however, they are a fair drive from where I am, although I definitely have no problems travelling for the right vet :D
  7. Thank you Chook007 - I'm not a breeder so don't require a reproductive vet, I will have a new puppy in a few weeks though so was hoping to find a good reputable vet on the coast... Thanks for suggesting Greencross at Mudgeeraba, I'll look into them :)
  8. I was hoping to get some recommendations from fellow DOL members of a good vet on the Gold Coast or Northern NSW area? I have been looking into 'The Vet Lounge' which has just opened in Currumbin and have read some good things about Dr Michael Woodcock who is at the Coomera clinic but I think he is moving to the Currumbin one now? Would love to hear everyone's thoughts and experiences from any vets in QLD/Northern NSW areas...
